Latest update last week was solicitor waiting for an enquiry raised with sellers solicitor & 1 search to come back.

I really don't know what's happening, it feels like they're keeping us in the dark.

The vendor gave the EA the details of the solicitor she was going to use in order for the memos to be sent out. Now she is saying that the solicitor she was going to use has left the firm.

The EA has recommended a solicitor to the vendor, who has prepared a quote. Last we heard (on Saturday) was that the vendor was going to contact her old solicitor for a quote on Tuesday.

My hunch is that the vendor was waiting for us to receive our mortgage offer before incurring costs. Tomorrow it will be 4 weeks since the offer was accepted and still no news on whether a solicitor has been instructed... The EA is saying that the vendor has a job where she can't take phone calls.

What can we do? I don't want to give empty threats of starting to look at other flats, because i'm not ready to give up yet. We have the vendors phone number and I am wondering if we should text her...?

What would a sensible deadline be in our case?

My worry is that if it takes this long for the vendor to instruct a solicitor, what will she be like when it's time to do all the paperwork etc... Oh and also it's only us FTB's and the vendor in this 'chain' and she is moving in with family abroad, so this should be so easy on paper...

Fingers crossed @2move and @Hopefully, I’m nervous and it’s not even my house!
@Building, I’d ring the EA every day until you understand why the delay happened. Moving abroad is stressful and there’s a lot to organise, so it’s possible she forgot, now gets on it and it’s all smooth sailing from there. On the other hand, if it is because she’s holding out for something, is generally really disorganised, plans are subject to change etc then that’s a big warning sign... if there is nothing else out there that you like then it may be worth being patient but I’d agree w your DP that you should view other stuff.

Someone's not being truthful.
Sellers solicitors say they requested info from bank on 16th August and still waiting response.
I just rang the bank and they told me they can turn it around in 24 hours.

Something doesn't add up.

I just sent my solicitor and email to send to sellers solicitor to wrap this up. Somethings not right here!

It a strange twist of fate, I had a call from the rental agent to say the inventory found a problem with the electrics and as such we cannot move in until Monday. It has bought us an extra day so tomorrow is the new final, final day...

Good luck everybody! Big few days for us coming up, house we are buying has been valued, all fine, our mortgage 'is just being underwritten' and then will be signed off. The people we have sold to, the wife hasn't seen the house (would be very outing to say why) she's coming over the weekend and I get the impression she's in control so if by chance she didn't like it we're buggered, please God let her like it!
