Thank you.

We are going in to week 12 now. However that is just with this buyer. We first went on the market July 2017, we are on our 3 buyer and have loved and lost 3 onward properties.

The whole system is a joke and I know the punchline is going to be the solicitors bill!!

AnotherOne4 · 19/08/2018 20:12

The thing that worries me the most, and the one thing I try not to think about is.......none of it is guaranteed. Everything could collapse and fall through on any day. You almost dread the phone ringing.

TokyoSushi · 19/08/2018 21:57

Evening all, almost Monday when the whole thing starts again! We are in week 9, but only actually in week 1, all fell through so we are just starting again with a different buyer and a different house! Hoping to be in and sorted for Christmas!

zebrapig · 19/08/2018 22:27

Week 12 here but only week 3.5 with our new buyer (long chain collapsed 4 weeks ago). Our purchase is waiting on final enquiries (that the EA says our seller has answered, but haven't yet reached our solicitor). Our sale is waiting on the local search and then they are apparently going to raise all enquiries in one go. Not sure if their mortgage is in yet. God knows how much longer it will take, I'm really hoping we'll be in by the time I go back to work from mat leave at the beginning of October. Our house first went on the market in August last year!

Barbara147 · 19/08/2018 22:58

@Bubbles121 I’d say 12 weeks is a good rule of thumb for a FTB, could be faster if they are cash buyers, slower if they don’t have a sense of urgency or depend on extra monies being released (eg help to buy schemes) so no, I wouldn’t assume your solicitor is lying. Our buyers’ buyer was FTB and it took us 3 months exactly, 13 weeks, from when they accepted his offer in a chain of 3. If we hadn’t broken the chain it would have been much more than that, but the issue is at the other end.

2moveornot2move · 20/08/2018 07:53

Good luck everyone hoping to exchange this week!

Our solicitor starts at 8am so every 2 minute email refreshing will commence in 7 mins...

HopefullyMoving · 20/08/2018 08:49

Hoping this week is a good one.

Love Mondays for this reason!! That two day wait over the weekend is not relaxing at all!!

Keep us all posted and I will be extremely jealous of those that exchange!!! Wink

HopefullyMoving · 20/08/2018 08:56

First chasing email sent before 9am. Check!

Sit back and wait for responses - painful Confused

2moveornot2move · 20/08/2018 09:08

I have been holding off harassing my EA after what we put her through on Thursday. However, if you insist @hopefullymoving ... 😂😂 I'm going to tell hubby you made me do it 😂😂

HopefullyMoving · 20/08/2018 09:11

@2moveornot2move haha. I do! I insist! Wink

buildingblox · 20/08/2018 09:15

Well. Let's see if this chain is going to collapse then. Sad

HopefullyMoving · 20/08/2018 09:17

Solicitor has responded already to advise they will chase again in a day or two.

I need to keep myself occupied. This buying malarkey is taking over my brain and I need a distraction!!!

JustLurk1ng · 20/08/2018 09:59

Haha @HopefullyMoving - I held out til 9.30. Want this exchange done!

legolimb · 20/08/2018 11:12

Good luck all!!

I'll be ing the phone shortly too . I need to know if we are def exchanging to complete on next Wednesday . I've booked removals - I can change it but with 5 days notice. If not i lose a few hundred quid.

Grrrr

HopefullyMoving · 20/08/2018 11:26

I'm going shopping to distract myself!
Shoe shopping for the children rather than anything too exciting... but it's still something to do that isn't anything to do with this stupid house buying process!!!

Pearlsofmadness · 20/08/2018 11:48

@twogirls Congratulations! Glad to hear you’re finally in!

@Hopefullymoving The waiting is the most frustrating thing- I really hope you hear something soon.

We’ve just had a call from the solicitor to say that exchange will take place early next week and that we should complete next Friday! Here’s hoping!

JustLurk1ng · 20/08/2018 12:14

@2moveornot2mov anything from your solicitor and/or EA? Have also been refreshing mails every 10 minutes. Trying to bury myself in work but it's not working

JustLurk1ng · 20/08/2018 12:15

Exciting news @Pearlsofmadness! Hope it all goes smoothly

legolimb · 20/08/2018 12:45

Good news pearls

2moveornot2move · 20/08/2018 15:26

@Pearlsofmadness great news!

EA has called to say the bottom of chains solicitor has gone AWOL! Apparently everyone is ready and keen to get a move on but the solicitor isn't returning any calls or emails.

I feel like a shadow of my former self, all I can think about it this stupid move!

HopefullyMoving · 20/08/2018 16:22

Does anyone else jump at their phone when the 'ping' for a new email goes off? Shameful, I know....🙈

Barbara147 · 20/08/2018 16:43

@2moveornot2move I feel your pain, the solicitor in the middle of our chain does that, alongside mixing up her files, it drives me mad. Then we have a solicitor at the top who is a 1-man show and a vendor at the top who has no sense of urgency... both our vendors and us have been trying to exchange since the 6th, it might now happen on Wednesday but we’ve been fobbed off so many times I don’t believe it anymore. A part of me just wants to pull out to teach them a lesson, but I haven’t seen anything I like more than the current house...

2moveornot2move · 20/08/2018 17:10

Just been updated, bottom of the chain have raised more enquiries. These have been answered partly by our buyers solicitor but a couple have needed to be sent to the leaseholder. So we will need for them to be answered and reviewed and only then will they send out the contracts for the buyers to sign. Doesn't look like Lady Luck is on our side this week...

TokyoSushi · 20/08/2018 17:32

Good news for us today, our buyers have a mortgage and a solicitor and we've been approved for our large but manageable mortgage, the wheels are slowly starting to turn!

Reckon I've checked my emails about every 7/8 minutes today!

If only everybody would just do as they say they will and it'll all be fine!

The house that we are buying really is our long term dream home, I'm a nervous wreck as we've already lost one buyer bastard but it's resulted in this gorgeous house going on the market in the meantime so hopefully it will work out!

HopefullyMoving · 20/08/2018 18:03

Fingers crossed for everyone. First day down; four to go.

Not much happened for us today. Next day I'm expecting news is end of the day on Wednesday. I need to keep myself busy tomorrow....

We were planning on completion end of next week. Not entirely sure we are on plan for that. Just one bastard bit of information required from the legal aid agency for our sellers. All contracts signed. All money in the right place. Literally just one sodding bit of paper required. Aaarrggghhh. So near but so far. And also out of my control so I'm freaking out a bit.
