We're now officially agreed on both sides on a completion date. As for the chain below - who the heck knows! Hopefully find out tomorrow.

Nearly there @HopefullyMoving ... !! Glad everyone is still chuffing toward exchange (even though the exchange train is happening painfully slowly). Fingers crossed for some good news for us all tomorrow!

JustLurk1ng · 21/08/2018 13:20

Been harassing the EA and conveyancer. There is a delay at the bottom of the chain apparently. Need more information people!

Has anyone had any good news today so I can live vicariously? Grin

AnotherOne4 · 21/08/2018 17:27

Our sellers today stated they'd like completion for Sept 10th. Not sure what to do with this though, do we just agree. I guess they can't do it any sooner, and we just have to play by their dates.

legolimb · 21/08/2018 17:40

Aaarggh...

Still waiting on one link on the chain yo sign contracts then can exchange .

This is the person at the end of the chain who has been on holiday for 3 weeks.

The rest of us in the chain are all set to go.

She should be signing tomorrow. Then we can exchange to complete next Wednesday. (She should have signed today and I've been perched on the edge of my seat waiting for news).

It's too late now for me to cancel my booking with th removals company if it gets delayed. So i would lose a few hundred pounds deposit.

Fingers crossed for tomorrow.

Gin all round.

Waitingtomove · 21/08/2018 19:39

My buyer pulled out today ☹️ Sold my house end may and had an offer accepted on another beginning of June. The last search was due back tomorrow and we should have been about ready to exchange then I got a call at 5pm to tell me they were pulling out, I’m so upset and frustrated and stressed that we have to go through the whole thing again, I find showing people round incredibly stressful

2moveornot2move · 21/08/2018 20:46

@Waitingtomove I know your pain. It happened to us in May. Like yourself, I hated the whole viewings process. Luckily we had a new buyer after a couple of weeks and are almost ready to exchange.

Sending you lots of luck in finding a new buyer soon.xx

GinUnicorn · 21/08/2018 22:10

Waitingtomove that is awful. Hopefully you’ll get a better buyer soon.

zebrapig · 21/08/2018 23:02

@Waitingtomove I feel your pain - this happened to us 4 weeks ago. We went straight back on the market, had one viewing booked in that weekend and accepted an offer on the Monday. We've been able to keep our onwards chain as we managed to re-sell so quickly. Fingers crossed for you!

Waitingtomove · 22/08/2018 06:52

Thanks, needed to hear a few positive stories. Will be speaking to the EA again this morning

GinUnicorn · 22/08/2018 07:05

Waitingtomove same happened to us and we got a better offer within 6 weeks. It will be okay x

emdude · 22/08/2018 07:14

@Waitingtomove we lost a buyer, albeit earlier on in the process. And like others have said after it went back on we had a small flurry of viewings and it sold again within the week.

HopefullyMoving · 22/08/2018 08:01

Waitingtomove that is anyone's nightmare. Sorry to hear that! Get back on the horse as soon as you can.

I had three separate dreams last night that we exchanged. Each time getting more and more odd but the underlying story was exchanging contracts! Each time I woke I remember thinking for a minute we had and then the disappointing realisation took over, so I rolled over and went back to sleep.

No news yet for us today. I fear, with bank holiday on Monday, that we won't be completing on Friday next week and our buyers will not be at all happy. Fingers crossed they hang on for our seller to get a wriggle on.

2moveornot2move · 22/08/2018 08:55

I have woken with a feeling of doom. I am seriously considering pulling out as the stress is becoming too much. We need to payout for referencing today to secure the rental we have found but we have no clue when we will be moving. As we are moving 200 miles away, we have school and work to consider and I feel that if we cannot exchange this week then we need to pull out in order to carry on with our lives!

We are so close but as I have no clue as to what is happening at the bottom of the chain I feel like our options are

  1. Start the rental process but it could just be more money wasted as nothing is certain
  2. lose the rental and hold out for certainty but if we exchange this week this could leave us homeless 3)Pull out completely, stay here and continue in our current schools and jobs a chalk it up to experience.

I am such a mess. Our EA is doing all she can but as it is the bottom she has no control of what is happening. 3 of us in chain, we are top and ready contracts signed, our buyers are ready contracts signed, bottom still checking final enquiries and wont send out contracts until everything is satisfied. I don't know what to do.

HopefullyMoving · 22/08/2018 09:24

@2moveornot2move that really is something you and the family can decide but appreciate that it is so difficult when it's all on top of you all.

It's easy for me to say, but if the move was really important insofar as I think it was the right decision for all the right reasons and long term it's perfect, then I'd be tempted to go ahead with the rental and if the sale falls through, either start again or put it out for rental too. Is that something you could consider? At least then it'll give you time to focus on the move and settling in, and then when you have the emotional resilience again, start the sale process again....

LIVIA999 · 22/08/2018 09:27

@Waitingtomove same here... our buyer dropped out and the house we are buying just went straight back on market. They didn't even tell us I just saw it on right move.
We dropped out price by another 15k and then got an offer 5k under that. We just took it but managed to negotiate the house we are buying down by the same amount.
It's so stressful- I don't think I haven't had a knot in my stomach for months. Mind you I've lost a stone in weight from stress so I suppose it's not all bad! ;)

legolimb · 22/08/2018 10:12

Oh no waitingtomove - that's not good.

Hopefully you will get another buyer soon enough.

legolimb · 22/08/2018 10:13

LIVIA I wish I'd lost weight from all the stress. I've packed it on due to all the wine we have been guzzling.. Wine

HopefullyMoving · 22/08/2018 10:26

Same here lego with the wine WineConfused

Itis6oclocksomewhere · 22/08/2018 10:31

Thought I'd just pop back to the thread to update on our situation.

Brief recap...Three sets of buyers.
Buyer 1 pulled out because there were structural issues with her house and her buyer couldn't secure lending.
Buyer 2 were neighbours and we were 8 weeks through conveyancing and pushing for exchange & completion dates. They then pulled out due to various reasons, but I think they struggled to get finance.
Buyer 3 were very keen. Three viewings and according to neighbours they were driving by lots!
One day they drove by and spoke to a neighbour. The next day they pulled out of the sale and we were due to exchange very soon.
As you can imagine with the three failed sales our stress levels were very high!

Then out of the blue, buyer 1 called the estate agent as she had noticed our house had gone back on the market. Her house had since sold to a cash buyer and she had exchanged contracts. She wanted our house, but she was completing in two weeks!
With a lot of hard work from both sets of solicitors and the estate agents we completed in three weeks! Our buyer went into a holiday let for the week between her completion and completing on ours.
It helped she was a cash buyer and this meant there were no mortgage companies to hold anything up.

Fingers crossed for all of you waiting to exchange and hopefully a positive story for anyone who has had a buyer pull out.

HopefullyMoving · 22/08/2018 10:50

Just had a call from our EA. I think our buyers are going to pull out.

No. Words.

TokyoSushi · 22/08/2018 11:07

Oh that's shit for those who have buyers pulling out. It happened to us about 3 weeks ago and I sat in my office crying when our CEO was there!

If it's any help at all, our buyers pulled out on the Tuesday, we reduced our asking price by £5K and had 4 viewings and 4 offers by the Friday.

We lost the house that we were buying (and £300 of search fees) but actually, our absolute dream home came onto the market they day our buyers pulled out.

We now have a new buyer who 'seems' solid, and we're buying the dream house, but as we all know oh so well, it's never over until you're in!

Total bloody nightmare, the whole thing!

JustLurk1ng · 22/08/2018 12:39

Oh crap - that's bad guys. Sorry to all of you in that situation - hopefully it works out ok in the end.

I have a bad feeling about my chain too... may be joining you soon Sad

LIVIA999 · 22/08/2018 12:41

Oh no @HopefullyMoving what happened?

2moveornot2move · 22/08/2018 13:03

@HopefullyMoving no!!! What has happened to make you think that?

HopefullyMoving · 22/08/2018 13:18

Because of delays that are outside of my control. All down to our sellers. Hanging on at the moment but just feel like I could get that phonecall at any minute. Our buyer is very impatient and has mooted that she won't wait much longer.
