Latest update last week was solicitor waiting for an enquiry raised with sellers solicitor & 1 search to come back.
Almost there!!

@JustLurk1ng Accepted an offer 26th May and offered on a place approx 2 weeks later. So 13 weeks from initial acceptance of offer.

The people we're buying also had to buy but our buyer had almost completed her sale and was living with parents - so a chain of 4 really.

We are in a chain of 3 and are going in to our solicitors to sign contracts tomorrow for our purchase. Unfortunately our buyers solicitors have done sod all, according to our estate agent they're the only firm in our city that don't send any enquiries or correspondence until they have the searches back, our buyer instructed them the first week of July and they still haven't done anything!
I keep holding onto the hope that we'll be in in September, am I mad?

13 weeks sounds less time that I'm half way down...
We have surveyor coming tomorrow? I haven't sold for years so have no idea what to expect. Online it said to tidy and make your house look tidy now I'm worried as I'm going on holiday and packing to move so house is a bit messy!

Everything's in and sorted. Just waiting for this damn legal aid redemption figure. Hurrumph.

Only then can we exchange.

Jeeez I thought Id done quite a lot of packing but all of a sudden the house seems full!! wouldnt be too bad except my dad and brother are both away this week so no childcare and trying to get anything done with little ones around is almost impossible!! cannot wait to get those keys in my hand come Friday!

Anyone found a good price for boxes? They seem so expensive!

@2moveornot2move We've been getting them free from Homebase if you have one near! They tend to put out their used boxes towards the end of the day. Luckily my mum has just moved house and has given us a load too.

Can't believe how many boxes it takes - packing up the study (which is TINY) and have already filled 7 boxes.

Thanks @emdude. Unfortunately no Homebase here. All of the stores I have tried so far are either open top boxes or come in plastic crates.

My dd worked at local hospital. Got porters on board to find her large strong boxes

Put a post on a local Facebook noticeboard.
Once I’ve unpacked (maybe in a few years!!!) I’ll post my boxes for free on there.

And the amount of boxes is unreal! I had 24 of just kitchen stuff 🤪

Actually quite jealous of you guys that have exchanged and are packing, or those of you whom have completed and unpacking.

But. One day that will be me. Just need to hang on in a few more days. Hopefully.

After 16 weeks, we exchanged this week and are packing up ready to move tomorrow. Lots to do but what a relief!

Boxes. I bought some from Argos. They were a good size. Then I got some online too. They seemed more expensive.

The removal company are meant to be dropping me some in this week too ( incl in the price of the move).

All enquiries completed and have requested exchange ASAP with completion second week September. Keep fingers crossed for us!

I bought boxes from Argos- they had an offer on with about 1/2 price off 2 weeks ago so worth a look!

I’ve packed as much as I can and still had no date for exchange or completion. Living amongst box towers is not fun. The solicitors are unavailable to talk today. Still one more day of the week left- maybe I’ll hear something tomorrow (my motto at the moment).

Found out today that our vendors have sent our solicitors approx nothing. He says that's unusual. EA says "they don't want us incurring costs yet" as they cant find anywhere to buy. They're going to pull out aren't they?

Everything is done. Contracts signed but not dated. All enquiries sorted. Indemnities in place.
Just waiting on one thing. One simple thing. Then good to go.

So I thought we had a firm date.

However now the too/bottom off the chain wants to push it back another fortnight.

Not happy here. Neither are those immediately either side of us in the chain.

We're just waiting on final enquiries for our purchase. Our sale is a bit further behind, they're waiting for the local searches and are then going to raise all their enquiries in one go. Hopefully this should be next week. Not sure how our vendor's purchase is going. We go away mid September and I really want to be moved in before we go!

Aargh the stress. Waiting to hear back on completion dates.

@legolimb - how come the dates are jumping around? Have you exchanged yet?

Our buyers solicitor has been giving us the run around for weeks. On Tuesday I lost my Sh#t and told them that we needed to complete by Friday or we would walk away.

Had a call this afternoon to say that the bottom of the chain still have one enquiry and that their contract will not be sent out until that enquiry has been satisfied.

It's likely to be Monday or Tuesday now but I feel stupid now threatening and then just accepting it.
