We've filled up the old one! (maybe someone on a mobile device could add a post with this link though?)

We did our price drop and it's turned up 3 new viewings for this weekend. Had a :headwall: moment though - the EA were fully booked so turning away people we wanted weekend viewings despite us repeatedly saying we're happy to do viewings if needed Angry

nigelsbigface · 05/05/2017 11:04

Hello-can I join you? My house went on the market last Friday-three viewings so far and two more booked in for tomorrow. No feedback yet.
I'm nervous as there is a house over the road from us also on the market but for 15 k less-it has a smaller garden, is mid terrace (ours is end) and needs modernising-but I worry people are seeing both and wondering if the higher price on ours is worth it.Im not sure it is.
The house I want to buy has been on the market for ages and the owner has said they won't show anyone else round for a month to give me chance chance to sell-though I'm not sure they've had that many people interested for a while-it's a very niche house that needs lots of work. There is another house I'm interested in in the same village, but other than those two Im not fussed on moving anywhere else, so it's a weird situation-if we don't get either of those because ours doesn't sell then we probably won't move.
I'm really hoping one of the viewings from this week wants ours as I've promised to have my Mums dog to stay whilst she is away next week-and although a lovely dog he is huge, malts black hair and smells vile. It's been trouble enough keeping things tidy with 2 dd's and our little dog so I don't like my chances with a second enormous hound in the mix!
I've been in my house 10 years so it's a while since I've done this.I forgot how stressy it is! Confused

Outbackshack · 05/05/2017 16:47

Keep going everyone. We are on viewer 12 still no offers. All feedback is that kitchen is too small (it is). Considering rebuilding kitchen now to utilise the cupboard under the stairs but would be a credit card job and still might not sell....anyone successful with a project like this or any suggestions?

SchnitzelvonKrummsverylowtum · 05/05/2017 19:55

Keep the faith everyone!

Although dream house has sold, we viewed a house today that I think may be even better! We've made an offer, and the vendor has confirmed they're happy with the amount. They haven't accepted it yet though, as they are looking at a house this weekend and haven't decided whether they're going to buy or go into rented for a while. Fingers crossed!

Beckyb1 · 06/05/2017 07:12

We've accepted an offer!!! Grin

Hogterm · 06/05/2017 07:21

Hi, can I join please? We are in the lucky position of having put our flat on the market and having an offer two days later from the first batch of viewings. But we want to stay in the same area and can't find anything we like and it's scaring me loads as don't want to lose our buyer.

There are 7 three beds in the area. Seeing the last one today. Struggling between just settle for one of them as they are all bigger than we have now and we just need space or hold our nerve and hope something comes up that is better. The seven are actually all about £30k lower price than we can pay so not unreasonable that a better one could be found but risky. Aaaggghh. I am not good at house buying.

m0therofdragons · 06/05/2017 10:35

Estate agent coming to day to value. We were supposed to have another yesterday evening but he cancelled by email asking us to call to rearrange. I'm probably being unreasonable but dh had rushed home in his lunch break and dc were on high alert to not make a mess for him to cance an hour before. Puts me off that agent.

SchnitzelvonKrummsverylowtum · 06/05/2017 11:35

Congrats Becky!

jazzmin · 06/05/2017 11:35

Congrats Becky! Tell us more, was it your most recent viewing? X

Beckyb1 · 06/05/2017 11:57

Was very bizarre. Viewer rang to look on Thursday. Was stuck in traffic, we had to stay out as he was desperate to view and arrived an hour late, he was only her 10-15 mins with agent. Gave no feedback. Whilst I was bridesmaid yesterday I saw the agent ringing. Answered in between photos and they had put an offer in of full asking price, want to move quick as nearing completion on their flat and are buying g our house to rent out. I am now frantically trying to find somewhere to go and we are on holiday from Monday! Wink after 8 months we may very well be moving!! Don't give up hope guys! Honestly these last two days have been sooooo weird. And have now had to cancel our second viewer that was booked in for next week Blush

jazzmin · 06/05/2017 12:51

Wow... you've almost inspired me to tidy up in case the phone rings lol! Brilliant news.

DoristheNovice · 06/05/2017 12:52

Brilliant news Becky Grin

Beckyb1 · 06/05/2017 14:36

Thanks! jazzmin I had a need on Tuesday to declutter and my husband had bought a massive gym equipment and we had to get rid of a dining table in our conservatory. It's been so weird this week, the agent did say it's been quiet the last few weeks and last week he's been rushed off his feet. Hope you guys get some luck too!! schnitzel got my fingers xd for your dream house!!

PartyintheKitchen · 06/05/2017 17:39

Huge congrats Becky!!

Fingers crossed for you schnitzel.

Great to finally have some good news on this thread.

Outbackshack · 06/05/2017 21:05

Congratulations Becky and schnitzel. Gives me hope!

m0therofdragons · 07/05/2017 22:27

We've given the EA that came yesterday the go ahead. It's so hard to not get carried away imagining things. I keep having to mentally tell myself it might not happen and it definitely won't happen as fast as I'd like. I'm so impatient. How are you all not losing the will?

OVienna · 08/05/2017 07:18

Can't believe there's a house for sale on this thread on a road we previously lived on.

Louey/ I am finding valuations in our area very odd BTW.

Back later to post properly.

Beckyb1 · 08/05/2017 07:33

OVienna who? I'm so intrigued!!!

Fortheloveofscience · 08/05/2017 07:37

Haven't been on for a couple of days, congrats Becky. Schnitzel - I'm thrilled you found something you liked more so soon after missing out on your "dream house".

We had a viewing yesterday and have 2 this afternoon, keeping my fingers crossed that the mumsnet viewing thread luck rubs off on us.

PoochiePie · 08/05/2017 12:02

After switching agents 5 weeks ago, and them having no viewings despite us reducing, we've now had a FTB viewing on Saturday (no feedback yet), and just got a call for a viewing from someone else in 4hours. Hoping some of this mumsnet luck is rubbing off!! Also wondering if maybe things are picking up generally??? Fingers crossed !

OVienna · 08/05/2017 12:03

It's actually Ciancianese's road we use to live on. Very outing but we've stayed in the same general area.

Our story is that we 'sold' last year but decided to pull out and take a secondary school offer for DD1 locally when we didn't get the price we wanted and discovered how bloody expensive it was going to be to move to our target area (Bishops Stortford.) We also lost houses on probate issues and were used as a stalking horse in another case. It was a mad, mad few months. In any case, we've just stored up a problem for the future (DD2). Because I feel we messed the agent around before, I don't want to put our house on the market until we're sure we're up for it this time. So we've started looking at schools and areas again so things aren't in such a desperate rush next time around.

nigelsbigface · 08/05/2017 15:31

No feedback from any of our viewings.we had 5 last week.is it the done thing to call the estate agent to ask? But I assume one of them were interested in it given that we haven't heard anything...

Linkee · 08/05/2017 16:17

Hi, can I also join?

My house has been on the market for two weeks and have had 12 viewings but no offers Sad with mostly negative feedback about my lovely house!

Agent says people say that it is small and two people complained that the neighbours next door were looking at them? Not sure what this is about as I never see the neighbours. The house is pretty clutter free and I asked the agent if I should remove some more furniture but they said it is fine as it it..

I'm worried that we are maybe asking too much? The house is in very good condition though and has significant advantages over others in the area e.g. parking, garage etc. We are in London and I know the market has cooled but I have no idea how long it would normally. Grrr!

Ciancianese · 08/05/2017 16:23

Hello OVienna how funny! I was a bit worried about posting too much discussing the sale in case that happened! Its a friendly street and I think I can guess who you are!!

I have had a good selling experience with house simple, under offer in a month, so maybe try that? As well as saving money, I am not such a fan of the local agents,

m0therofdragons · 08/05/2017 19:22

Documents signed and photographs being taken on Thursday. I called an agent asking to view a house on Saturday (it's empty so not bothering a family and they know we're in the process of getting on the market). Agent was hilariously negative. "Oooh you realise it's got 3 flights of stairs... you'd have to make the top floor out of bounds for the children as it's a spiral staircase. And the decking banister is wobbly so please be careful!"
We currently have a 3 storey house and dc are 5.5 and 9 so pretty reliable on stairs Confused
