We've filled up the old one! (maybe someone on a mobile device could add a post with this link though?)

Congrats schnitzel!

NearlyFree17 · 21/04/2017 12:02

Hi everyone. We put our house on the market about 4 weeks ago. Had 5 viewings in the first couple of weeks and since then nothing. None of the other houses in our area are selling either and there is very little coming on the market. Is this the same everywhere?

Lilmisskittykat · 21/04/2017 12:47

Seems to be the general trend here.. I have about 15 houses in my watch list ready to view when we sell and some of them have been on for ages now.. not all over priced too...

General slow down ? Maybe? Or a move towards lower house prices to sell

Congratulations Schitzel!

How odd re unlucky number!

had estate agents here today, one more to go.

I've had 2 value it at one price and 2 at another, £150k lower Confused

Outbackshack · 21/04/2017 17:59

Congratulations schnitzel. We are in viewer 9 now...no offers yet. Feedback is always lovely house but not for us. Fingers crossed for the right buyer asap

CatLover67 · 21/04/2017 18:38

Hope not Moving2017 Not everyone believes in unlucky 13 superstitions.

4 viewings booked in tomorrow. Fingers crossed.

jazzmin · 21/04/2017 19:01

The new houses near me have missed out number 13 altogether, so may be more common than we think.
I'm glad ( but not, obviously) others think the same as me. I don't think our house is overpriced and had no viewings for 5 weeks. Similarly, houses I love are still sat there too. Nothing is moving!

SchnitzelvonKrummsverylowtum · 21/04/2017 19:10

We've sold! A bit less than we wanted, but not too much.

However, I think the agent is playing games with us. They are also selling the dream house, though another agent is marketing it as well. We previously had an offer accepted, but got gazumped. That sale fell through, so we asked if the vendor was happy to proceed on the basis of our previous offer. The agent told us no as they had agreed a sale through the other agent - they told us what price and we upped our offer accordingly. We still haven't heard back, as apparently the vendors are going away for the weekend. Having checked the website of both agents and Rightmove, the property isn't showing as sold on any of them. This has us wondering whether there is another buyer or whether they're just trying to get us to offer more. I don't trust estate agents!

SchnitzelvonKrummsverylowtum · 21/04/2017 19:11

And good luck all with the viewings over the weekend, let's hope we all get to move to dream homes soon!

Fortheloveofscience · 21/04/2017 19:15

Good luck everyone Smile we've now got 2 viewings booked for tomorrow, our first 2 - seriously stressed! At least our expected-to-be-dream-house (on paper it looks perfect, but we daren't go and see it unless we're under offer in case we love it but can't have it) isn't yet under offer either.

BossWitch · 21/04/2017 21:36

Not wanting to derail so I've started a new thread here www.mumsnet.com/Talk/property/2909524-Rising-damp-how-much-to-reduce-offer-by

But essentially - the house we've put an offer in has rising damp. We've been advised by the agent to reduce our (currently) asking price offer. But by how much?? Just under 200k asking price, 6k quote for work done to halt rising damp and repair damage. I'm thinking knock 3k off asking as it's then - sort of - a 50:50 split on cost
with the vendor. But there's one other offer in and another viewing booked for tomorrow, so don't want to knock ourselves out of the race.

Trufflethewuffle · 21/04/2017 21:44

We have been on the market for two weeks, had two viewers the first weekend. One was very interested and did make a good offer but it had a lot of strings attached over fitting their timescales which don't suit us.
So we said we would meet their conditions if they offered full asking price. They then said they couldn't do that as the modifications they needed to carry out cost more than they had anticipated so they withdrew.

Property is a holiday let so we can generally only do Saturday viewings when there are guests in. The second Saturday there were 4 viewings lined up. On the day two of them cancelled. One was a waste of time, couple hadn't got house on the market, live close by and we think they just wanted a nosy round. Second couple looked around in a lot of detail but it seemed they were looking for more of a fixer upper.

However, during the week the agent called us to say he had received an offer from someone who had only seen the internet details. The offer was not acceptable at 10% below asking price. Agent is talking to them to see if they will view and increase the offer but I doubt if we will hear any more from them.

More viewings lined up for the weekend and next week so hopefully we can sort something soon.

Has anyone else had offers like this non viewing one? Is it a "thing"?

drspouse · 21/04/2017 22:06

No news on viewings but we're gearing up to move next week.
Have just started a thread about the gap in our new kitchen.
Please answer as DH is doing my head in with his indecisiveness!

CatLover67 · 22/04/2017 10:36

Good luck to everyone having viewings today.

As I said, we had 4 lined up today. Two have cancelled already. Let's hope the others don't.

It's really doing my head in. We are getting bookings for viewings but most of them cancel at the last minute. All with a similar excuse. I don't know what to believe anymore Hmm Confused

Outbackshack · 22/04/2017 13:49

Viewing 10 today. Good luck catlover67. So rude when they cancel

LarrytheCucumber · 22/04/2017 15:50

Missing out 13 is quite common round here, but as a lot of the roads are numbered round a cul de sac it is a bit obvious that number 14 should really be 13. We are in number 14, but on the plans plot 13, which kind of gives the game away!
Didn't put us off the house though.

CatLover67 · 22/04/2017 16:50

Thanks Outbackshack. Hope your viewing went well. And LarrytheCucumber, thanks for that. I suppose not everyone is bothered otherwise all the no 13 properties will never sell.

Really fed up though. Hopes were raised today with 4 viewings booked. They ALL cancelled at short notice. Usual excuse. Kid in hospital or stuck in traffic. Strange how all cancellations (and we've had quite a lot) have used the same reason for cancelling.

At least that's what EA is telling me (when they've bothered to call me that is). Sad Hmm

Beckyb1 · 22/04/2017 17:04

We have had someone cancel their viewing for Monday. Think the nice weather has made people have last min plans and make the most of the weather... We are going on holiday at the beginning of may and we're hoping we would receive an offer by then, I think I was being too optimistic!! 😂

Loueytb3 · 22/04/2017 18:23

Really sorry for all of you who have had cancelled viewings. That's so annoying, and rude when they don't even let you know.

Slightly surreal day here. 4 viewings this morning. Couldn't really work out how 1&2 went, they didn't give much away. No 3 basically offered to buy it at the asking price for cash by the end of the viewing. I didn't know what to say and ended up saying that I needed to speak to DH and they needed to go through the EA. They wanted to leave their phone number!
Apparently they have just sold their business. It's on the market for 1.25million, so that is a hell of a lot of cash. I just hope they are legit.

No 4 turned out to be the son of our decorator. They are v keen but haven't sold their place yet.

We have another viewer lined up for Monday morning and apparently they are cash buyers as well. It could be a very interesting day....

Shortdarkandfeisty · 22/04/2017 18:28

Bite their hands off Louey! That sounds good.

Fortheloveofscience · 22/04/2017 19:52

Our 2 viewers did at least turn up today but no idea how it went. I've also discovered the house we're interested in has had an asking price offer from someone in our situation, so it's a race between us now to see who sells their house first Sad.

Louey that's crazy, but amazing news for you, you must be thrilled.

Louey that's crazy (and the decorators must be doing well too, unless his son is a banker of course).

Loueytb3 · 23/04/2017 13:48

It is crazy isn't it. We desperately need a break. Have had such a shit year - DH has been out of work since the end of 2015 so we are running out of money! I think the decorator's son is a graphic designer from what I recall and I remember him saying that he had done very well.
