Would anyone like an 'in a chain' support group?

Would anyone like an 'in a chain' support thread? We're selling and buying and it's so stressful!! We've found our 'dream house' and had an offer accepted, had an offer on ours within a week which was subsequently retracted. Wondered if anyone else was finding this whole process ridiculously stressful?

apples good luck tomorrow with the move

Northumberlandlass · 22/11/2016 08:30

Morning!
Went out for a fancy lunch & afternoon concert yesterday, picked up a bottle of prosecco on the way home - it was supposed to be our 'after moving & stress' treat!! Anyway had a lovely time - haven't packed or sorted much (although I was completely packed 3 weeks ago).

Anna - sounds hopeful! Fingers crossed you get a date agreed today.
Zoe - that's great news, I'm so pleased for you.
Sparky - I would hold firm! More neck than a giraffe.
Pin - We had so many delays, it's so stressful. Fingers crossed that you hear something positive today.

Ok - now onto top moving tips! I have a VERY small car.
I have overnight suitcases (we've been living out of them for weeks anyway)
Cats
Box with kettle, mugs, tea bags & coffee, sugar & biscuits
My jewelry box
Hoover (I'll have a whiz around just before I leave)

Any more top tips?

AnnaELC · 22/11/2016 09:54

North

I'm sat waiting on a date.....

Right your car - you definitely need your folder with all your house bits in it and contact details for everyone.
Can you fit your bed linen in with you so you know where it is?
Cats food and bowls
And the most importantly - 2 bottles of wine (1 isn't enough) and a glass.
Oh and a loaf of bread Smile

Northumberlandlass · 22/11/2016 12:37

Anna - genius! Wine! How did I forget that?! I have a 'House' Box with all my useful documents in. Thankfully my friend has said she is free with her car too.

Let us know when you get your date! It sounds crazy but after months & delay upon delay, it's seems to have come around quickly!!!

Mommasoph30 · 22/11/2016 13:05

In the car I had sleaning stuff to hand and kettle tea toaster and all our important paper work!

Good luck North X

ApplesTheHare · 22/11/2016 13:41

Good luck North! So excited for you and hope it all goes really well.

Anna any luck on the date front?

Moving out is going very smoothly today. Luckily the relatives we're staying with are lovely, which definitely helps. From what the solicitor said we'd thought we'd complete on our purchase in a couple of weeks but when I dropped the key for our house off with the EA today she asked where we'd be living for Christmas. Slightly concerned now as she'd also the EA for our purchase and when we decided to break the chain she also said she thought a couple of weeks Confused

DollyDuck · 22/11/2016 13:55

Apples Fellow chain breaker here. Currently five of us living with my brother with no move date in sight. I would definately follow up and put the pressure on now for a proper estimated date.

Have now tried emailing the boss of the vendor's estate agents to complain about our whole sorry complicated saga (which they are responsible for - lies, lies and more lies) and ask for a proper, realistic move date otherwise we'll have to pull out and move back to our old house. I've put all the children's Christmas presents into storage because they were so convincing about how solid our decidedly unsolid chain is Sad

Northumberlandlass · 22/11/2016 15:27

Thanks everyone!
Apples - pleased moving out day is going well. Any chance she was joking by asking where you'll be for Christmas?! I really hope everyone wants to get moved before then.

Dolly - sounds very stressful Sad I hope you get some answers from the vendors estate agents.

Anna - I hope you are quaffing fizz celebrating your exchange or at least an agreed date! .....(fingers crossed)

Tonights tasks are:
Pick up some damp stain paint (to cover stain in kitchen - it looks like our bath/sink pipe had come disconnected on flat roof Sad - we've fixed that, I just want to cover the stain a bit)
Wash kitchen cupboards inside & out
Dust whole house (well bribe DS to do it)

Then I'll worry about what I need to do tomorrow night!

AnnaELC · 22/11/2016 17:18

Evening all... no date yet! But I do know we have all agreed (from the estate agents) apparently it's our buyers solicitor holding everything up AGAIN! Don't know what else to do apart from wait. My worry now is, that if we ever do get to moving day, that they take ages sending the money!

ApplesTheHare · 22/11/2016 19:46

Evening everyone

Anna what on earth are they waiting for now? Once you've exchanged and agreed a completion date at least they won't be able to drag their feet in the same way.

North that's such bad luck about the roof.

Dolly I thought my fellow chain breakers were you and Arsenic but couldn't remember. Flowers for the packed up Christmas presents, that sounds so stressful. Do you have any idea when you'll get a date?

I've joined the Wine gang tonight Smile

Pineau · 22/11/2016 20:02

Got phonecall today at 5 pm - we have exchanged and complete this Friday!

AnnaELC · 22/11/2016 20:13

apples so pleased move number 1 went well. I have Wine too.

dolly sending you a glass and a group hug.

pin that's great news (show off)

My solicitor rang me after work and she's exasperated with our buyers solicitors. She's back on the case on the morning.

north just get it painted and it will be fine! Concentrate on your packing first and clean as you go out the door. You have been cleaning for weeks, I'm sure it's immaculate anyway.

Northumberlandlass · 23/11/2016 08:43

Morning!
I'm feeling kick ass, but wondering why I'm at work....
I have a car full of stuff to take to tip on way home.
I have blagged some coffee cups & lids from Starbucks for removal guys so I can write on name & order, then they can be reused. Top tip from my Dsis

Anna - all agreeing is progress.. we had that too! Then the cheeky crap FTB Solicitor had the nerve to chase ME as I wouldn't agree to a date without having confirmation the removal firm were free.

Pin - Awesome news! That's not long between exchange & completion. Hope you are all ready...

Ceiling - I bought some spray damp seal (it's white). Looks loads better, but we will reapply tonight. Plus there isn't a paint smell.

I HAVE been cleaning for weeks. The house I am buying has been empty for 2 years, I know the family cleaned it 3 weeks ago when we thought we were moving, so I'll be cleaning again this weekend.

Can't believe it's TOMORROW!
I've also arranged a night out on Saturday as BF at work, DS at his Dad's & Sky can't come until 30th. Perfect excuse! Grin

thenewaveragebear1983 · 23/11/2016 09:17

Hi all! Glad to hear things are ticking along, at least for some!
North moving tomorrow? How exciting! I had cleaned like a demon but there were still things to clean on the day because when the big furniture comes out there's always loads of dust and general icky stuff left behind. And under the fridge, washer and freezer in the utility was disgusting!
My moving day tip- get a set of key fobs from the £1 shop. Then when you find out which key is which you can label straight away. And make sure that your box of essentials really does go in your car- our movers very kindly offered to put our boxes of cleaning stuff and tea making on the Lorry, then dh instructed them to put those few boxes straight into the garage- hence all cleaning and tea making right at the back of the garage!!!!

Northumberlandlass · 23/11/2016 10:35

HI Bear - I saw you were asking for decorating advice yesterday in "Home Decoration" and I am so happy it's all going well for you.
Yes - tomorrow!! I have a list. I have sent it to BF who will be there tonight, but is working tomorrow. I think we have about 2-3 hours of work left.
Key Fobs are now on my shopping list for tonight. Thanks!
As I am moving alone tomorrow, my friend is going to take some of my more precious stuff in her car & I'll drop that off in the morning.

Are you enjoying your new home?

SparkyBlue · 23/11/2016 11:28

Best of luck to all of you moving soon. It's so bloody stressful.
Well we ended up knocking 2k off the price I swear to fuck she has also knocked the goodwill out of me. I had been explaining to dd how we had to be so careful with our house as another lady was buying it and we needed to mind it for her. I feel like telling her to scribble all over the place now 😡😡😡😡.
Now waiting for get her to sign but the delay will mean we are going to loose a house we wanted so going to go back to second choice house now.

AnnaELC · 23/11/2016 11:40

Morning All,

bear nice to hear from you and thanks for the tip - I now have fobs!

sparky people are such tossers aren't they! I am so close to the end of my tether its unreal.

North I'm so happy for you and hope the move goes really well. I need a night out after all this - I might be found, sat rocking in a corner, with a bottle of something and a straw, very drunk.

We are still waiting on our buyers solicitors to o.k. the dates. ! Its been since Friday afternoon and my patience is wearing very, very thin.

AnnaELC · 23/11/2016 12:53

Ok so everyone and their solicitors are now waiting for the FTB to agree the date - their solicitor rang them and emailed on Friday about it and have had nothing back at all.. Aghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Northumberlandlass · 23/11/2016 13:16

Anna How bloody frustrating! At least our FTB had the good grace after all the delays to say she could move any day!! I hope you hear today.

Sparky Good grief, what a nightmare. So does that mean all paperwork has to be redone? Could you ask your first choice house to wait? I really feel for you Sad

SparkyBlue · 23/11/2016 14:55

Anna first choice house also has a cash bidder so they are obviously not going to wait now for us to get organised they are going to accept the lower offer😢😢😢😢.

AnnaELC · 23/11/2016 17:17

sparky oh no that's awful sending you Flowers

We are still waiting on the FTB to decide if they can make the date the rest of the chain agree on.... it took me 15 mins to speak to the removals people, unsure why they have taken since Friday evening. I'm trying to remain calm..

north sending luck for tomorrow- let us know when you are in with filled glass in hand. Wine

thenewaveragebear1983 · 23/11/2016 17:34

North yes, it is really lovely but I'm feeling the strain of constant decorating and jobs to do. We have had various hiccups, leak in a flat roof and issues with chimney, and some electrical stuff we already knew about. It feels like a lifetime ago that we were in the chain zone though and it's only 2 weeks!
I'd forgotten the little headaches that happen when moving, getting the heating sorted and working out the alarm and the boiler, and the keys (hence the key fobs!). Everything takes so long just to get started.
It is beginning to feel like home though, and once we've decorated the Lounge we are downing tools til after Christmas.
Good luck everyone, I have been lurking with interest waiting to see you all get your moves!

Zoe1983 · 23/11/2016 18:51

Anna and Sparky, I'm so gutted for you both. I don't have any great words of advice sadly, but feeling so frustrated for you. It seems like you're both being held hostage by buyers down the chain. Really hoping things get moving soon xxx

smallone · 23/11/2016 19:52

Hi all, sorry for the absence, I have been really ill with tonsillitis/quinsey and kids had hand foot and mouth! I swear we're all getting sick from moving stress! We've never been as ill as we have been this year.

Haven't caught up yet, but from our side, my date of the 12th has faded away, buyer's Solicitors won't discuss dates as they're not far enough along. I am battle weary of the whole thing now, if it wasn't Christmas I wouldn't care, but can't cope with the not knowing enough to make any plans or do any packing. At this rate it could still be the 12th, or it could be February. Gah! Can't even drink as I am on anti-biotics Envy

AnnaELC · 24/11/2016 07:46

Morning all

Zoe thank you. I'm hoping today will bring news, but who knows.

small I was wondering where you were lately, sorry to here you are all so poorly. Sounds like it might be good for you to try to take it easy for a while. This whole get in before Christmas is a nightmare for everyone at the moment. You never know it might all fall into place for you (I really hope it does)

north happy moving day!!!
