Would anyone like an 'in a chain' support group?

Would anyone like an 'in a chain' support thread? We're selling and buying and it's so stressful!! We've found our 'dream house' and had an offer accepted, had an offer on ours within a week which was subsequently retracted. Wondered if anyone else was finding this whole process ridiculously stressful?

No Dh hasnt got the jobs done ELC, but they just little niggles! He gots 10 days off from today, so he has a list lol X

Zoe1983 · 18/11/2016 13:10

Hi Northumberlandlass, so good to see you've finally exchanged! It must be so nice to have a completion date and able to get everything moving.

We're very lucky to have a friend with a man & van removal service, so he's going to help. The benefit of only being the two of us is that at least we don't have a mountain of stuff. But I'm still doing the packing....x

AnnaELC · 18/11/2016 13:48

zoe mine works away and it amazes me how much he's done considering he wasn't here ! Hmm

Northumberlandlass · 18/11/2016 14:12

I'm on my own (well I have a BF, can I have a BF at 43?) for move next week DS (13) will be at school and BF is at work. Can't be helped. I shall have to manage!
I do have a few men & a van coming to move me & as I thought I was moving 3 weeks ago, I'm all packed (ish)

I am so relieved Zoe - there are only 3 of us in the chain and the offers were accepted mid August ! It has taken such a long time.

Northumberlandlass · 18/11/2016 14:13

I've been on FIRE at lunchtime calling & sorting change of addresses....
Only 6 more to do and I need paper work from home, so will do that Monday.

Feeling energized!

Sending good vibes to you all along with Wine & Flowers

AnnaELC · 18/11/2016 14:27

Go north I love it when you get stuff like that done. I spoke (actually spoke) to my solicitor who is hopeful for next Wednesday to exchange. Sending Flowers to you too.

Northumberlandlass · 18/11/2016 14:51

I have everything crossed for you Anna !
The fact that your solicitor is sounding positive is a good sign.

ApplesTheHare · 19/11/2016 20:56

Congratulations Soph and North! Its so good to hear about people's good news on this thread. It gives me hope!

We're now completing on our sale and moving out on Tues. I still have no idea when we'll complete on the purchase but I'm going to be on the phone to the EA and solicitor every day. We've started trying to get everything to the state where the packers can swoop in. I'd forgotten how incredibly time consuming moving is and I'm so relieved DH convinced me to go for packers as well as movers! 😀

AnnaELC · 21/11/2016 07:46

Morning All

Sending positive vibes for this week to everyone! Keep the faith Smile

Northumberlandlass · 21/11/2016 08:34

Morning! I am beginning to think I should've done more this weekend. Although I have 2 evenings. Tomorrow I shall wipe down all woodwork & wash kitchen cupboards AGAIN (I did it all 3 weeks ago) & then pack up what is left.
Honestly, it still doesn't seem real.

How do I deal with my cats on Thurs? Both are indoor cats & I am moving on my own as BF at work and DS at school. Should they be the last to leave & first in? One will be on a carrier & one on a leash (I can't get her in a carrier!)

AnnaELC · 21/11/2016 09:33

North sounds like you have made a good start, I have been doing OCD woodwork cleaning, its driving my DH mad.

Regarding the cats, mine will be in his box I'm going to leave him in our smallest bedroom (which is empty) and put him in the box at the very last minute.

I'm hoping to hear something today, my EA seems to think we will exchange Tuesday or Wednesday and move the following week. (We will see) My buyer came round on Saturday evening, she had a good measure up and seemed genuinely excited to be nearly there. Keeping them crossed.

Mommasoph30 · 21/11/2016 10:00

HI North,

Can you put the cat and dog in kennels/cattery for the day?
The door will be wide open and the movers move things fro different rooms so u cant just put the animals aaway so to speak.

I sent my cat to grandads for the day lol, which was a godsend.! X

Mommasoph30 · 21/11/2016 10:02

sorry read the other cat as dog as you said leash! lol X

Northumberlandlass · 21/11/2016 12:09

Anna I was thinking about you this weekend. I have everything crossed you will get some news today.
I'm pleased your buyer was excited! Hopefully she'll be pushing too.

Thanks Soph & Anna re cats...I can't put them in cattery (both are nervous) - I will probably do as you suggest Anna & empty one room for them, put in beds / some of my clothing, trays & food & water. Then take them last out of the house. I just don't know how long it will be from me leaving mine & getting keys for next one.
It all depends on how quickly the FTB Solicitor starts the funds transfer & he hasn't bee quick up until now!!!

AnnaELC · 21/11/2016 13:14

Thanks North well the EA rang and said that we are no further forward and our buyers EA has the case back in her file to chase on Thursday, as you can imagine I've let them know that that's not happening!!

SparkyBlue · 21/11/2016 14:38

Well as expected our buyer wants a lowered price now that contracts are due to be signed. I was half expecting it so not too upset but we are not planning on lowering the price any further. Unfortunately we will now loose the house we wanted.

AnnaELC · 21/11/2016 15:31

Sparky how much are they looking at under the original offer?
I hate the fact that people go all this way in the process and think that they can hold you to ransom. Well done for saying no!! Flowers

Pineau · 21/11/2016 15:38

Hello, we were supposed to exchange last Tuesday but buyers solicitor then said Friday as needed another piece of paper.
Friday, one of the solicitors was not in office so exchange is for today.
My solicitor has spoke to my buyers solicitor who is now chasing the ftb solicitor.......
What's going on? Am thinking one of the buyers has had the wobbles and they are stalling for time in the hope they would change their mind...Ahhhh!

SparkyBlue · 21/11/2016 16:46

Anna she is due to meet the EA this afternoon to discuss it. I think she is really chancing her arm as we live in a very old house and in our area some houses literally have had minimal work done to them since they were built almost 100 years ago so she is comparing the price to a neighbours that sold last year. Neighbours house had no heating or bathroom and almost needing rebuilding.

AnnaELC · 21/11/2016 17:29

sparky hang in there and don't budge.. sending you Wine

pin I've been thinking similar about our chain for weeks and weeks, keep the faith..

AnnaELC · 21/11/2016 17:31

zoe how are you getting on?

north get packing !!! Grin I had a call from our solicitor earlier and we are discussing dates, would you believe that the one and only date we can't do over the next 2 weeks is the one our buyers chose, we ran out of time today so are still waiting to hear when or if it's all happening.

Zoe1983 · 21/11/2016 20:22

Sparky, I'm so shocked they would lower their offer now. That's absolutely scumbag. I'd stick to your guns as surely they are also now heavily invested in the sale going through? Sounds as if they're just chancing it. After paying for surveys, solicitors, mortgage applications fees etc surely they wouldn't want to waste all of that now? To be fair though, I'm a first time buyer so have no experience of this.

Anna...are you all set to exchange Thursday now?

Afraid I have no experience of moving cats!

However, after a ridiculous Friday of yes/no/yes/no....today we have finally exchanged Grin massive, huge relief! Should be completing next Monday...now to finish packing!

AnnaELC · 21/11/2016 20:36

zoe that's great news!!! Congratulations. I'm still waiting to hear, hopefully tomorrow we will know more (I hope so anyway) I have opened Wine trying to be chilled.

Zoe1983 · 21/11/2016 20:48

Wine is definitely the way to go. If I wasn't hopelessly up the duff, I'd have been reaching for it every night the past 8 weeks! Have managed to do a good replacement line in packets of biscuits instead Wink

AnnaELC · 21/11/2016 21:06

I will drink your share Grin and you can have my biscuits.. I am hoping tomorrow brings good news
