Would anyone like an 'in a chain' support group?

Would anyone like an 'in a chain' support thread? We're selling and buying and it's so stressful!! We've found our 'dream house' and had an offer accepted, had an offer on ours within a week which was subsequently retracted. Wondered if anyone else was finding this whole process ridiculously stressful?

I've been ruthless with 'stuff' - I did a car boot sale (spent profits on a fancy meal & cocktails to ease the stress of moving), 4 trips to charity shops and I've lost count of the amount of times I've been to the tip!

I actually don't have that much to move! I'm disposing of large furniture before move to buy new stuff.

Just had email from solicitor - she has now received confirmation from all involved that 24th is good for completion and she is requesting my funds from lender. She said she would chase them this afternoon for confirmation the request was being dealt with & we would complete today or tomorrow! Grin Grin
Not popping the cork of the fizz just yet!

It is exciting though, isn't it! Creating our dream homes Smile

Mommasoph · 16/11/2016 13:25

Well we loaded and van at 11 .30 and just sat outside waiting to move in our sellers too stingy to hire removal van so doing various trips ! We have completed just waitingt to get in and lose our stuff ! It all started so well

AnnaELC · 16/11/2016 13:38

Good that you are there soph hope they don't have too much more to move out Flowers

AnnaELC · 16/11/2016 13:39

Ohhhh North that's great news Wine I'm so pleased for you.

Northumberlandlass · 16/11/2016 14:00

Thanks Anna - I'm trying not to check my emails every few minutes. It could easily take until tomorrow I suppose. I just have that flicker of hope!

Soph - do you actually have the keys? Has it all gone through?
I would be so pissed off if that were me! It's your house now! They should have been more organized. I'm Grrr'ing for you.

Northumberlandlass · 16/11/2016 14:03

I mean we'll exchange today/tomorrow & complete 24th... Confused

Mommasoph · 16/11/2016 14:19

They have the keys ! We just waiting outside for them to come back ! It's cold and I'm getting pissed off nowv

AnnaELC · 16/11/2016 14:24

Soph get on the phone to the EA and kick off! That's taking the piss.

North I have been refreshing my emails every minute few minutes for weeks.

Northumberlandlass · 16/11/2016 14:32

I agree with Anna - I would be going nuts.

I'm trying to focus on work Confused
I'm going to core strength & circuits tonight to get rid of some stress!

Mommasoph · 16/11/2016 16:56

They left at 2.30 there estate agents say 2pm to leave so not too bad ! We in and shattered everything in by 4 hubby unpacking I'm at my moms with my daughter for tea! My advise hire removals don't do it yourself and delay everything 😂😂😂

AnnaELC · 16/11/2016 17:08

That's good soph I hope the unpack goes well.

ocelot41 · 16/11/2016 19:53

Wow, so many people have made such great progress! We are now back on the market after a broken down chain. So three months later, here we are again!

Northumberlandlass · 17/11/2016 08:15

Soph - so pleased you are in! Advice has been taken - I have a removal firm & I'm moving into an empty house. Although the couple buying mine are doing it themselves!

Ocelot Wine I hope you get some interest really quickly & it goes smoothly for you.

I didn't hear anything back from my solicitor yesterday - so hoping to hear we have exchanged this morning. A week today could be completion. I have a busy weekend ahead!!

Any news Anna ?

Mommasoph · 17/11/2016 08:20

Well we in love the hours hubby not happy as there is a few budge jobs that he needs to rectify but it's never going to be perfect

DollyDuck · 17/11/2016 08:23

Well the packers have been and we're out of our house and living with my Brother for an unspecified amount of time. After forcing us to break the chain (move out, live with DB for a week, then move to new house because vendor is on holiday) because of a "solid" first time buyer who would pull out unless it went through this week, it turns out the FTB finances weren't actually approved and now there's going to be at least a two week wait for them to get approval.

However, we've already paid thousands for removals/storage/dog in kennels/kids after school club for moving this week so have had no choice but to move out and leave our house empty as we can't afford to pay it all again. Fuming, frightened and fed up Sad I cannot believe the EA didn't double check the "solid" FTB's finances before forcing us to break the chain.

Hope everyone else is having more luck than us. I already have a horrid feeling we might be moving back into the house we've moved out of. Will read properly and catch up later. Good to see from my quick scan there's been some movement on the moving front Smile

Northumberlandlass · 17/11/2016 08:30

Dolly - that sounds like a nightmare Sad
Our delay was caused in part because our FTB didn't have her mortgage offer, she'd only had the mortgage promise from when she put the offer in.
The EA at the bottom of the chain also lied when asked if she had received a copy of the mortgage offer & that everything was proceeding - we thought we were moving 3 weeks ago.

flownthecoopkiwi · 17/11/2016 11:24

Woo-hoo! We are buying a probate sale property and had asked executors to pay for electrics check, heating check, wall lights fitted where missing and £3.5K worth of repairs to get helibars fitted as there was some cracking.
All agreed to do! Hoping to complete on 9th Smile

Northumberlandlass · 17/11/2016 11:45

Flown - that is excellent news! Well negotiated.

Question: My solicitor requested my funds yesterday from Halifax but won't exchange until she has received confirmation it is being processed. The others in the chain are now Hmm with me! I haven't been the one causing the delays.
Is it usual for the solicitor to not exchange until confirmation from Lender is received. Obviously I have my mortgage sorted & all signed for! (now I'm beginning to worry Sad )

AnnaELC · 17/11/2016 11:50

Morning All,

dolly that sounds similar to what I think is about to happen to us.
North nothing at all, spoke to our EA last thing last night and she was still waiting on our buyers solicitor (surprise surprise), so now the whole chain is just waiting for them and tbh I've had enough - I am very, very close to pulling out, we are in week 13 and are exactly the same position as 4 weeks ago with everyone ready apart from our buyers.
I've been told today that the FTB at the start of the chain (who have been living at her parents for 17 days) are ready to do the same.

flownthecoopkiwi · 17/11/2016 11:57

Reading all these stories I'm glad that our solicitos is also working for our buyers buyer. At least she can talk to herself.
We did sell our house in May tho so our buyer and hers have shown remarkable patience.

Northumberlandlass · 17/11/2016 11:57

oh Anna how frustrating.
I think I'm in week 13 too & we were expecting to move 3 weeks ago. Such similar situations.

AnnaELC · 17/11/2016 12:17

north I think I'm just having a wobble today. I haven't bothered my solicitor yet as she is getting as frustrated as me. It's just getting a bit much now. Sad

Northumberlandlass · 17/11/2016 12:22

Anna - I know what you mean. I am being told by EA that my buyers & bottom of chain are frustrated at not exchanging but my solicitor is saying she won't until she has confirmation from Halifax that they are processing my request for funds....
I feel like the bad guy now!

AnnaELC · 17/11/2016 12:57

Hi North I think that is normal.. you can ring Halifax and push from your end as well. I hope it all goes through for you today.

Northumberlandlass · 17/11/2016 13:31

Oh thanks! I'll call my advisor now.
Thanks Anna
