I'll start.

A kitchen island.
A hall console table.
A corner sofa.
New rugs.

I am thinking of getting a plumbed-in Miele coffee machine.

I prefer seeing limescale and then removing it with Viakal.

Than doing what?

"it must be nigh on impossible to buy a yellow loo these days"

I can sell you one right now, but you'll want to be quick, it's going in the skip tomorrow.

Its friends the yellow bath and sink are already in smithereens down the tip.

I do like the coloured stuff, and especially the pastels. And I really love the toilet, it has lovely proportions and and handle flush, and a slim cistern, it's basically my perfect toilet. Sadly the sink and bath were the wrong size and battered as hell respectively, and DH really wants the sanitaryware to all be the same colour, so my perfect toilet must die. I've given it a little 'thanks for the hard work' pat this morning and genuinely feel a bit emotional about it.

Toliets ain't wot they used to be. All these water saving flushes and shallow/narrow loo pans where the poo lands on a ledge and sits there without enough force in the flush to wash them away cleanly are TRAGIC.

There will be a high demand for second hand old style loos soon.

Crossfitmyarse · 03/04/2015 09:40

Thanks for that link Sweet.

do you know what? I am in the process of buying a dinky little holiday home and I need to refit the bathroom. I might just throw caution to the wind and do something mad…..

TiggyD · 03/04/2015 09:42

A goat corpse. Possibly a deer corpse. Or a cow corpse. To be honest, it's the 'corpse' aspect I'm not keen on rather than the animal.

And the usual twiggy shit.

I'm be willing to try most stuff as I do like a bit of kitsch. I really fancy those sunken seating 'conversation pits' which were all the rage in the sixties.

grumbleina · 03/04/2015 10:21

So true crossfit. Push button bloody flushes. And if you do find a toilet with a handle flush, it's ALWAYS 'old fashioned' styled, covered in ledges and curls that trap grime and won't go with my bathroom.

Very nearly ended up buying a SN toilet, simply because it was the only one I could find that was somewhat modern with a lever flush. But it was crazy expensive. So I'm stuck with a sodding button.

Oh also to add a new thing to the list: pop up wastes. Hate.

I lived in a flat with the most gorgeous original 30s mint green bathroom suite once.
My ideal bathroom would be totally deco, with something similar, eau de nil tiles and metallic deco wallpaper ( sorry wallpaper haterz).
I would also love a serving hatch have yearned for one since being a child. How fun are they?!

Cocolepew · 03/04/2015 11:01

Beams
Cat
MIL
Red accessories in the kitchen
Brown or beige type paint

Cocolepew · 03/04/2015 11:02

I only buy tab top or eyelet curtains, I can't stand the ones you have to pull in.

specialsubject · 03/04/2015 11:06

sorry, eyelet and tab top curtains are on my useless items list: let heat out and light in. Although decent design of curtain rails/hooks would be good, I've inherited several in this house that wreck the curtain tops.

PrimalLass · 03/04/2015 11:15

I've just bought thermal lined eyelet curtains from Next. The top of the curtain skims just under the ceiling so they are great for keeping the light out. My most hated household job is hanging curtains. Eyelets forever.

I want to live in Rafaela's house

mum2015 · 07/04/2015 10:19

@MsAdorabelleDearheartVonLipwig,

"One of those daft signs that says 'live, love, laugh' or some such bollocks" ...

they really put me off and I thought it is just me who cant tolerate those!

RaphaellaTheSpanishWaterDog · 07/04/2015 13:30

Aw, thank you Athrawes :@)

DrCoconut · 08/04/2015 21:34

I have a primrose bathroom suite in my yard at the moment. The skip arrives Friday Grin . It was fine while we were settling in here but the time came to get the bathroom done. Kitchen next when we if we ever can afford it.

Cantdecideondinner · 15/04/2015 13:53

I hate wood burners,
free standing cookers
Stripped wooden flooring
Brown wooden shutters
Messy bookshelves
Lots of separate rooms especially small sitting rooms and dining rooms when they can be knocked through
Antique rugs
IKEA generic pictures

I love open plan, kitchen islands in big kitchens, loads of windows, very modern and lots of meaningful photos

I wish we had an ensuite and my next project is fake grass as my footballing children have totally knackered my lawn.
