Shall I inform the school and other parents?
The person spent 4 years in jail and I don’t feel comfortable that my child Is in one classroom as the convict’s son.
I know school probably just cares about their money but isn’t it a bad look for them to have a convict within their community?

OP posts:

Will those who had to share a classroom with Farage and Johnson (and much of Parliament) receive any compensation?

OMGitsnotgood · 25/01/2026 08:38

KindOpalBear · 25/01/2026 02:59

People like this (criminals) shouldn’t be allowed In private schools.

So it’s ok for them to be at school with the ‘poor people’ who can’t afford private education? Unbelievable.

Unhappyitis · 25/01/2026 08:39

This is pure rage bait.

Ha, wise up. Go into any private school reception on the day fees are due. You’ll find more than one character paying the full fees in cash…

I'm curious, would paying school fees in cash trigger some sort of security check? Like rocking up to an estate agents with a million quid in a suitcase to buy a house?

HoorayHattie · 25/01/2026 08:43

What a shame this isn't AIBU . . . . I know which way I would have voted (and I imagine it would have been a 100% vote)

Sortis · 25/01/2026 08:45

Why are people engaging in this discussion?

Clarabell77 · 25/01/2026 08:45

Private schools are going to be full of future criminals, look at all the privately educated MPs and their shady activities.

Diddums 😂

This will be far from the only child of a criminal in your pr cipus school, convicted or not.

Try to get a grip.

😂😂😂😂😂

Lovely.

So it's one of those posts designed to show private school parents just how much contempt other people have for them.

That will make us feel more engaged with society and OK with ever-increasing theft redistribution through higher taxes...

Oh god I’m so sad that a fake mumsnet post has made you feel less engaged with society 😢. And I’m sorry I keep stealing your money cos I’m so poor 😭😭

Alwayswonderedwhy · 25/01/2026 08:47

So you don't think children of criminals deserve an education?
You're naive to think that everyone that sends their kids to private school makes their money in a legitimate career.

XiCi · 25/01/2026 08:49

WeirdyBeardyMarrowBabyLady · 25/01/2026 03:13

If you’re serious then you’re naive. Serious criminals adopt the trappings of wealth as soon as they can and that often involves paying for their children to go to private school. You can report and action may be taken depending on the backbone of the head but rest assured there will be others - you just don’t know about them.

Exactly this. Pretty much all mid to high level dealers send their kids to private school. There will be a lot more there with your child than you know of. The school won't care as long as they are getting paid.

You are either very naive or very stupid. There is probably more than one ex-prisoner whose child goes to this school, and every other one you could pick. Plus those who got away with it.

Dgll · 25/01/2026 08:55

All my suspicions about private school parents have been confirmed, They are truly despicable! Oh the joyous outrage I feel!

I sincerely hope your child's private education gives them a better outlook on life than yours.

All the money in the world cant buy class, kindness or decency.

Well said. We could have afforded private education but wanted our DC to have a more well-rounded experience. The child the OP is expressing concerns about is highly unlikely to be pushing drugs in the playground, whereas her child and those of people like the OP will be pushing the values they are getting from home, which are not in line with ours.

Well people who post rage-bait shit shouldn't be allowed on any social media platforms, yet here you are.

onlymethen · 25/01/2026 09:03

You sound like the parent of my school friend that at the age of 8 took great delight in informing me and her daughter that a school friend of ours dad had been sent to prison for fraud. I remember even so young thinking she shouldn’t be telling us this. Guess what…. Her daughter has been no contact with her for years.

LizzieBananas · 25/01/2026 09:03

Just to take you at face value, does that mean the victims of domestic abuse can’t stay at private schools? They are the children of criminals after all.

Inform the school all you want. Beyond safeguarding, they will not care.

donttellthem · 25/01/2026 09:05

Someone I knew sent her two daughters to private school, she had her own business. Taxman investigated her, she owed hundreds of thousands in unpaid PAYE tax. Thats how she was able to afford the fees. Not paying PAYE tax as an employer messes with peoples' futures.

I hate to break it to you OP but there’s a lot of dodgy money funding private fees in this country, especially in London. A few years inside for dealing is the least of it.

AgnesX · 25/01/2026 09:08

OP, are you for real?

Private school where a fair percentage of fees will be paid by dodgy earnings of some kind.

Dollymylove · 25/01/2026 09:09

Scissor · 25/01/2026 03:10

Oh you are funny!

I remember Cynthia Payne who ran her brothel to pay her son's boarding school fees. Great film about her starring Julie Walters.

I think it was fraud she was convicted of, taking luncheon vouchers for services rendered.

The son was completely innocent of any crime, as will this child be.

I remember Cynthia 😍😍 there was a film made about her
