Is it considered slovenly to write names on everything or do I have to sew labels on like a saddo?

I have written names on so far for dd1 but she only had coat/gloves/scarf combo for playgroup

School 'strongly recommend sewn in labels'

will my card be marked as Sloth if I send her in with marker pen tags on her cardigan?

Sorry, that should be Blu, of course.

I use sew-on labels. they take the most amount of time at the start but you don't have to worry about names fading, labels coming unstuck etc. Once you've sewn them on, that's it, so worth that bit of effort.

Laundry pen - 99p - Partners.

Sorted!

REBELlatrixlestrange · 19/07/2007 22:12

Don't do sewing if I can help it, so pen every time here.

I did buy the labeltags once, with just the surname on so I could use them for all three boys. They were useful but there's a bagful of them somewhere because I put them somewhere safe

If you do use pen though, do check every now and again that the name has worn out.

Probably depends on the school. I don't know anyone who writes it on. We found someone who sewed them on for a fee which was the easiest method.

snowleopard · 20/07/2007 10:27

Aha that's such a perfect Xenia solution! - pay someone

Actually I would happily be paid to do it.

EricGallagher · 20/07/2007 10:29

You pay someone to sew tags onto your childrens clothes?

Dear Lord, I bet you had a wet nurse aswell

Enid, the A surname B thing is dead fiddly in reality.
In the time it takes to unpick the A, fold it under, unpick the B and fold it out, then resew, you could have ripped out the old label and sewn in a new one.
Or maybe you have nimbler fingers than me...

EricGallagher · 20/07/2007 10:59

I'm going to get the butterfly ones for DD

Enid · 20/07/2007 11:03

they are on the cashs website megg

so sweet

i really want navy with white stitching but it will clash with royal blue sweatshirt

hmmm o the difficulties of modern life

Judy1234 · 20/07/2007 11:13

Even better when we paid someone, I said to my husband - find someone to sew them on so he foudn the someone, he took the goods to that person and collected them. Best subcontracting I can remember.

So make labelling uniform your husband's job as a matter of femininst principle today. It's the little things that matter.

snowleopard · 20/07/2007 11:16

But I like doing it Xenia...

He can take out the bins and make my tea, is that OK?

Enid · 20/07/2007 11:35
