Anyone nervous for primary school admission results?

State primary admission results are.out this week. We have to wait for a letter, how retro, as we did a paper application for a deferred Reception start (DD is 5 in July, some minor additional needs). Really really hope we get a place at the friendly local school a 5 minute walk away! Anyone else waiting and want to chew their nails with me?

I hope all those who need to appeal are successful.
Here they work out distance as the crow flies but makes no sense.
Our school is a faith school and ds has his sister there. I only put one choice for him. He's baptised at the school church too so was very unlikely he wouldn't get in.
Lots here didn't get their first choice of high school this year.
Thanks to all those disappointed today

anyone else still waiting? what on earth is taking so long? should I call the council? Has DS been forgotten?

ThisIsTheEndgame · 16/04/2019 10:37

Our letter just came, we did get our first choice, so relieved. It's been a long old wait, she ought to have started last September (she'll be 5 in July) so we've been looking at schools for over 18 months trying to get a delayed reception start approved.

@ThisIsTheEndgame Congrats! Thanks

RiddleyW · 16/04/2019 10:39

I’m still waiting Chev - are you London?

GenericHamster · 16/04/2019 10:40

My county doesn't reveal allocations until 'the afternoon'. Sigh.

ChevalierTialys · 16/04/2019 10:43

RiddleyW - yuuuup SW London... guessing you are too?

bookworm14 · 16/04/2019 10:46

All the London boroughs seem to be doing theirs in the evening.

Stilltryingtocatchwind · 16/04/2019 10:50

@car1sberg spitting distance from me. I’m sure you’ll get into B it’s a huge new building and lovely

ShakingAndConfused · 16/04/2019 10:50

oh dear.... this is an all-day-wait situation... I'm not good with those. I'll be in bed with nervous exhaustion by 5 Grin Grin Grin

Yes! Urgh wish I wasn't today - schools situation is absurd.

MsMarvellous · 16/04/2019 10:54

@cheesenpickles I just started our group. I did it my daughters year too 😂

JanartaMeen · 16/04/2019 11:00

I'm a London Borough too. Have other London boroughs given a time? Ours just says 'some time this evening'.

cheesenpickles · 16/04/2019 11:02

@MsMarvellous I just can't handle that level of responsibility GrinGrinGrin

MsMarvellous · 16/04/2019 11:04

@cheesenpickles you should have seen the disagreement about what to rename the group after we weren't 'new starters' anymore. Bordering on all our war 😂. But I rule with an iron fist.

ChevalierTialys · 16/04/2019 11:07

schools situation is absurd - this is why I'm fretting.. every school in my area is oversubscribed and we don't live particularly close to any of them so all the children living closer will get the distance priority and DS could be left with no place.

I might be having a Little Raincloud Of Doom day.

cheesenpickles · 16/04/2019 11:10

I bit the bullet and set one up. Funny how intakes or 30 were immediately set up but 120 nobody had.

Coldilox · 16/04/2019 11:11

Caved in and called our first choice school, we got in!

RiddleyW · 16/04/2019 11:13

Yes me too. My husband reckons if we don’t get something we can walk to then we should homeschool for a bit. I’m really not so sure.

ChevalierTialys · 16/04/2019 11:40

ExP is saying if we have to delay for a year then so be it... I don't know anything about delayed starts.. don't they end up going straight into year 1? I wouldn't want that..

‘All the London boroughs seem to be doing theirs in the evening.‘

Always like this for all London boroughs and Surrey, every year for both primary and secondary allocations

MsRabbitRocks · 16/04/2019 11:48

^clever isn’t it iVampire, to avoid taking panicking phone calls for another day Grin

AppleKatie · 16/04/2019 11:49

Still waiting here 😱

Missmonkeypenny · 16/04/2019 11:53

Hoping to appeal and are on the wait list for the three we did put down. After speaking to nice admissions lady this morning, she tipped me off which schools in the area have spaces so I have put in late applications to those too and will be harassing them all by phone on Tuesday morning after the Easter hols are finished.

The school they have allocated us too is pretty crap. I’ve just looked at the stats and only 23% of pupils there meet the national target for reading, writing and maths. I am not a happy bunny but willing to fight for this - I will be home schooling if I have to until a suitable place comes up!
