We got our results today, still trying to decipher raw/scaled score. DD got EXS for everything, which is great, but it's very hard not knowing what she would have got on the old system!

GDS isn't awarded in the tests so it's not possible to tell you what math your child actually got in the tests

Pigeonunplugged · 15/07/2016 18:00

Our school won't tell us their scores!

Just standard not met or EXS

spanieleyes · 15/07/2016 18:04

Wave

www.gov.uk/government/uploa...016_NCT_results_at_the_end_of_key_stage_2.pdf

under their noses, they HAVE to give you the scaled score.

Pigeonunplugged · 15/07/2016 18:07

Links not working, I asked why the scores weren't on the sheet and head said 'we've decided not to issue them, was there a particular reason you wanted them?'

I didn't have an answer!

DiamondAge · 15/07/2016 18:38

Pigeon How about "... because you are required to give them to me if I ask for them."

PonderingProsecco · 15/07/2016 19:14

We got year 6 scores but not year 2 as teacher assessed outcome.
Are you talking ks1 or 2?

DaisyJones3232 · 15/07/2016 23:26

My daughter worked hard and it paid of , she said the exams were hard and she found them tough! she got 119 Grammer 118 reading 116 maths. Her teachers results were EXS but for writing she got GDS.

SansaClegane · 15/07/2016 23:52

Also interested if schools have to give you the scores or not? Had my son's report today and it had the 'GDS' type marks, but not actual scores.

areyoubeingserviced · 15/07/2016 23:56

We weren't given the scores either .
Do any teachers know why the school will not give parents the scores?

SansaClegane · 16/07/2016 00:02

Also just saw in a government leaflet that the maximum possible score is 115? Confused So how did some DCs here get 120?

Ellle · 16/07/2016 00:25

The maximum possible score was 115 for KS1 and 120 for KS2.

Feenie · 16/07/2016 00:25

Because that leaflet is for.KS1, which is 115, notbKS2, which is 120.

sparepantsandtoothbrush · 16/07/2016 00:27

sansa I'm glad you posted that as our school sent out a chart today detailing school results vs national results and the chart only went up to 115. DS got above 115 in maths and SPaG so I don't understand the 115 limit!

sparepantsandtoothbrush · 16/07/2016 00:28

Sorry x-posted. Lazy editing from the school office in our case then

PonderingProsecco · 16/07/2016 05:10

Super sonic scores here!
Anyone whose child got less don't panic as these scores well over the average...
100 pass threshold and around 103 and 104 the average.
Also, still element of teacher assessment at KS2.
One paper my ds did, result fine, but from report clear in class working at higher standard and teacher comments and teacher assessment indicated that.
SATs results, even at KS2, are just part of the picture. Teacher told year 6 parents that reports will be sent to secondary and other info to give more rounded view of a child than a single snapshot test.

BeadyEyedPeas · 16/07/2016 06:29

We didn't tell our DS what he got for his SATS. We just said he had done really well and that was the end of the discussion. He hasn't mentioned any score comparing and I'd be really angry if he did.
As with everywhere, there are some children in his class who definitely won't have made the 100 mark. Why should they feel like failures already? Also there are some very bright, obnoxious boys who would be lording their marks over everyone.
I hate this comparison of whether your child is a 'success' or not. They may get to secondary and find they have a talent for languages, or DT or science and no-one will care that they got 103 and not 117 on the SPAG. Bloody stupid tests. Just another stick for children, parents and teachers to beat themselves with Angry

Super sonic scores here!

It clearly demonstrates that MN is in no way representative of society as a whole Hmm

PonderingProsecco · 16/07/2016 07:22

Hope my message clear that supersonic scores with this thread not my ds!
I too not told him scores but allowed him to read his report as felt teacher comment and assessment most important.
Also report covers other things like being a good role model and generally more rounded than simply scores on the door...

nuttymango · 16/07/2016 08:32

I'm finding it quite depressing with all the talk of preparation at home for the sats, we made a conscious decision not to get dd to do extra work st home to prepare. She has had enjoyable year six and last year at primary school so I'm glad we made that decision, there is plenty of time to work for exams when at high school.

Mandzi34 · 16/07/2016 08:38

I am so pleased that SATS results have not been discussed at our school. My DS was happy with his report and didn't care what he got in the SATS, which I agree with. I'm assuming and hoping that the secondary schools will have their own methods of assessing them and won't pay too much attention to SATS results.

validusername · 16/07/2016 10:58

DD's secondary school have already told us their target grade at GCSE will be based on their SATS results.

PonderingProsecco · 16/07/2016 11:20

Well hopefully those targets at secondary won't be set in stone.
Also, let's hope teacher assessment is the most important element for secondary.

mrz · 16/07/2016 11:30

The secondary targets are set by the DfE using test results

PonderingProsecco · 16/07/2016 11:37

Can a secondary limit a child somehow through aiming for say low target or will a secondary be open minded about children?

mrz · 16/07/2016 12:10

Why would they limit?
