Wondering if schools will have received them yet?

DS got a 6 in Maths, one of only 2 out of the 15 in his class that did the L6 paper. He got 5s for all else, and 5As in teacher assessments.

But he did the 11+ last year, and that was the Big Thing. SATs really mean diddly squat here.

I'm prouder of DD this year, who as an "average" August birthday has had a stonker of a Y4, working with the new harder curriculum and whose SAS scores have gone through the roof.

@wheresthebeach - I think you need a subject access request (whatever that may be!) Maybe the way forward is to ask the school what it is!

"Your pupils and students have rights to see their personal information. They can make a subject access request to see the personal information you hold about them. They – and their parents – also have the right to see their educational records."

Does a SAR have to be in a particular format?
No. A SAR simply needs to be made in writing and, if you require
payment of a fee for dealing with the request, to be accompanied
by the fee. You may not insist on the use of a particular form
for making a SAR, but making a form available may assist the
requester to provide the information you need to deal with their
request.

reading on, it say the fee is maximum £10 (altogether i think that would be excessive since they don't exactly have to get the data out of some storage depot 1 few miles away!)

and...
What information is an individual entitled to?
Subject access is most often used by individuals who want to see
a copy of the information an organisation holds about them.
However, subject access goes further than this and an individual
is entitled to be:
• told whether any personal data is being processed;
• given a description of the personal data, the reasons it is being
processed, and whether it will be given to any other organisations
or people;
• given a copy of the personal data; and
• given details of the source of the data (where this is available).
An individual can also request information about the reasoning
behind any automated decisions taken about him or her, such
as a computer-generated decision to grant or deny credit, or an
assessment of performance at work (except where this information
is a trade secret).

Info has to be given within 40 calendar days (I don't see anything about being closed for 6 weeks!)

Basically you could probably just hassle them into handing it over.

I would say however, that although i was very curious about DS1 2 years ago, and slightly curious about DS2 now, I now know the info isn't really useful beyond knowing exactly how well my child did one week in May 2013 or 2015.

Thanks Var.
I don't get why they won't give us either sub levels or raw scores. Seems other schools do without an issue. I just need to know if she scrapped levels or is secure as DD is dyslexic and we are discussing support for next year.

var123 · 16/07/2015 18:20

That's fair enough. Its very strange that they should be trying to make this difficult for you.

Here are the grade boundaries:-
www.forschoolseducation.co.uk/2015-key-stage-2-thresholds-with-sub-levels-and-sats-results/

so when you get the raw scores, you don't need the school to give any more info - I take it you've been given the teacher assessment data?

HPFA · 16/07/2015 20:17

It's completely absurd of schools to refuse to give the marks - my school was a bit reluctant but evidently decided it wasn't worth the argument. As you say, there's a difference between scraping through and being one mark of the next level - you have every right to this information.

CocktailQueen · 16/07/2015 20:21

Dd got level 6 in SPAg, level 5 in maths and reading. She was disappointed with that as the school has been banging on about them passing level 6s all year. Hey ho.

Schrodingersmum · 16/07/2015 21:26

Some schools still haven't given out sats results!

wheresthebeach · 17/07/2015 07:55

Teacher assessment is also just a straight level. If I had sub levels I'd be happy as it gives me the info I need. They've refused that too!

CarlaJones · 17/07/2015 08:48

My dd got one mark below the next level for Spag. One mark below the next sub level for reading and two marks below the next sub level for maths! I'm hoping that the secondary school have the actual grades passed up and not just the levels!

Cheeseandhamtoast · 17/07/2015 14:57

My DS got a level 5 in his English but a level 4b in his teachers assessment. Which score will his secondary school be more interested in?

var123 · 18/07/2015 12:24

when does your school break up for the holidays wheresthebeach?

If it comes down to whether its more of a pain to dig the levels out and give them to you or try to fight a Subject Access Request, then you might win more easily if all they have to do is get the info out of the top drawer i.e. before next term.

At some point, maybe before next term, it will be archived and then it will be much harder to get that info.

Funnily enough, i have not asked for it but Ds2 says the teacher has asked to see me on Monday as she wants to tell me.

StrumpersPlunkett · 18/07/2015 12:35

Thank you whoever posted the link to the numbers scale
DS was devastated to get a 4 for his maths not a 5 and with that I was able to say to him that he had done really really well and was 1 point off a 5.
we all feel so much better about it as he has always been stronger in maths so we were a bit shocked.

wheresthebeach · 18/07/2015 19:38

They have broken up. I will respond on Monday. Grr
Thanks again x
