Is anyone else dying to find out which school they have been allocated?

This is for my PFB which makes it extra difficult for me :(

I can't talk about it in real life as it starts off as a nice casual conversation ending with some delusions of grandeur PFB nonsense Blush

For those who can log on at midnight you can almost say it's tomorrow that we find out, as the next day doesn't start until you have been to bed no?
Eeeeeeek

Pikkewyn · 14/04/2015 07:54

I was having a chat with out head and reception teacher yesterday about this years allocations and they have said it is quite a small birth year unlike last year's huge intake where only 4 who were not siblings got in they will be able to offer places to all who requested. So fingers crossed you will all be okay and it is a small group in your areas too.

It's the opposite in our area Pik. The winter of 2010 was a baby boom and the knock on effect from that has been very apparent over the last few years. Fingers crossed that is not the same all over the country.

Urgh I'm dreading it. I have one waiting for a reception place and one waiting for a nursery school place. The school we want is oversubscribed and the only other one we'd accept is half an hour's drive away (eldest is doing his nursery year there currently. If we don't get either of those we're taking our ball in and home edding until we get something satisfactory. We live in a rough area with some shit schools and there's no way they're going somewhere shit. Can't afford private.

Twine88 · 14/04/2015 08:29

Apparently where we are last year was a big birth year (which I well believe going by how short allocated distances were). But, I have not paid much attention to local birth rate as i figure people move about so much..plus its one more factor beyond my control! I woke in the middle of the night confused as to what day it was and if i needed to check at midnight tonight or tomorrow Confused. Get a grip woman! I am still not sure if i should log on and check at midnight, if its bad news I won't get any sleep - and with two under fives a lay is not an option is it? But chances are if i don't check I will just lay there thinking about it..

MTWTFSS · 14/04/2015 08:47

How do people know about the birth rate in an area?!? NO, do not tell me... I cannot go mad over another set of statistics :P

Don't look..there only madness lay.

TiedUpWithString · 14/04/2015 09:07

There will be no point logging on at midnight. Looking at how anxious this is making people feel, you're unlikely to sleep well anyway even though you know there is nothing you can currently do to affect the outcome. I am nervous about it and have dreamt about it but I will not be trying to stay up to see! From what other posters say, it seems that emails tend to go out by lunchtime on the 16th.

I will of course be obsessively checking on the 16th between work appointments! Grin

RatOnnaStick · 14/04/2015 09:07

I know it was a big birth year in 2010 as the midwife said so when I was pregnant. Luckily he is September born so just missed out on the previous year's oversubscription problems for the nursery and subsequent school places.

Last year at preschool they were full to bursting. This year (since September) its a noticeable drop as so many children went up to reception. They are still full but have one or two spaces at a few sessions and only two children per coat-hook instead of three.

That should have a knock-on effect on reception places? Yes?

ShadowStone · 14/04/2015 09:15

When I registered DS1's birth, the registrar made a comment along the lines of there'd been lots of babies born recently. Presumably because she'd been registering a lot more than normal. Hopefully most of the extra babies don't live too near us or our first choice school.

MTWTFSS

my apologies but there is no way I could sit through that. Sorry Blush

this is 40 is on netflix and MN reported it to be funny..... might be also sufficiently brainless?

If not we will think of something

nutelladipper · 14/04/2015 09:21

I'm worried sick about it. Last year only children within 700m (via Tarmac paths) got in and we're 750m and this year we have 50 new houses in catchment.
I'm dreading it.
My son has low muscle tone and needs regular exercise so I've stated in my application how being in our local school will help with this as we'll walk daily. I'm not sure if this will help or not.
Will they go online at midnight or will I need to be checking all day?

Eeeek

Gileswithachainsaw · 14/04/2015 09:24

yku might have medical grounds in appeal maybe nut. worth looking into.

sounds hard for you too :(

nutelladipper · 14/04/2015 09:38

Thanks Giles. Fingers crossed for all.

Does anyone know how they prioritise a waiting list? If a place comes free who gets that place?

2010 was a bumper year in our area - our school distance cut off was the lowest ever. Will be interesting to see if it has dropped. Our school nursery is full but that may just be due to popularity! 50 new houses with no extra places is so daft. There are bound to be a few applying ..

PenguinsandtheTantrumofDoom · 14/04/2015 11:07

I am afraid I won't be staying up with you all, but might watch the movie earlier in solidarity Grin.

I am hoping our admissions this year should be straightforward : we are a sibling and well within normal distance even for first borns. My nervousness is mostly around the irrational fear I cocked up the form. How many times did you guys all log back on and check it. I think I'm in to double figures. Blush

nutelladipper · 14/04/2015 11:07

Thanks Tiggy that's really helpful.
No evidence re his muscle tone has been given as there was an option to add supporting information but if we don't get in it'll be part of my appeal!

Thank you

MTWTFSS · 14/04/2015 11:27

PenguinsandtheTantrumofDoom I'm planning on watching the movie from 8pm :)

Great. If I get the baby to bed on time I'll join you (otherwise I might be a few minutes behind). Smile

MTWTFSS · 14/04/2015 11:45

I see it has the same characters as the film "Knocked Up". Has everyone seem that one?
