Is anyone else dying to find out which school they have been allocated?

This is for my PFB which makes it extra difficult for me :(

I can't talk about it in real life as it starts off as a nice casual conversation ending with some delusions of grandeur PFB nonsense Blush

I'm counting down and very anxious of what I might be offered. We live in a borough where there are more children then school spaces where many were schools were forced to have bulge classes although none planned for this year. Majority of the schools catchment are 0.9 miles or less with many being between 0.1 and 0.4

I'm thinking positive but the day cannot come quick enough

GoogleyEyes · 12/03/2015 08:11

Me, too. Should be fine, sibling priority, but catchment was 100m last year and I just want to see it in writing.

cartoonsaveme · 12/03/2015 08:16

Hope everyone gets something good. We were there last year and it was torture. I was so nervous about our fate. I don't like not being in control !!

SantasLittleMonkeyButler · 12/03/2015 08:26

Me too. We will hopefully be OK as have chosen the local village school, but no guarantees.

DD has no sibling priority (DS2 is at secondary school) & there are a high number of sibling applications this year apparently. We also live on the far side of the village from the school so might just miss out.

Or I might be worrying about nothing!

Gracie32 · 12/03/2015 09:25

Yes, I'm literally on pins. My daughter is in year 5 at an out of catchment catholic primary, so there is no guarantee my 4 year old ds will get a place at the school?? I'm just hoping for the best as I can't even imagine what it would be like to have to get two children to separate schools everyday!

Gileswithachainsaw · 12/03/2015 09:33

Me too. I have a thread going as well. It was stressful first time round (we didn't get school we wanted) and I'm. bricking it about it this time.

dd1's school is lovely and I really need dd2 to go there as the environment is a good fit.

don't know what I'm. Going to do if it doesn't happen.

I've just realised that the school we want our ds to go to has a PAN of only 50 children for two classes. So if we didn't get a place for him would we stand a better chance at appeal as the school itself wouldn't be going over the 30 children to a class rule? I'm just thinking worst case scenario but I suppose it's better to be informed just incase it does happen.

Me! We are hoping Dts get the local catholic primary (we are practicing RC) but there are obviously two of them and it is single form entry. We tried to work out the siblings going through and we think there are 12 so actually only 18 places (less if there are any looked after children who are first priority).

Absolute worse case scenario would be one gets in and one doesn't but I don't even want to think about that.

tiggy

do you know how long a sibling link lasts in waiting lists?

dd will be yr 4 so will it count til dd is's in yr six or not?

hellospring · 12/03/2015 11:37

Tiggy - thank you!

Thanks tiggy

I will check their criteria.

I'm. dreading it tbh as I can't he in two places at once 4/5 miles apart on public transport and rush hour traffic.

It's just not possible one will not make it to school til at least 9.45

MTWTFSS · 12/03/2015 12:04

At the moment I'm eating super healthy as I know this Easter I'm going to be eating so many more chocolate eggs than usual :(

Monday night I woke up at 2am convinced it was the postman with a letter telling me what school we've been allocated :( I have it bad!

Gileswithachainsaw · 12/03/2015 12:13

I had a dream first time round that we had been allocated the one school we didn't want.

came true Sad

you are not alone I assure you.

maskingtherealme · 13/03/2015 21:45

Well my PFB isn't due to start Reception until September 2016 and already I am beginning to be anxious about it!!!!

Each year group at our local school (only school in village and others 5 miles away) has seen numbers increased. It only takes 50 and this September numbers will either be very close to 50 or just over. My PFB year group is larger again!

The school is in the centre of the village and my street is literally the last street in the village and worried that disance (0.5 miles) will be against me.

Also a friend lives in the town 5 miles away. Her DS already goes to my village school. Her DD is due to start at the same time as my PFB but friend lies on her application and puts her parents' address as her own (she did for her DS) and they live literally round the corner from the school. I don't want to be in the scenario of having to snitch on my friend if her DD gets into the school on false information if my PFB doesn't!

MrsKCastle · 13/03/2015 22:52

I feel everyone's pain. We'll be hearing for DD2 and there shouldn't be any question of her not getting a place, thank goodness. But 3 years ago, waiting to hear about DD1 and it was a different story. The school had some very strange rules at the time so we were lucky to get a place, despite being only 300m away!

Hope everyone gets the result that they want.

Gileswithachainsaw · 13/03/2015 23:00

Hope you do too mrs & mask

cartoonsaveme · 13/03/2015 23:10

Mask - your friends DD will already have jumped the queue, as it more than likely that she gets sibling priority. If you loose on distance as it sounds possible you will, she's has pushed you and others out. I have no time for fraudulent people

SantasLittleMonkeyButler · 14/03/2015 06:20

Unfortunately mask, your friend could use her correct address now for DD & still get a place, as she will have sibling priority.

Your scenario sounds identical to mine, WRT the numbers increasing at the village school, nearest schools being 5 miles away, living at almost the furthest point in the village from the school..... Fingers crossed for both of us Smile.
