DSis's school and DBiL's school (both secondary) have both been working on home resources this week. Online for those who have access and in packs for those who don't.

MyHips I think you are correct. Unfortunately though, people are seeing the schools being open as a measure of severity. I.e it can’t be that serious, or they would have closed the schools...

The uk is just one massive work house to them isnt it?

I was chatting to a mum in the playground today who said ‘oh I think the numbers will go down over the weekend, I think it will be all over everywhere by the end of next week’ 🤯 I can’t believe people are really that stupid!

Very statesperson like address from Macron compared to BoJo.

All schools, colleges, unis, preschools closed from Monday in France.

Each region will set up various day care centres to specifically look after children of healthcare workers so they can continue to work.

All companies to allow workers to work from home where possible.

All compulsory payments (tax etc) suspended for March and a payment plan for this will be worked out.

Bail out plans/funds put in place if needed.

Critical cases have been added to the uk at last. It has been blank all this time even though people were in the process of dying.

We are (as PP have said) 2 weeks behind Italy not 4 weeks (13 days behind to be precise).

And accounting for these lags the curves of various countries basically look exactly like Italy...

I'm sure he said "at least 20 in ICU" I might be wrong though please dont take my word for it. I'll have to go back and re watch.

Interesting - 20 was the number of critical cases that the AMA Reddit Dr mentioned, so sounds as though that was pretty accurate.

I had a friend having a right go at me today. He said that I’m (meaning me) an intelligent woman, who is panicking about something she cannot change, that I’m doing all the sensible things, but getting myself into a state about what other people are/aren’t doing is ridiculous and he can’t believe that I’m acting like this.

I tried to explain stuff to him, but he just kept saying ‘yes, but are YOU in Italy?’ & stuff like that.

Mind you, this was the same friend taking the piss out of me for having a few spare tins in & some hand sanitiser/Dettol spray etc. Accusing me of acting like the apocalypse was coming ...and now WHO is shopping at 10pm at night last night because ‘there’s no fucking toilet paper Tesco’ and x (brother) says their Asda is Empty’. Complaining that they don’t have xyz and all this panic buying is fucking stupid (whilst shopping) - oh the irony! But it’s people like ME causing the panic buying, apparently🙄.
He’s a good friend and I love him, but holy fuck, he’s needs sharpening more than any other tool in the shed.

I would love to be one of these people who are oblivious... maybe ignorance IS bliss🤷🏻‍♀️

There is so much miseducation around this. I swear to got if one more person in my office says "I'm not too worried, I've had my flu jab" I might scream.

Ignorance - Not Bliss as far as I know. But totally get where you are coming from. It would be lovely to be so complacent as to think nothing would ever affect you in your life. As apparently half the country and the whole of our Government do. Even though one of their own tested positive.

I have few questions - 1) does this mean if we decide to keep kids at home because they cough a little , will it still be considered unauthorised absence and parents face fine? 2) What if it’s a family of 3 like me and one gets it - how is it possible for others to carry on as normal? if it’s dd it’s fine as one of us can take care. What if it’s one of the parents- how can the other carry on to work instead of caring? 3) what if we get a mild cough, stay at home for 7 days, then go back after that.. then again feel not well - do we again stay home for 7 days?
