Sorry I couldn't find a new thread. If there is one already, I'll have this deleted.

Will get links etc brought over from last thread too.

Scotland bans gatherings of 500+

Is that official?

doneaflit · 12/03/2020 12:29

@middleager re the nebuliser - would you be able to get the steroids to actually go in the nebuliser, though? I'm feeling it would be pretty redundant! My son has asthma too. I've got a supply of his usual inhalers and I'm just making sure I'm keeping on top of it all, using his preventer to his maximum dose. If he has an attack, I won't be able to treat it at home, I don't have the hospital emergency meds.

AlohaMolly · 12/03/2020 12:30

Radio 2 said they’re due to leave the meeting at 1.15 so I imagine around that time

itsnotjustflu · 12/03/2020 12:31

@Orangecake123 thank you - added to the list

I'm sick of people making announcements on FB based on rumours

good plan @pemberlyshades

MotherShip · 12/03/2020 12:32

@planningaheadtoday

Brilliant!

Feel guilty as I told my 80 year old mum to consider not going to her dancing group yesterday. She said she would speak to her friend about it. I don't want her to miss her activities but I know she would be at serious risk if she caught the virus. She is taking it seriously but not panicking. I've passed on advice from this thread and she has prepped, even rang me for advice on freezing cheese. I sent her masks and hand sanitizer several weeks ago.

doneaflit · 12/03/2020 12:33

Re first aid/home medication, I've kept it basic. No need to faff around with lemsip (unless it gives you placebo relief) as it's just paracetamol. I've got honey, lemon juice, ginger and paracetamol to make my own remedies.
First aid kit with antiseptic and dressings.

itsnotjustflu · 12/03/2020 12:35

There's been lots of March 20th rumours

VenetoResident · 12/03/2020 12:36

@pemberlyshades - just collect them if it's really stressing you. Just say it's a medical appt. Be vague.

@aliasname - they're getting particular now about which shop you go to - so I shouldn't go to the massive supermarket when I have a small shop closer. But no paper and ink in the corner shop..

Couriers are still delivering. But I imagine that delivery times will go sky high.

@Keepcalmandcarryonprepping - you can still get emergency appts here. All routine and orthodontist appts are cancelled. Makes sense as they're high risk.

@MotherShip - yes, I was glad we got DS to the dentist last week - broken brace causing gum inflammation. Get everything that might help sort that type of problem.

@misscockerspaniel - I'm the same. I've hardly slept a full night in 10 weeks. Try your best. I'm resorting to melatonin now.

@Hankyspanky - happy days! 🐔🐔🐔

@NatoPMT 💐🌷💐

@WhereDoWeGo - maybe look out for some key stage revision books. Anything to keep them busy!

@Inconvenientpig - remember paper too. A ream in a fortnight here!

@Middleager

Re nebulisers - everyone here loves them and doctors prescribe the steroid solutions for home use. I spoke to our UK medical service and they said if DC need one of those they ought to be in hospital.

Have you used one before? Could you get the solutions?

Have you got an inhaler spacer?

@doneaflit - yes definitely get lots of inhalers in. And check you have an up to date plan for illness - when DS2 has pneumonia they massively ramped up both types of inhaler.

Re Lemsip - the Tesco own brand one also had less than the max paracetamol dose IIRC. I calculated the missing amount and subbed Calpol for it!

@MakeLemonade

Does anyone know if you can visit family in a lockdown situation? I am mid renovation and currently have no kitchen so batch cooking at someone else’s house may well be necessary.

Here at the moment I think they would consider that a necessary trip.

@Tiddletadddle....

There are police checkpoints stopping people and asking what they're doing. We have to provide a declaration form for our journey.

TiddleTaddleTat · 12/03/2020 12:37

Waiting for this announcement... both me and DD are off today with what feels like mild cold/cheeriness/feeling a bit warm but no fever. She's very irritable tho which is always a sign she's unwell. Really didn't want to miss school and gave me a hard time about it.
with our symptoms I'm hoping we will be given the 'right' to self isolate with these symptoms as I'm worried that it is covid and we could infect others. I'm dismayed that at this stage it still feels like an individual decision and I almost felt guilty notifying work this morning?! Ridiculous since I'm still WFH.
We are going to try and take steps to seperate DHs things but realistically I can't see how he will avoid catching this from us. We only have one bathroom and one kitchen.

TiddleTaddleTat · 12/03/2020 12:38

Chestiness

MoreCoffeeNeeded · 12/03/2020 12:39

If scotland bans gatherings of 500+... arent some schools bigger than 500?

Duckyneedsaclean · 12/03/2020 12:40

@MoreCoffeeNeeded that's what my sister has heard too, from the LEA, she's a deputy head.

NatoPMT · 12/03/2020 12:45

Omfg - Boris wants herd immunity so wants us all to catch it

No restrictions

Fuck. You. Boris.

AlohaMolly · 12/03/2020 12:47

Was that the announcement @NatoPMT?

Readyme · 12/03/2020 12:48

Dear Lord he is going to be absolutely hounded our of office once we get to Italy numbers.

Ahoynoy · 12/03/2020 12:48

Morriston hosp Swansea had a case admitted to ICU the night before last... confirmed by dr there. Also that there is “lots going on” with covid there.... we’re not being told these things- the press at the time said 15 cases in whole of Wales (half? Less than? In Swansea area....)

NatoPMT · 12/03/2020 12:48

I don’t think so / DM headline (blush)

HasaDigaEebowai · 12/03/2020 12:48

No restrictions

Where are you getting this please?

Sprayitall · 12/03/2020 12:48

@MoreCoffeeNeeded most of the primary and secondary schools have around 200 people. So the rule isn’t useful anyways.

Readyme · 12/03/2020 12:48

Out*

Ahoynoy · 12/03/2020 12:49

Sorry I’m a long time lurker with nothing to contribute usually... just quietly reading and have been prepped since last October...

InconvenientPeg · 12/03/2020 12:49

DH said I made him paranoid about hotel surfaces (good!), Thankfully he's on his way back from his work trip and next week's trip to London has been cancelled. Floated the idea of taking DD out of school after her show next week and he was very unfazed. He usually thinks I massively over react (but her humours me!) so times are def changing!!

AmelieTaylor · 12/03/2020 12:50

No updates then? Any one know what time Cobra was meeting? I could have woken them all up at 4:15 - my now daily start to the day, no bloody show of going back to sleep!

🍆🥑🥦🥕to all xx

AlohaMolly · 12/03/2020 12:50

Haha I’m in the office and read it Nato and said WHAT THE FUCK?? Really loudly BlushBlush
