Sorry I couldn't find a new thread. If there is one already, I'll have this deleted.

Will get links etc brought over from last thread too.

@sprayitall not sure why that came out as a bottle of gin, it was meant to be a blushing face 😅

No we rent at the moment. Due to be moving asap at the end of the month as current place will be too small really once #2 arrives but it couldn't be worse timing!! 🤷‍♀️

MoonlightMistletoe · 11/03/2020 16:23

Someone who had the virus has passed away in the Republic of Ireland :(

NatoPMT · 11/03/2020 16:26

Jane - I have a list ready to go of fruit and veg I want the moment the announcement is made. I carry it in my purse. I think it will be posted here before I see it in online news / tv so I’ll start checking every half hour

@AlohaMolly that’s actually a really good point. Massive budget news considering no restrictions

It will help out my husbands business. Also showed the Osbourne Era of Austerity to be utter bullshit - this is a crowd pleaser and initially I’m pleased but not for their ‘kindness’

@Readyme I’ve banned visitors too, been a couple of weeks. I’m an introvert so it was just aN excuse 😂

@itsnotjustflu I blinded her with science. She started with “itsjusttheflu” (pardon the name check), and you can’t stop living your life etc but I told her their official advice would change very quickly as the infections progress, to look at the italy figures and see we are on the same projection, that Boris wants this with a fast high peak to get it over with quickly but that will mean more people get ill. That when we hit 800-850 cases we will be a few days off Italy’s shut down stage and when the infection will be moving really fast

I told her mine wasn’t going on the school trip on Friday, then next week would be day by day until I make the decision to take her out.

She said it would be unauthorised and I agreed and said I’d risk it. Also told her MIL has heart failure.

The desk staff really like me as I’ve not been there long but I sent the Head a letter of appreciation and thanks about the office staff (she’s attendance and admissions too) so I started on a very good foot

🚨 BREAKING 🚨

"We have therefore made the assessment that #COVID19 can be characterized as a pandemic"-@DrTedros #coronavirus

WHO- twitter

MinesaPinotPlease · 11/03/2020 16:30

Just catching up.

Work ramping up preparation and trying to work our a temporary interim solution where only 50% staff come in and 50% work from home to decrease the risk. I know which group in would prefer to be in but as my kids are teens and can be left alone during the day if schools close I have volunteered for the come to work group.

I don’t use public transport which helps.

I did mention it on an earlier thread but good to also prep your contraception! I foresee a spike in Births between Dec 20 and March 21!

lexloofah · 11/03/2020 16:30

Hello all, still just about keeping up with threads

Yeast - keeps well for me in the fridge for at least a year

Cheese - I learned this week that we do not have nearly enough in fridge and freezer, been through two of the square packs since last Thursday!

Beetroot - vac packed, mine good until Aug

Thanks for recommending Huw Richards gardening book, have been plAnting outside and on windowsill, felt so good to be outside and doing something, made me think how much we take for granted

preponderings · 11/03/2020 16:30

may be wipe her head down with dettol Wipes?or is it ott

I'd say ott. Especially if she's like my DD who sucks the ends of her hair!

MakeLemonade · 11/03/2020 16:40

“The challenge for many countries who are now dealing with large #COVID19 clusters or community transmission is not whether they can do the same – it’s whether they will”-@DrTedros #Coronavirus

This is us, isn’t it?

BanKittenHeels · 11/03/2020 16:45

@itsnotjustflu
I suspect if they know the exact location they will mark it as such (Like a hospital or hotel) but I can’t see them having data street by street? Who is updating the google map? Anyone can start one.
I create google maps all the time and just drop the pin randomly near to the vague location.

Thanks for all of your wishes on the last thread about my shifts. I’ve been back for one long and one short.
The thought of several pts turning up with bilateral pneumonia or respiratory failure will...well...I can’t comprehend it.

Some of the agency nurses who work with us regularly are self isolating after contact with a confirmed case at another hospital.

I left my well packed bag at work and after my shift yesterday went straight across the road to the supermarket and bought the same (knickers, wash bag, pjs, joggers, hoodie, phone charger, light blanket) to keep in my car as I know in other locations HCPs are being relocated within their cities when SHTF.

Sprayitall · 11/03/2020 16:47

@16943389ao People can say anything.. that doesn’t mean they are right. Why won’t anyone understand that here. It’s your dc and you being a concerned mum is not over reacting in any ways. I completely understand .. this society is insane

RedLentilYellowLentil · 11/03/2020 16:48

WHO: alarming levels of inaction sums it up for me.

JaneBond0007 · 11/03/2020 16:50

I wonder if government knew it was being declared a pandemic hence the statement later tonight? Now it’s been declared a pandemic they think people will be more accepting of restrictions?

bobbbbby · 11/03/2020 16:51

as WHO have officially declared a pandemic, does that trigger anything?

NatoPMT · 11/03/2020 16:51

@MoonlightMistletoe very sad news about another death

I started watching the WHO link then closed it. Making me anxious

Duckyneedsaclean · 11/03/2020 16:53

@JaneBond0007 where have you seen info about an announcement tonight? Any idea on time?

WwwashYourHands · 11/03/2020 16:53

Tesco here in Greater London has no loo roll, no pasta, no hand sanitiser. DC are very impressed that we have all this stuff already. “Mum, you weren’t panic buying, you were sensible buying!”

I wish the rumours about lockdown were true!

MoonlightMistletoe · 11/03/2020 16:54

@MakeLemonade certainly feels like it.

NatoPMT · 11/03/2020 16:54

Don’t have time to properly google but it defo does Bobby

Here’s the .gov pandemic page, not sure how different it is to current protocol as I can’t read it right now, also named “flu”

www.gov.uk/guidance/pandemic-flu

HasaDigaEebowai · 11/03/2020 16:55

Been into Lidl today (although in general now we are trying to stay away). As well as people complaining very loudly at the till about the complete lack of toilet roll there was someone offering to sell his own supply of handgel at 20 times the normal price!

Sprayitall · 11/03/2020 16:58

@preponderings I agree it’s a little ott on my side but I am thinking of some ideas to keep it clean. I think I might try @MoonlightMistletoe but is that anti viral?

Sprayitall · 11/03/2020 16:59

@JaneBond0007 what rumours? Can you please elaborate on that..sorry I missed it if you had done it already

Oxyiz · 11/03/2020 17:00

https://apnews.com/fe0239e95b8ad1037639ed833b990e48 anyone know how reliable this is? Coronovirus lingers in air for 3 hrs, on cardboard for 24 hours, on plastic for 3 days.

MoonlightMistletoe · 11/03/2020 17:00

@Sprayitall I can't find anything that's antiviral for hair however tea tree has antiviral properties in it so would be better than nothing I'd say.

JaneBond0007 · 11/03/2020 17:00

People have been discussing it on the other Coronavirus thread - worried about Coronavirus.
I’ll try and find the post
