Thread 12!

I can't seem to carry over the clicky links in the OP of the last thread. Can anyone else?

I’ve just seen that wales have been given the power to decide when to close schools etc, so I wonder if that means wales might initiate some sort of lockdown scenario before England? I generally feel like I trust the welsh government but I don’t know if that’s just because no one is as bad as Boris?

Readyme · 08/03/2020 23:24

@NatoPMT I had the same reaction to a mooncup too, I have a dodgy cervix it was just a bit too scary.

I did use resuable nappies with DC, my only concern for those interested it can be a faff finding a brand/style that works with your DC.
I loved our cheeky wipes so much so I think I will order a batch for face washing etc.

They do family reusable wipes however I draw the line at washing my DH poo wipes. Grin

Readyme · 08/03/2020 23:26

@AlohaMolly that's interesting I wonder if other parts of the UK close down school of it will put pressure on other parts to follow suite.

RageAgainst84 · 08/03/2020 23:30

I second the Mooncup, bloody brilliant (ha ha). Took a few times to get the gang of and had to cut the stem off but I love it.

@Posharmchairs I had a brainwave and have ordered some breast milk storage bags to freeze eggs in! 😃 They arrive tomorrow, will report progress

MotherOfDragonite · 08/03/2020 23:50

Thank you for the new thread! They are so fast-moving these days that I've missed a bit...

I think I have got most things we need, but keeping an eye on here in case there's anything I have forgotten. Also, I find this thread a welcome relief from the general panic/scoffing on the coronavirus board.

Legoandloldolls · 08/03/2020 23:56

The Mooncup is awesome! Look.up how to insert it by folding it into a C shape. Push and twist! Then once you master it you cut the pulley thing down to about 1cm. Bear down to remove. I rinse mine under a tap each time I use it. If I'm at home I tip the contents down the sink too as the blood takes two flushes to clear. If your in public loo, wash your hands first and then use hand gel in the loo ( ironically) the clean your hands again then put a bit of bog roll ( ironically) into the loo and tip it out onto the loo roll so it flushes away in one flush. I sterile it at the beginning and end of my period in 1/4 of a Milton tablet in a cup.of water. You need a few cycles to master it.

Legoandloldolls · 08/03/2020 23:58

I'm just going to throw the Tenna pads suggestion out there again for anyone who doesn't think their pelvic floor can take a month of coughing.

When I catch it, I might order in a comrade chair to watch TV from 😁 I'm ok with a cough for a week, but any longer than that, it isn't pretty

planningaheadtoday · 09/03/2020 00:08

@NatoPMT @SingingBabooshkaBadly

I've ordered some of the hand sanitiser earlier, now reading your messages I'm thinking oh no.

But I always pay using PayPal wherever possible as you can get a full refund through them if things fail to arrive. This company accepted PayPal thankfully.

I'm hoping it just arrived and I don't have to open a did not arrive case.

torthecatlady · 09/03/2020 00:16

I have missed so many of these threads Blush

I had a quick look through our pantry earlier and although it's relatively well stocked, it could be better. I'm kind of kicking myself that I let my brexit stash run down as much as it has. I need to do a proper stock check.

I did my normal order of cat food from pets at home earlier and noticed that a lot of products were out of stock.

MoreCoffeeNeeded · 09/03/2020 00:18

Has anyone else found that they barely go to the other parts of MN anymore? Just refresh this thread? Or is that just me? Blush

AlohaMolly · 09/03/2020 00:20

Nope, me too!

BlackeyedSusan · 09/03/2020 00:50

And me.

I get nervous before the figures are released too. Not every day, thankfully.

Tomorrow I think about 60 again. Then maybe lower on Tuesday and higher again on Wednesday. Probably 500 by Wednesday and over 1000 by Saturday.

Spoke to my mum and she is fairly calm about it.

Tropicalsquirrel · 09/03/2020 02:40

I’ve stopped looking at the rest of MN and just lurk here now. Particularly enjoying the gardening tips. I’ve never been green fingered but wouldn’t mind starting. Anyone have any tips for growing veg in the tropics?

ofwarren · 09/03/2020 05:28

THE KITTENS ARE COMING!!
One is out but I can't get a decent photo

AmelieTaylor · 09/03/2020 05:48

@ofwarren. Oh that’s a lovely start to the week! Tell 🐱to get used to it as we’re going to need lots of photos regularly!! Are you planning on keeping any of the kittens? Do you have any homes sorted for any of them?!

@ofwarren

Great start to the day - how many are you expecting her to have?

TipseyTorvey · 09/03/2020 05:55

Yay for kittens ofwarren. Can't wait to see pics. What a lovely start to our week!

ofwarren · 09/03/2020 05:57

She did so well 😍

Beautiful

MyHipsDontLieUnfortunately · 09/03/2020 06:04

@MoreCoffeeNeeded me too! I NCd so now my history looks as if I'm just obsessed with CV and prepping (I suppose I am at the moment, it's very distracting).

Morning preppers!

One thing I'm especially grateful for is the 'training' I've received on the prepper threads around medicines. (Esp on the Brexit prepping threads.)

I need quite a few medicines for various autoimmune conditions, and I'm allergic to a common ingredient in lots of brands, and there have been manufacturers' shortages, so getting in the habit of staying a step or two ahead has been incredibly useful - including learning about online pharmacies, getting to know a local pharmacy assistant, reading up, and ordering ahead.

Shortages update: Naproxen now seems to be back in stock ok. Still issues with lots of HRT patches.
