For the pregnant ladies. Look up mindfulness. Go out for walks in the fresh air, keep thinking about that 1%.
Stress and blood pressure is to be avoided and it's really really important to not stress in pregnancy.
I have had pre eclampsia, now that's fun unless you like bed rest and admissions to anti natal wards ( was fine the first three/ four days but I was planning a tunnel by day 6 of unforced bed rest on the ward).
You will be ok. You might get a bit I'll, but you will be ok and by the time baby comes this could well be well and truly decreased in cases

Keep reminding yourselves- this is why we prep. We have prepared for this. This is what we have prepared for. We are prepared.

Sunshine it was a visitor. He tested positive shortly after spending some time at the Vodafone HQ. It worried me too because I live right by that end of town - - I dont care about being outed-- and the bus stop a lot of staff use stops almost by my street. Hopefully it's doesn't spread too bad locally as I'm a family of asthmatics.

rhij86 · 04/03/2020 14:48

@legoandloldolls thanks for the hand hold. I did mindfulness with my last one (chronic anxious person here) - will dig out the podcasts etc.

Lhia29 · 04/03/2020 14:50

www.getreading.co.uk/news/business/berkshire-coronavirus-vodafone-staff-newbury-17847452 - that was the only online thing I could fine but I heard it on the local radio initially

Lhia29 · 04/03/2020 14:50

(sorry about my spelling. It's raining and I'm typing outside Hmm)

Lhia29 · 04/03/2020 14:52

What surprised me was that one minute it's an abstract thing happening the other side of the world then bam, it's on your doorstep.

pemberlyshades · 04/03/2020 14:52

People replying to the social care twitter feed are saying they will be pulling their children from school now...

NatoPMT · 04/03/2020 14:54

Rhij- read that link I posted above, might help ❤️

Burnt - I was 40 when I had my only daughter, I hear you. SARS was a much more dangerous virus than this one - this is more successful though but plan for this one, not worry for that one 😊

Plan what you need. Max figure for shutting down seems to be 12 weeks officially but many have prepped for 2-4 weeks.

My daughter is fussy as hell so I’ve planned around what she will eat. I’m fussy too 🤦‍♀️

Lay in self isolation associated with haslemere case

NatoPMT · 04/03/2020 14:56

Pemberley do you have a link please?

How is everyone feeling about pulling children from school now? I was going to wait until local confirmed cases.... in London that’s just arbitrary. And my friend might be the first official local case tomorrow (that I know of)

@Neome I have a lovely family member with a serious health condition admit she only had one small bottle of hand gel. I think for some it's easier just to shrug it off of you are in a high risk group.
I will be sending him our largest bottle of hand gel over the weekend because I want a clear conscious knowing I have some spare.

I gave my parents a load of masks, both in high risk jobs, only to find they have most of them to their friends because they are traveling to Italy next month. Hmm

MissusMaker · 04/03/2020 14:57

In light of the increase in cases plus the lack of clarity over location I've decided to cut down on unnecessary trips out of the house from today. As a SAHM with children in school I have plenty of free time and am in the habit of going to the supermarket every couple of days. I will be switching to deliveries from here on. I'm not quite ready to pull the kids from school yet but I am going to have a quiet word with two teachers who I know will be sympathetic and ask for a heads-up of any suspected cases. We will avoid crowded places at the weekend too.

Yummymummy2020 · 04/03/2020 14:57

@NewYearNewTwatName the WHO website has recipes for making your own hand sanitiser on it, might be worth a look!

Legoandloldolls · 04/03/2020 14:57

From memory pregnancy woman with bird flu ( swine flu? SARS? I cant remember but I was pg at the time so recently) had they systems overwhelmed by infection and the body over reacting to fighting it off. From what's been said here, they arent seeing that with covid.

It's hard if you have a toddler but do close your eyes and try to download a free mindful app. Even after five minutes it clears my mind. Dont check the news more than twice a day. Avoid news after 6pm.
Enjoy your own little bubble for as much as you can. Some weeks and months I ignore the news totally. Its refreshing. The things you can control then focus on that. The rest- don't think about it. I bleached my kitchen bin today which I never do. Will it stop covid? Nope. Do I feel a bit better for it? Yes! It's a positive that covid has made me 1% less of a slattern 🤣

@natopmt thanks for the link

NatoPMT · 04/03/2020 14:59

I’m finding people in high risk / vulnerable or financially difficult situations are denying because it’s their way to cope. Every denyer I’m finding has a reason to fear this and it’s a way of dealing with the overwhelming

Denial is a very effective coping mechanism

Puppycorn · 04/03/2020 14:59

@twins2019 if you haven’t thought of this already please stock dried fruits too so you can free up some space in the freezer. Found out costco has a good selection of them for mango, cherries, berries etc. For fresh herbs and seasonings - an idea is to try pickling and preserving them indian chutney style. Just my 2 cents.

pemberlyshades · 04/03/2020 14:59

@NatoPMT it's from the comments on the department of health and social cares daily update- twitter.com/dhscgovuk/status/1235207174407802880?s=21

NatoPMT · 04/03/2020 15:00

Dried apricots are amazing!!

Tinnednut · 04/03/2020 15:01

@NatoPMT my DD is fussy too alongside food allergies it has made storing food challenging. DH is fussy too but will happily eat tinned soup. I suspect I will be the one eating random creative meals.

Lhia29... Hello Fellow Townie Grin Yep i heard it was a visitor to the site and that some staff self isolated.

The problem with a company that size is how quick it could spread , especially on the vodafone transport buses ect and local shops etc.

I think it is disgusting that they are not planning on announcing daily where these cases have cropped up, it is taking people's choices away on how they wish to handle the health and safety of their own family
