New thread - happy Monday!

Just incase you are wondering this is a thread for premmie mums who feel like they have missed out on the NCT classes experience and would like to chat.

I have missed out twice as has had two premies!
One of which seems to be wide awake at 4am - I have just fallen over a toy trying to get to her and am now cuddling her praying she'll drop off fast!
How's everyone?

The health visitor came yesterday and brought a development questionnaire for a 9-month old. I explained that my son wasn't doing much on her list because he's more like the 7-month old he should have been and she said she hadn't checked if he was a prem before leaving the office and she'd have to post me the 7-month form and come back in a couple of weeks! What a waste of everyone's time Hmm

Moreover I'm now looking at the milestones and feeling a bit sad because I don't normally look at anything like that and thought he was getting on really well as he can pick up little things and is crawling backwards and pulling himself up. Now I've just been reminded that he's developmentally delayed instead of just taking him for what he is and being overjoyed by his health and progress.

This all sounds petty and silly compared with your troubles, and that just makes me feel worse Hmm

Valdeeves · 07/06/2014 00:15

Bank - I felt like that with my first preemie - very natural. My DD is still lagging and she's nearly two.
However what I can say is I know a few adults who were born at 27 and 28 weeks and they were both pretty sharp.
You just have to give it time.

How do you all cheer yourself up when you feel like this?

Hello. I've not had time in such a while due to one thing and another to catch up with the thread. I've just read back and I'm pleased to see Halo is home and doing well MMama.
You must be really fed up with chicken pox Val?
Bank Hol, don't be upset. Your LO has done so well. I know how you feel though and it's hard not to compare with friends at time.
XxxSmile

Valdeeves · 07/06/2014 16:36

Hi Fraggle, she's ok just really itchy!! I am - I think two more days and I can say goodbye to it forever as they are both done.

Valdeeves · 07/06/2014 16:36

The kids have found the oatmeal baths a novelty though

Valdeeves · 07/06/2014 16:37

Btw as this is technically a substitute NCT group I am a hosting a virtual BBQ here.
Hog dog anyone?
Glass of pimms?

OP posts:
MultipleMama · 07/06/2014 17:32

Anthing Vegetarian and non-alcoholic there?!

Hi, Fraggle!

Today we put an offer on the house we love, another couple is viewing it today but hopefully they dislike it! Grin

I find it hard not to compare especially against Artie. She's the same age and cruising the furniture whereas Halo is still learning to roll over effectively.

FraggleRock77 · 08/06/2014 08:12

If the BBQ is still burning, i would love a hot dog and a tall glass of gin!
Beautiful sunshine today Smile

Valdeeves · 08/06/2014 08:34

Of course Mama! Veggie kebabs with feta coming right up : )
Am adding a virtual paddling pool today.
Spots still contagious have barely left the house since Tuesday - cabin fever!!!!!
Enjoy the sunny weather ladies, hope it lasts xxxxxx

Weather is gorgeous today, in 20's :) PiL have decided to have a BBQ instead of a Sunday dinner so we're heading over in a couple of hours but right now DH and I are on a bike ride with the DC, but just stopped for refreshments :)

Bankholidaybaby · 09/06/2014 11:42

I had to work last night and left my son with my very capable mum. She says he wouldn't sleep - he screamed for about 30mins, which is very unusual, then suddenly stopped and got really hyper and desperate to play. They sat up until 11.30 playing and watching tv, then he slept until 8.30am! When he woke, he had two new teeth - do you think that would have been the reason for his activity and upset?

MultipleMama · 09/06/2014 17:57

It could be, bank. K & A teethed with no outward symptoms besides drooling, Dom got restless and constantly chewed things, Dee went on a complete nursing strike for a few days. So far Artie has one tooth through and had no problems. Halo got distressed, frustrated and wouldn't sleep (no teeth have yet to occur though!)

Had a lovely day with the sun shining. Halo had an asthma attack yesterday due to the smoke/smell of the BBQ so had to give him two lots of nebulizer and keep him in the house (he has BPD, asthma & perfume intolerance - nightmare as they bounce off each other!)

All went to be easy enough even Halo! :)

So a letter came through Halo's OHS is scheduled for 19th August at 7.45am but it's at the University hospital 50 minutes, on their new pediatric cardiac surgery & ICU ward.

Seen the pictures and site. Looks quite spiffy!

Valdeeves · 09/06/2014 22:42

Teeth can really make the little ones cranky - it could have been. My DD
Mmama wagts the latest with his PM?
Also did he regain movement he lost on his side?

OP posts:
MultipleMama · 10/06/2014 00:12

Hey, Val :)

His PM is working smoothly. No problems whatsoever, soon he'll be done to monthly check calls and every 2mo visits :)

He's gained a little more movement in his leg, he can kick and lift but weak, and not very high, he can lift his arm slighly but still has no grasp or able to bend wrist. But PT is helping a lot :)

Valdeeves · 12/06/2014 14:06

That's a little progress mmama?
Handing out a virtual tray of sangria ( non alcoholic for you)

OP posts:
MultipleMama · 12/06/2014 19:59

He's been having sensory issues since the PT started which is delaying his progress a little. So, we need to figure that out before increasing his PT. We're not do worried though.

Quite a lazy day here so I'll take that drink and lounge in my PJs!

DH is taking me to see Phantom of the Opera next week in Hamburg! A bonus from his boss for sorting some finances out. So excited! Unsure what do with the A-twins though...

How is everyone? X

Valdeeves · 13/06/2014 18:30

I love phantom have an amazing time.
I am so stressed I can't sleep - job interview Monday and going completely mental as holiday Thursday and passport lost in the crisis - have tried everything.

OP posts:
Valdeeves · 13/06/2014 18:30

Will have to cancel if it doesn't come. So down.

OP posts:
Mama1980 · 13/06/2014 18:43

Oh no val, Sad where are you going? I really hope it comes for you. Can you get fast track? Sure you've thought of that but....
Good luck in your interview, is it for a better position?

MultipleMama. Glad I didn't offend last post, sometimes I worry as I never have time to check properly Grin how is halo/Artie/everyone?
Musicals aren't really my thing (I prefer shakespeare with some decent blood and guts) but I have seen phantom and it was visually amazing.

MultipleMama · 13/06/2014 19:58

That's shit news Val, I really hope they come!! Fingers crossed with you!

Mama, I usually forget too but I 9/10 miss out words or type something that doesn't make one ounce of sense! I love musicals which I think stems from my mum's love of them! My dad however is a blood & guts man and a lover of all things horror much like DH (sometimes I wonder if I married a younger version of my dad... and then freak myself out with that thought) so I have my darker side too Grin.

The DC are doing well and are always keeping me on my toes! I'm okay, exhausted and worn out so booked myself into the doctors for 30th June per DH's request.

How are you & yours Mama? x

Valdeeves · 15/06/2014 02:25

Still no passport : (

OP posts:
MultipleMama · 15/06/2014 18:04

That sucks! Have you decided what you're going to do? X

Valdeeves · 16/06/2014 00:13

I keep phoning - I feel so stressed

OP posts:
MultipleMama · 16/06/2014 01:37

Are you able somehow to get to the passport office and wait to be seen like many others have been doing?

I can't believe the state the Gov has managed to get itself into. It was a ridiculous idea in the first place and now folks, like you Val, are being punished for it. They need to sort themselves out!

Valdeeves · 17/06/2014 22:28

Whole day at the passport office and I have a passport!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(Sound of Pharrell's happy)
