Hi

Just after moral support from anyone maybe going through the same. Just discovered I am pregnant, I have 2 children and we are just not in that place any more to be having any more babies. I am
absolutely gobsmacked that I am pregnant. Decided to have a medical abortion and just want it done asap. Soonest appointment from BPAS I could get is Friday. It seems like forever away and I am in complete limbo. I can’t think of anything else. I’m so upset that I have to do this!!!! Is anyone else in that waiting phase? I just want it to be over with!

so I’m about 3 hours in. The blood is nothing more than a period so far, I’ve got the shivers and my cramps are quite painful but nothing major. I think I’d worked myself up into thinking that it would be so much worse because this just feels like I’m on my period?

MC2603 · 21/01/2024 17:40

Hi guys,

bit of advice please. I took the pills and I passed a clot in the toilet that I thought was the pregnancy (I was only 2-3 weeks) and then I’ve been in pain since with cramps. When I go to the toilet I bleed and still are passing small clots but there isn’t much on the pad, is this normal?

Anon13571 · 21/01/2024 18:30

Sorry just seen this. My cramps got much worse after passing the larger clots which is different to the others here, and then bleeding slowed for an hour, then restarted. I think it all sounds normal :). Most of my blood passed on the toilet rather than in my pads. Just make sure you're keeping topped up with pain meds

Anon13571 · 21/01/2024 21:10

Hope you're feeling okay now @MC2603.
My cramps and bleeding has been intermittent throughout the day, all very manageable though

Namechangedecisions · 30/01/2024 16:12

How is everyone?
I've to take my pregnancy test tomorrow.
I have been bleeding since taking the pills and it had been consistently like a moderate period, starring to tail off now. I had a couple of hours of heavier bleeding (soaked through 2 pads) on day 5 and panicked a bit but it completely settled. Hoping for a negative test - has anyone else done theirs?

Anon13571 · 31/01/2024 21:05

How did your test go @Namechangedecisions, negtive i hope?

I had a lot of bleeding and cramps out of nowhere today (10 days post MA). It was a '2 maxi-pads in an hour' situation and things just didnt feel right. I had to come in for investigations, unfortunately the whole embryo is still there which is gutting. They offered me to do another MA tonight this time staying in the hospital due to my bleeding. So am 2 hours in and praying it works this time. Otherwise it will be a surgical for me. I hope everyone else is doing better 🙏 💕

Namechangedecisions · 31/01/2024 21:24

@Anon13571 oh nooo that is so gutting that it didn't work sorry to hear that. Are you staying overnight? Must be hard to believe after you passing clots etc. However, good that you got help quickly and getting sorted now. How many weeks were you if you don't mind me asking?

My test was negative although I stupidly didn't through it out after doing it at 4am and by the time I got up there was an evap line. But am confident it was negative at the time. Had your pregnancy symptoms gone after taking your tablets the first time round? My nausea and breast tenderness disappeared so hoping that's a good sign.

Anon13571 · 31/01/2024 21:40

Its a real bummer. Everything seemed to be going normally during what i thought was the termination and for the days after. Passing clots, lots of cramping but alas. And yes staying in overnight which I'm a bit relieved about especially as the nurses here are very nice.
Yes everything stopped after about 3 or 4 days. All nausea and tenderness so its strange, biology isn't straight forward I suppose.
Ah that's brilliant news, I think they say you can have very faint lines for a few weeks. Maybe just get another for peace of minds sake 🤞 but sounds like it's all gone as well as it could have :)

Chunk9 · 02/02/2024 06:35

How are you feeling now? How disappointing it wasn’t straight forward for you, I suppose everyone’s body is different. Hope you’re feeling ok x

Guys ! I’m absolutely terrified about my medical abortion next week, second guessing whether I should have chosen the surgical route , I would really appreciate any advice from people who’ve been through this. Especially worried as I do have other medical conditions though I’m not taking medication or anything

Chunk9 · 02/02/2024 15:37

my experience was absolutely fine. The pain was no more than period pains. The bleeding was manageable. It honestly wasn’t the horrendous experience I was expecting. Honestly you will be fine x stay positive.

Thank you I really appreciate it. I feel quite alone tbh because I can’t talk to family about and friends are in different cities. But I’ll take your advice and remember that. I think I always jump to worse case scenario

Namechangedecisions · 02/02/2024 20:11

@Chunk9 great news about negative test and that you're feeling good having it behind you. I feel the same. Only felt upset once when my friend sent me a scan pic to tell me she was pregnant - I wasn't regretting it or anything I guess I just felt sad at the potential I missed out on. But definitely feel glad to have it behind me and this month I am so skint with mortgage and childcare that I actually feel it would be reckless to think about having another one!

@Scared20something welcome to the group. I equally had a relatively pain free experience. Dunno if you've read through the whole thread but the worst part for me was nausea/vomiting after the first pill and the shivers after the second pill. I would also say I feel generally a bit drained due to having basically had a period for almost 3 weeks. I am feeling pretty happy that those are my only complaints and hopefully you find that reassuring.

Scared20something · 02/02/2024 22:46

Hi thank you so much for the response. I think the wait is what’s stressing me the most along with fear of the unknown. Your complaints do help me feel reassured, because at least I know people can have an ok / not too bad experience and that’s all that matters. Hoping mine will be relatively alright. Hearing non horror stories is really helping manage my fear

Scared20something · 08/02/2024 09:44

@Namechangedecisions got my proper appointment tomorrow where Ill likely get the pills. Had a bit of difficult week where I thought everything might get postponed because my GP wouldn’t share my medical history but that’s been sorted . Now everything’s sunk and I just feel anxious all the time and like crying. Not because I don’t want to do this, but because I just worry. I’m very lucky a friend has decided to stay with me the next two days. But yeah sending you well wishes. Illl probably be back on this thread tomorrow and Saturday 😂

Tashalady91 · 15/02/2024 18:45

Hey All, looking for some reassurance

I tested positive on the 8th Feb complete shock to system. As I had an operation on the 6th and had to do a test to ensure I wasn't pregnant and that came back negative the week before.

Anyway. Myself and my partner already had agreed that we wouldn't go ahead if I ever did fall pregnant as we have 4 children between us already. I also nearly died giving birth to my now 18m old. We both did. It was very traumatic for me.

To date I have contacted BPAS who said they don't cover my area referred me to MSI who then referred me to NUPAS. After two lengthy phone calls. I had been booked in for an appointment which was today.

I attended. When the midwife scanned me, she said nothing was showing at all and unfortunately couldn't give me the tablets which was never advised this would happen she was really nice and she discussed with the reasons why and I have to go back in 2 weeks. As part of their policy they have to confirm a gestational sac in the womb to give me the medication needed.

Based on my last period I'm estimated gestation of 4 weeks 6 days.

I feel so sick. I've had nausea for the last week and a bit of an upset tummy.

She mentioned during my appointment the possibility of ectopic but said nothing was showing in my tubes. But as I'm so early on this could be the reason she couldn't see anything.

I'm absolutely petrified.

I'm usually a positive person. But reading different threads and experiences I have this gut feeling its not all going to be straight forward.

My symptoms:

Lost of positive pregnancy tests
Slight back pain
dull tummy ache more to the rights side
nausea
upset tummy (diarrhea)

Has anyone had a similar experience? Is it possible it is ectopic?

Tia xx

MC2603 · 17/02/2024 18:38

Hi guys,

im just wondering how long it took for you guys to get your periods again. It’ll be 4 weeks on Sunday since I took the medication, when would I likely get a period again?

Namechangedecisions · 18/02/2024 10:07

Hi @MC2603 I also haven't had one yet (though was majorly craving chocolate for the last few days of bleeding so don't know of that was actually a period). I'm 4 weeks 4 days since second tablet.
I think you've to call up if no period within 6 weeks? X

Namechangedecisions · 18/02/2024 10:09

Just checked leaflet and it actually says one month. I'll be calling tomorrow!!

MC2603 · 18/02/2024 10:20

Oh gosh okay. Yeah I’ve been feeling like I’m coming on my period soon, so no idea what’s going on. @Namechangedecisions

Namechangedecisions · 19/02/2024 12:00

@MC2603 hope yours comes soon then. I did pregnancy tests last night and this morning and both negative, going to give it another week.
Will be good to fully move on once periods return won't it

@jklrck sorry to hear your story but it is entirely out of context of this thread and clearly you have put it here to try to convince other women not to go through with a termination after hearing our reassuring stories. It was a healthy and legitimate choice for the women on this thread.

jklrck · 22/02/2024 10:21

no i dont think its out of context as this is my story . im not trying to deter anyone i know for some people they feel relief after abortion im just trying to make sure no one feels what i felt after and thats because i wasnt sure on my decission and i dont want anyone to go through this pain if your sure than do whats best for you and your family and if your unsure than really take your time and consider your options . i dont know why you feel the need to attack me for my post im intitled to give my views . im glad for those whi everythink went well but unfortunantly its not always the case
