9 weeks tomorrow & starting to bleed :(

...yesterday about 8:30pm I went to the loo & there was a tiny bit of bright coloured blood - a bit like a cm of membrane. There was also a pinky discharge. The shock went right through me ( we were at a friends house), so I took rescue remedy & we came home. No more blood.

This am none at the first 2 morning pee's & now on the 3rd one, there is brownish things going on (not quite sure how to describe).

I've also got a sort of uncomfortable, but not painful, grinding, something-going-on feeling in my belly.

This is my 2nd pregnancy & I've never experienced this before, so really don't know what is happening/what to do.

Does anyone have any suggestions/ advice please ?

If you start to feel really unwell, temp goes up high or have really bad pains then obv. call your GP - otherwise it is one of those horrible wait it out scenarios
If it is any comfort, I bled with both of my DDs - brown and read, even a bit clotty with DD2. I also had rumbly nervous tummy feelings - but think that was all it was, just my mind and worry.
I think I am right in saying that very little you do now will affect the outcome other than eat sensibly, sleep, avoid lifting heavy things. Whatever you feel happiest - DH wanted me to go out and forget about it by going and doing something - I needed to stay at home and "batten the hatches" watching junk tv and tlaking to no-one. Whatever makes you feel most comfortable, relaxed and in control.

Good post from basketcase. I had a similar sort of bleeding with both pregnancies at about 10 weeks. It went away after about 3 days. I always assumed that brownish discharge was not much to worry about (old blood?), but I did have pinkish too which turned out to be nothing too. Unfortunately it really is just a wait and see situation, but I know how desperately worrying it is for that reason. Good luck.

Mojomummy, big hugs. I know how horrible this feels. With ds1 I bled at 4, 7, 8, 9 & 12 weeks in the way you describe. With ds2 I bled at 4, 8 & 9 the same, and then a continuous flow from 13 - 16 weeks. Inbetween I had a 9 week pregnancy with not one bit of bleeding, not once! So to me bleeding was a sign of a healthy pregnancy! However, that didn't make it any less stressful and horrible. It's terrible but true that things are completely out of your hands - there isn't really anything you can do physically. Psychologically you have a choice depending on what type of person you are: you could take it really easy and be very careful because you know that you will beat yourself up if anything does go wrong, or you can just carry on because you know that nothing you do will make any difference, and you would resent losing the time. Personally I go for the first option. I beat myself up over so many things that I thought I'd done to cause my mc, but it happened because of the particular egg and sperm!

This is so so common, if that helps. But everyone who goes through it feels every bit as awful as you do!

Do you have an Early pregnancy unit near you? If not pop along to A&E.
I have had 2 mc, first was no pain until bleeding had started and 2nd had no pain at all BUT i am also 20 weeks pregnant and have had bleeding in this pregnancy too which has all been 'normal'.
Pop to A7E who can check if your cervix is open and book you for an early scan. Hope this helps a little.

I'm just having a bit of a cry in fact it's a really big cry

I realise now the brownish stuff is like at the end of a period & the acheyness is similar to light period cramps.

Yes, you're right, just a case of waiting. Should I go to the docs tomorrow if it continues ? I have a midwife appointment on Wednesday, should I wait until then ?

Good to hear that your bleeding didn't lead to anything .....hopefully mine will be the same.....

Now you've started me off mojo - I know mine was not good before ds but I PROMISE you, lots of people are fine with the same symptoms. Everyone is different and if you can't cope you really should try and find out.

As I said, I really don't mind having dd if you need to get checked!! I know how you are feeling

Honestly the best thing you can do is go to bed/take your mind off it and just wait it out. If it is a m/c, then there is nothing you can do to stop it. If the bleeding gets heavier and more painful, I am afraid it does sound very much like you have m/carried.

I miscarried at 8 weeks a while ago now and my heart goes out to you.

In my email to you mojo I suggested bed rest but tbh, if you're really unable to rest I actually think it's better to get checked. There's nothing you can do, that is right, but if everything is ok and you get stressed waiting, this isn't good either.

It's just my opinion but I know my 1½ weeks of bed rest whilst spotting was awful as I couldn't stop worrying. It really depends on how well you are able to cope with waiting.

I would suggest that you get in for a scan as soon as you can to put your mind at rest. I do hope it is good news for you.

(((((((((((((())))))))))))))))))))mojomummy as others have said try and pop along to your early pregnancy unit. I had bleeding in first 2 pregnancies and had mc also had bleeding with ds for 2 weeks but hes a bouncy 22mth old. Bleeding does not necessarily meant the worst. Ifyou go along to EPU they should be able to check things out and also prob offer to do a scan to check for heartbeat. Good luck

((((hugs)))) I went through this last year and the waiting is the mostdifficult thing. See if you can get in at Early Pregnancy Assesment Unit tomorrow, many of them don't work weekends. Unfortunatly as other have posted if it's going to go wrong there is nothing you can do to prevent it. It is nothing you have done it is one of those things (not the best of terms to use but i can't think of another one to use). If it gets any worse go to A&E they will take a urine sample, possibly a blood sample and offer you an internal to see if your cervix is still closed. The odds of getting a scan at the weekend are very slim. They may even book you an appointment to EPAU where if you are most likley to be offered an internal scan (not very dignified but you will get an answer as to what is going on). I hope it is just an implantation bleed and send lots of positive thoughts your way. Goodluck.

Mojo's at the hospital now so I do hope it's not a wasted visit. I didn't realise they couldn't scan at the weekend and suggested she went as her dh is going away for a week tomorrow. I just remember how horrible the waiting was when I went through it.

Fingers crossed they manage to check her and give her some hope!

MM, I had two episodes of bleeding (three if you count implantation bleeding which I didn't realize at the time what it was and was terrified anyway) with ds. It's hard, but try to lie down, elevate your feet and stay calm. I was surprised that I was able to do this when it happened to me but I just knew that's what I had to do and willed myself into it.

We've been to the A&E, which was very busy.

We waited a while & had blood pressure, something in my ear ( what is that ?) & a clip on my finger which were all pronounced fine.

Also did a pregnancy test, which, after a slow start, became positive.

The waiting room was full of injured people, so we decided not to wait any longer as I have a scan booked for tomorrow at 10:30 am - I assume it's the early pregnancy unit.

Will be spending the rest of the day with feet up resting as you have all advised.

Thanks for all your support, it's really helped.
I just hope it's just one of those things & will be trying very hard to not be stressed.

mojomummy - i live near hellybelly so assume you liv in the same area too and got to the local hospital. the sscan will be in the normal ultrasound department, so be prepared for heavily pregnant women to be there too. i'm hope that all will be fine for you and sending you best wishes and good luck for tomorrow.

(as a student midwife at that hospital, we have queried a few times as to why early preg (sonning ward) and day assessment don't have own scanning department, and basically comesd own to money essentially)

Just try and get through that. I wish I could be there with you but I'm childminding so can't. Just let me know if you need me to have dd again as it's really no trouble. Whatever is best for you!
