Sleeping working from home . I am shattered too!

anythingwithagiraffeonit · 22/07/2010 19:34

Hi all..

I'm not going to be getting a hospital tour because of swine flu apparantly, has anyone else had this problem? I don't suppose i'm missing out on that much really... just quite liked the idea of seeing it all before hand and getting excited (NERVOUS! :p)

Also, I'm just not prepared to pay 250 for NCT classes... aren't there classes on the NHS? Is anyone taking them? I might be too late.

Hope everyones well! I've spent the day washing out every cupboard and drawer in my kitchen and organizing everything and throwing loads away.. probably a bit soon for nesting at 28 weeks.. must be boredom!

xx

Hevster · 22/07/2010 20:14

blimey anything want to come round mine and make a start, I am so knackered all I have achieved is cleaning the kitchen floor today!

RooBear · 23/07/2010 10:17

morning, anything thats just showing off! I'm not going to atempt cleaning out the kitchen cupboards unitl its finshed. We still need to paint, put up splashback and install a new chimmney hood/fan. Anyone got any experience of this? is it easy? I haven't found out about classes yet, hope the mw mentions them on my 28wk appt.

babybunting2010 · 23/07/2010 10:29

Hi All,

Anything... My list of stuff to do is sooo long, unfortunately doing nothing seems much more appealling, am hoping I will have a burst of nesting when on Mat leave. Only 7 weeks of work left now! I can't wait!!!

With regards to causes, I got letter through a few weeks ago from surestart don't know whether this is worcestershire county council specific though! So have an active birth class week after next, then an early days class and a breast feeding class. Have also booked in for the NCT course (Was about £180 which included a years membership!) But have been told they are worth every penny. We'll see!

I can't convince DH that I need a Tens Machine, he just keeps saying millions of women have done it without them!!! Can't really argue with that but also don't want to go behind his back and just order one. There is one on the Lloyds Pharmacy website that's £30 to buy! So was thinking it looked a pretty good offer!

RooBear · 23/07/2010 10:39

ooh lucky you bb I've still got 12 wks left at work

Jacksmybaby · 23/07/2010 15:33

BB is your DH for real re the tens machine?!!!!!! I say as soon as he is pregnant and has to face giving birth THEN he is entitled to an opinion on what pain relief is and isn't necessary!!!!

Saartjie · 25/07/2010 11:29

I fully agree with Jacks

YummyMummy1208 · 25/07/2010 21:03

babybunting omg! He can have his opinion but like jacks says, until its him about to give birth then what the hell say should he have in ur pain relief?! Just go buy one, no way should u not get onne just cos of his opinion! I wouldnt have gotten thru all the early stages of labour the same without mine, made things sooo much easier that i even have good memories of my first stages thanks to my TENS machine.
i have 10 weeks left at work altho it will b a sad week my last week as i wont actually b ever going back due to emigrating next year so im looking forward to it but not at the same time!
Been baby shopping again this weekend , and OH has finally painted baby's room (yay!!) and its perfect! now im itching to get the carpet in there, altho we cant decide wether to get a pink carpet to go with the paint - 1 wall is pink, the other 3 are lilac, or go with an almost white/cream coloured one to be safe of not over pinking the room! Any suggestions?? - the only reason i am entertaining a light coloured carpet by the way is that we are leaving when baby is 7 months and so she wont really have time to be crawling around making it dirty!

Regarding the parenting classes, my colleage whos 36 weeks now started hers really late - about 3 weeks ago on the NHS so im guessing at my 28wk checkup they will mention them then - il b asking about them if they dont as its nice to go along just to make sure u know everything u need to!

3rd trimester starts on Monday for me, yay! the final road to the other side, please go quickly!

Hevster · 25/07/2010 21:12

we did NCT last time and it was worth every penny, not so much for the info but because of the friends I made who I still see all the time now.

Hope you have all had a good weekend, DD1 and I spent most of it at Longleat which entertains and knackers her out with minimum effort from me! V fortunate to have it on our doorstep and get in cheap due to being local.

YM we have cream carpets that are now spotted with calpol stains from me seemingly throwing it at DD1 in the night without turning the light on!

Jacksmybaby · 26/07/2010 09:21

YM I'm also thinking - cream carpets? - middle of the night projectile yellow poo incidents? - could be bad! Personally I always think you can't go wrong with a neutral, sort of "digestive biscuit" coloured, carpet!

DillyDora · 26/07/2010 15:55

Hey all y'all, had temporarily lost you when I went on hols so glad to find you again.

That pain under your bump (in your fanjo bone?!) sounds like SPD, won't harm baby but there is physio you can do to help relieve it so worth asking mw or gp to refer you.

We've cancelled NCT in order to save the money and after some women in my yoga class had done it in my area and not liked it at all - going to the NHS ones instead (and having money for the buggy ;0) ) I'm meeting people through pg yoga and aqua natal which is nice.

Re TENS - babybunting i think you can rent them from Boots - check online and you tell your DH that my friend whose an obstetrician (and a man, so he must be right, right ....) said they're invaluable so THERE!

babybunting2010 · 26/07/2010 17:50

Hi All,

Will send DH onto this site to see what happens if he still says I'm not allowed one! Bless him, I don't think he meant it badly I think he just believes that it won't make any difference!

Here's a funny story for you all, by boss asked to have a chat with me earlier, went into the room thinking oh no here it goes again, anyway he started off saying how I looked like I wasn't comfortable during the day, which is fair enough, I start to slouch because if I sit up right it really makes the baby wriggle round, so I am a little cautious of the fact that she must be uncomfortable! Anyway, he said that he thought that I could do with a chair that was better for my posture, was thinking bloody hell he's going to let the company buy me a proper chair! Then he said... as a gesture of goodwill, I could stop back from work to look on the internet so the I could buy my own chair! Just thought that was such a typical thing of him to do made me chuckle! To be fair have just realised how boring this story must be to everyone else!

DillyDora · 26/07/2010 19:52

lol babybunting I didn't think it was boring - very funny in fact...what a prince, eh?

Yes, send DH to us, loads of women on here have said how helpful they found TENS machines...

Hevster · 27/07/2010 05:03

Morning ladies, spent half the night thinking of names. I want (yes I, not we as DH chose DD1's name!) something traditional but not common and have come up with loads that are "ok" but I don't love em - what do you all think of Beatrice (shortened to Bea) and does it go with Daisy (DD1)? you can be honest and I won't be offended!

Ta

Jacksmybaby · 27/07/2010 07:21

Having same problem as you re names Hevster nothing that we really love, few names that are ok. TBH Beatrice would not be my first choice for a name, to me it sounds a little severe and formal, opposite of Daisy actually (which I like but DH would think is "not a proper name"!). But that's just my personal opinion!

Our current list of "ok" names consists of:
Lucy
Amy (on my list not really on DH's!)
Poppy (ditto)
Issy (Isabelle/a)
Ellie (Eleanor)
Tilly (Matilda)

Saartjie · 27/07/2010 08:49

Hevster and Jacks I find chosing a name really difficult. The more I think about it the more I realise what a huge responsibility it is. Whatever name I (we) chose for our daughter she is going to live with for the rest of her life. So my conclusion is that a lot of thought needs to go into this. Me and DH are divided in that I like really traditional names such as Victoria, Elizabeth and Mary (I can see the queen theme there) and he likes really (IMO) weird names. Also the fact that we come from different countries and speak different languages does not help when chosing a name as the pronounciation of a name can sound totally different in our respective languages.

Hevster I like Beatrice but I don't like when it is shortened to Bea.

Jacks I love Matilda. It was on my list but DH doesn't like it, he says it makes him think of Waltzing Matilda (??) not sure what's wrong with that. I think it is a lovely name.

RooBear · 27/07/2010 10:17

I love all your names, we've chosen Kieron William for a boy and Eleanor Rose for a girl.

Saartjie · 27/07/2010 10:29

RooBear those are lovely names. I especially love Kieron.

anythingwithagiraffeonit · 27/07/2010 10:33

Hey Jacksmybaby... we're calling our DD Matilda (Tilly!) :p

Matilda Daisy actually...

And Beatrice is lovely, really sweet

KFW · 27/07/2010 11:00

Hi all

I am back after just over 2 weeks away. I had 11 days out of the office and am struggling today. What do i do again?!

My (now brown!) bump seems to have expanded hugely. I weighed myself yesterday, saartjie, and I think I have put on over 10 kg now so we are pretty similar in terms of growth!

Nothing much else to report, but I do seem to be getting heartburn. Not very nice at all. Although, hevster I dont know how you are coping with one sandwich. You poor thing. I musn't complain!

I hope everyone is OK - I am sorry for the things I missed in the posts; I didn't read them all.

hugs

Saartjie · 27/07/2010 12:19

Welcome back KFW. Glad to hear that you had a lovely holiday. Where did you go?
Happy to hear that I am not the only one putting on the kgs! It's all for a good cause!

Jacksmybaby · 27/07/2010 12:40

Hey again all. Very excited this p.m., have been for growth scan which was amazing (brilliant close-ups of her face, yawning, sticking her tongue out and even opening her eyes... cute!!!)... also had it confirmed she is definitely a girl... also was given a date for my ELCS: 6th Oct!!!! How exciting / scary?!!!!!!!

Daynee · 27/07/2010 12:47

Hi ladies! Good to hear everyone is well.

I'm back to work (ugh) until Oct. 1st, and then I'm off for 3 months ...just wish October could come a little sooner!!!

I just ate 4 granola bars for breakfast

Jacksmybaby · 27/07/2010 13:01

Hey Daynee was just thinking the other day I hadn't "seen" you on here for a while. Good to hear from you. Aren't you off for the summer (I thought you were a teacher but could have got that wrong)?
