we are going down the reuseable route this time but prob not for the 1st month. I used disposeables last time but added up the cost of them over the nearly 3 years that DD1 was in them and taking into account I bought them on offer etc, we spent well over a grand and we can't afford to do that again. For those of you looking into it, don't forget lots of councils have incentive schemes where you can get money back on the purchase price.

When does the third trimester 'officially' start? I keep seeing different weeks - some say 25 weeks, some 26? Does anyone know for definate?

anythingwithagiraffeonit · 14/07/2010 09:58

My pregnancy app says 27 weeks.. x

YummyMummy1208 · 14/07/2010 10:41

thats a whole week and a half away.

who has the official say on this?! if all books/websites are stating different points in pregnancy for different trimesters how will we know?

i dont want to admit it but the 20's weeks seem to be going on forever. cant believe im not even at the point where im able to start maternity leave (29wks) yet! even tho i have 11 weeks left after this week. nice to know i can give in if i wanted to once im past 29 weeks!

Jacksmybaby · 14/07/2010 11:06

In my mind it's 26 weeks, on the basis that that's exactly 6 months (52 weeks in a year, half of which = 26). On the other hand, it would be 27 if you think of it as being 3 months from the end of pg (40wks - 13wks (quarter of 52) = 27). So who knows!

I suppose the fact is that 40wks is just an average anyway and anything from 37-42 is considered normal so I don't think they can really be exact about this kind of thing.

Hope all well and having a good week. x

RooBear · 14/07/2010 13:24

hello everyone, we are going down the resuable route too, going to check out babies'r'us in august. I'm definately strugging with tiredness at work now babybunting it doesn't help we are soooo quiet now, and its going to be mentally busy when I return next year! not sure I've planned this well.

YummyMummy1208 · 14/07/2010 13:47

I so cant concentrate at work this week. Have plenty of things to do but just cant get my head in a state of concentration to be able to do them! - as it involves programming important databases i cant really work on them if my heads not together!

is anyone starting parenting classes anytime soon?

YummyMummy1208 · 14/07/2010 13:48

p.s, thats some good theories there Jacksmybaby never thought of both of those, think i prefer the 26 week option mind as it means im in trimester 3 on monday. so lets go with that one!

PatsyIsPreggers · 14/07/2010 16:28

Hi all Not posted for a v long time due to many reasons. Busy at work, decorating house, hols etc, but been trying to vaguely keep up with you all on here.

Glad to hear you are mostly keeping well, and excited to be in / very close to the 3rd trimester. Don't know about all of you, but the middle part has dragged for me as not much has happened. Only 1 MW appointment and the 20 week scan and apart from that I've been left to my own devices to slowly expand!

Yummy I've not been able to concentrate today either, except on the fact that I'm going pram shopping after work tonight! Feeling completely unprepared, as haven't bought anything baby related at all yet, or started decorating the nursery yet. We've had too much other decorating to do to contemplate it. So will be nice if we can get the pram sorted and at least tick one thing off the list.

Also looking forward to Christmas like the rest of you. Both sets of our parents live close to us and they've been practically fighting over who gets to cook for us this year, which is nice! We think we'll at least spend the morning at home though,as it will be our first Christmas in our new house, which I'm also v excited about!

So after not posting for months, I've now done a mammoth one to bore you all to tears!

MummyBeth · 14/07/2010 18:24

Hi ladies

Once again I have to thank you all for keeping me sane - or at least reminding me that I'm not the only mad one

I had a really bizarre thought today and I'm sorry if it's TMI and all but here goes...

I was thinking about how up to this point my boobs have been a 'sexy' thing for me however, I am mad keen to breast feed and was wondering if I might feel differently about them afterwards - DH 'enjoys' them too and I can't stop thinking that we might have a different view on things after I have used them in a non-sexy way

Anyone have any experience / thoughts to increase or reduce my humiliation?

i can only discus it on here cause none of you can see me - might bring it up with the breastfeeding nurse at my workshop.

xxx

Hevster · 14/07/2010 20:21

MummyB sorry didn't breastfeed DD1 so am no help to you whatsoever.

Saartjie · 14/07/2010 21:09

Oh MummyBeth I feel exactly like you regarding my boobs. Before I got pregnant I said I would never breast feed, the thought of it almost freaked me out a bit. Since I got pregnant I have changed my mind after reading several books about breast feeding. Still I have the same 'concern' as you about my boobs. They have been used for one thing up until now and I am scared that after breast feeding they will sort of lose their appeal. I have no idea if that is the case as I haven't done this before so would also be interested to hear other's view on this.

TizzyNo1 · 15/07/2010 09:26

Hello all, haven't been on for a while - again! Nice to hear excitement building! We went to our first antenatal class last night - how frickin scary was that?!! Much hilarity from husband during discussions about eating the placenta and performing perineal massage! Good though, can't wait for NCT classes to start next week. The midwives were really pushing home births - is anyone planing one? Also like the sound of a water birth - if the pool's available and I do go to hospital. Soooo many decisions to make - doing my tiny brain in! x

DillyDora · 15/07/2010 09:44

Hi All, just a quick one from hols in Germany. Glad everyone is mostly ok.

Sorry about the boob thing mummybeth I'm not worried about it, I don't know why, but having said that my boobs have looked great all pg but not felt great - they either hurt or haven't much sensation at all so maybe that's why? I think it's pretty common to have conflicting feelings about them...hope you find a way to get ok with it.

babybunting2010 · 15/07/2010 10:21

Morning all,

Mummybeth, I'll be honest, I have never particularly found my boobs sexy! Just a bit of an inconvenience, so don't think it will change that much for me! Poor Hubby!

I am getting more and more exhausted and am starting to really struggle, couldn't even get myself out of bed this morning, if I hadn't needed to pee really badly I doubt I would ever have got out! Is anyone shortening their hours? I do 8-6 pretty much every day so am trying to work out how I could shorten them!

Tizzy, my DH has a wicked sense of humour so I am imagining something rather hilarious for our classes. Have also booked in for the NCT Classes so looking forward to those as well. Haven't booked in for the Antenatal classes till August as work getting a bit funny about amount of time off and things!

I am having to be really restrained as think I have bought everything for the baby now and keep wanting to buy extra things but have to stop myself. Have even stocked up on bottles and formula incase I can't get the hang of Breast Feeding and loads of nappies as well as reusables!

YummyMummy1208 · 15/07/2010 10:28

Morning ladies, how are we all today?

Its Thursday, which is kind of a good thing as Friday is close which means the weekend is near! Altho i woke up very hormonal thisorning and my OH did get quite an ear bashing just for losing the controls when i needed them now! bless him. he dealt with it well by laughing it off and saying im just hormonal - which i totally denied at that point in time!

Im finding it so difficult to just move around these days, i seem to have a pain on the patch just under my bump everytime i walk now which is so annoying wen im late for work and need to move fast!

tbh, this sounds depressing but my OH isnt a 'boob man' anyhow, hes a leg man and so i dont really see my boobs as being a sexual thing for him in the first place. suppose thats a good thing really as i dont have to worry about his thoughts changing after seeing me breast feed, if anything last time round cos my boobs were out so much he actually paid more attention to them than usual so it had a positive affect for us!

YummyMummy1208 · 15/07/2010 10:32

P.s, if any of you want a 2 months free card for Lovefilm then let me know as i have 2 just sat at my desk at work and feel bad no one is using them!
Its for the higher package, 3 DVD's at a time, unlimited rentals per month including games.
Please somebody use them!

MummyBeth · 15/07/2010 12:38

Thanks for the input ladies - At least I don't feel like a total freak for thinking about it now. I'm pretty sure DH will stillove them - I'm just not so sure I'll feel the same way about them. My mum breastfed all 4 of us so I'm hoping to use her as a font of knowledge and follow her advice - my cousin is also a breastfeeding nurse so I have a good contact if I'm struggling - we'll see! I think every new mum has their own thing that they really want to do / try etc. and it'll be something different for everyone. I guess breastfeeding will be my thing.

I've not been too tired recently to be honest this week I've had loads of energy - but I can't wait to go part time (in 4 weeks) and then off completly (in 6 weeks)! No time at all really.

I am however really struggling with my lower back. I'm ok if I keep moving but at night time I wake every 2 hours and have to change position which is agony!

I just keep telling myself it's all worth it and it's good training for when the little one arrives!

babybunting2010 · 15/07/2010 15:35

YummyMummy and Mummybeth, Am so pleased you've both said what you've said, I have a horrid pain just under my bump and it was starting to worry me a bit and my lower back kills, plus sleeping seems to be getting more and more difficult! Oh the joys?!?!?

Does it affect your maternity pay if you cut down your hours at all? I go on mat leave in 8 weeks and have saved up enough holiday to be able to drop down from 45 hours a week to 40 hours a week from the week after next but I am not entirely convinced that 40 hours is still not going to kill me!

Oh well. I have a long weekend this weekend finish today and not back in till Tuesday! Can't wait! Only 2 more hours till I can go home!

xxx

YummyMummy1208 · 15/07/2010 16:04

god i wish i had more holiday days! ive used them up already! saved 5 to have a week extra full pay before official maternity pay starts and now have half a day to use. its not hard work being at work as im at my office chair most of the day but its just tedious and my mind is now focused on baby and i cant think properly at work as my brain isnt fully in it no more. once i leave in 11 weeks i wont be going back to work (due to emigrating) and so my subconcious has secretly turned my working drive off!
My friend at work just felt baby kick, she was so excited bless her. shes come alive again this afternoon, she seems to have a day or so where she only kicks inwards and then shes off playing football for a day or 2. it hasnt disturbed me so far - like sleep wise, if anything i enjoy going to bed to feel her kicking! altho its slightly becoming awkward to turn over in bed nowadays and i permanently have my pillow wedged under my bump when lying on my side to sleep!
dress went well at the wedding this weekend, i enjoyed listening to my lovely friends telling me how neat my bump was which totally made me forget about my brutally honest boss saying id put it on quite quick last week!
anyone else had the wedding outfit dilemma whilst being pregnant yet?

Hevster · 15/07/2010 17:07

had my sister's wedding last weekend and just got a tunic top and white linen trousers from next for £50 all in and then wore a totally lush hat that took everyones eye's off the rest of me - worked a treat and got way more compliments than normal!

Back to docs tomorrow (for my fortnightly visit), really want to try and go back to work but have my doubts that she will let me as been quite rough again this week. Still looking on the bright side am 2 stone lighter than I was at this stage of pregnancy with DD1!

roll on the weekend....

Jacksmybaby · 15/07/2010 18:32

Hevster sorry you are still feeling so rough.

Re wedding outfits, I was v pleased with the success of my maxi dress at the w/e, lots of compliments and DH actually said it was the nicest he'd ever seen me look at a wedding (although hopefully that didn't include our wedding!!).

I started going to an aqua-natal class a couple of weeks ago, anyone else doing one?

Hevster · 15/07/2010 19:36

Jacks looked into the aqua natal but they are all 7pm here which is Daisy's bedtime so sadly not partaking - are they any good? and glad the maxi dress was a success.
How was the gay wedding experience?

Jacksmybaby · 15/07/2010 20:57

Aqua-natal is v. good, quite hard work (although sadly I think that's because I am horribly unfit after months of hibernation!). 6.45 p.m. here, but luckily DH has been managing to escape from work in time to take over the bed-time routine on a Tuesday.

Gay wedding was AWESOME. Very, very fun (even sober, which is saying something!) but also incredibly moving. They wrote their own vows which had me (and all the girls) sobbing our eyes out!

Hevster · 15/07/2010 21:14

oh bless, sounds really good have not been to a gay wedding myself but my sisters on sat was my first sober wedding, was quite handy to be able to get in the car at midnight and drive home but handy enough for me to want to go to another wedding sober!
