I found out today I'm pregnant and the due date calculator on here says 14 Jan. This is my first, at 39, which is quite daunting. Looking forward to making the journey (hopefully all the way...) with you.

MamaPower · 11/05/2010 15:36

Hi all, I found out I was pregnant on Friday with my first! Before40 I also did the due date calculator and my date is 14 Jan too! I guess we'll know if that's right after our dating scans! Today has been the first day in 5 that I am feeling less of the accute cramps, I'm told these are implantation! I hope it's now nesstled nicely in for our journey together and our journey with you!

Pippaandpolly · 11/05/2010 15:53

I got my BFP this morning, shortly after convincing myself this wasn't the month for us Not sure of due date but will be early Jan some time (irregular periods, yey). Got an appointment with the GP this afternoon as I have no idea where to go with this information apart from to run around with my DH laughing like loons!

ljg72 · 11/05/2010 16:41

Congrats Ladies!!! I think I should be due around the 15th! so we are all very close together!...fingers crossed for everybody! .

deedee321 · 11/05/2010 16:42

Axis that is fantastic news, you must be feeling so relieved!! And is early to find a heartbeat, so must be a strong one
Congratulations to all the people just joining this thread, there is no better feeling than first getting a positive test!

Before40 · 11/05/2010 16:56

@MamaPower Don't know if it is your first or not, but the cramps really threw me, was sure I was getting my period!

Still coming to terms with the hugeness of the news...

MamaPower · 11/05/2010 18:25

Yes, it's my first and am very very excited although a little apprehensive too! I wonder what awaits us next...I'm thinking it could be the feared morning sickness

MinnieMooo · 12/05/2010 14:56

Hello everyone. My due date is 2nd Jan. Had a MC in Jan at 12 weeks - would have been our first. Held back on joining for a couple of weeks because so paranoid this one wont make it either, and I didnt want to tempt fate, but everyone seems very supportive, and I need to tell someone!

VegasBride · 12/05/2010 20:23

Hello All found out two weeks ago and due date is new years day, that s the new years eve party out of the question, (touch wood). Delighted for all of the January mummies, Hope all goes well

misskattkins · 13/05/2010 09:36

Hello ladies, I'm new on here, newly pregnant and completely confused by all these calculations (Maths never was my strong point)...!

My last period started on Sun 28 March - if you start counting from this date, as I believe most people/healthcare professionals do, I was 6 weeks' pregnant on Sun 9 May (just gone) & am now in the 7th week of pregnancy.

However, I went to the doctor on Tuesday & he said that I am 5 weeks' pregnant - the NHS & BBC sites both agree with him, while some others agree with my maths!

I realise it's not going to end up being very important as once I've had a scan, the timeline & dates will all change....

The other intriguing thing is that with 'due date calculators', my due date changes from 31 Dec to 2 Jan, depending on whether I enter my cycle length - does cycle length also determine the length of your pregnancy?

Any help to clear up my confusion is very much appreciated!

Kat xx

Hello can I join too?, Im also on another thread for (older mums)im 40!!!
Im 6weeks at the moment due Jan 3 with baby number 4....., my eldest dd is 15.5, ds 12, and my angel dd is 9, I always wanted another but never really wanted such a huge age gap..but oh well!!
Slightly worried about all the horror stories of an older lady being pregnant and the risks ie Downs and mc, but hopefully mw visit will sort that out.
Feeling so tired, Im normaly such a night owl and now Im sound asleep by 10pm or earlier if I can get my way
feeling very queasy from the time I wake to the time I go to bed, still feeling some tightening lower right side mainly at night when im lyin flat is this normal?
love and wishes to all x

preggerz · 13/05/2010 15:32

Hi misskattkins.
My last period was 28th March too
I've been given an EDD of 2nd of January by my doctor. I'm now intrigued and off to check out those sites you mentioned. As far as I'm conderned, I am now 6 weeks and 4 days up the duff. I too am totally clueless about this pregnancy mullarkey so sorry I can't be more helpful. Congratulations by the way!!

emble · 13/05/2010 18:36

hello everyone, congratulations to you all!

I wanted to ask if anyone else is really anxious? I've managed to convince myself the baby has FAS already because I got really drunk 3 times before I found out. And I've been having hot baths, I didn't even know that was bad till I saw it on another thread. Is anyone else like this?

In the end I've booked a private scan for Sat morning, I'll be 7+2 then but I couldn't wait. Now convinced the scan will show a completely empty space!

Poor DH doesn't know what to say

AsiaMajor · 13/05/2010 18:40

Hi,

I found out this week, I am 5 weeks pregnant and still can't quite believe it!

So far feeling fine, long may that continue.

Congratulations to all other expectant mums-to-be out there.

berrycravings · 13/05/2010 18:49

Hi all,

Not yet said hello on this thread (have joined the anti-natal one). I thought I was due on the 6th January due to my 5 week cycle, but the doctor didn't take that into account and has given me an EDD of 1st Jan. I'm not too worried as at this stage is nice to think I'm further ahead and will get my 12 week scan quicker. But I'm expecting to be re-dated at the scan!

emble I only have a bath at home, was so paranoid for the last few weeks being having really cold baths, have realised this is taking it too far and have started warming it up!

This is my first too, very tired at all times even after an early night and eating like a horse, even wake in the night to eat (2.30 last night) and have been dreaming about cake shops... Also crying at everything, the John Lewis advert is too much!

Hope everyone's feeling okay and getting through these nervous early days

berrycravings · 13/05/2010 19:17

emble realised I forgot to put that me having cold baths was a reaction to the fact that I'd been having hot baths too as I also had not realised this was bad. try not to worry, I'm afriad I don't know much about it all, but I wouldn't go for my reaction and shiver in the bath . Hope your scan goes well on Sat.

emble · 13/05/2010 19:30

thank you and congrats to you!

it's my booking-in appointment tomorrow so I can ask the mw all of these things again! I

princessbella17 · 15/05/2010 19:54

AxisofEvil · 18/05/2010 09:44

I had another scan this morning (follow up from my first as I had done privately). And they couldn't see one heart beat. They could see two!

asianbabe · 18/05/2010 09:49

Hey all

Sorry haven't posted for a while just been so tired. Wow axisofevil twins you must be chuffed two for the price of one!!!!

I also want an private scan does anyone know a reputable one in London? Hope everyone is doing well.

MamaPower · 18/05/2010 09:56

AxisofEvil, Congratulations on expecting twins...how very exciting!

AxisofEvil · 18/05/2010 10:30

Not exciting, just rather scary to be honest!

MamaPower · 18/05/2010 13:35

I would be scared too (but also excited)...I am sure you will cope though...wishing you lots and lots of luck x

DeeLL · 18/05/2010 14:10

Congrats on the twins AxisofEvil!
Hope everyone is well. A quick question as it's my first...I went to the GP last week Monday after my BFP at the weekend, but have heard nothing since. I'm not too sure what to expect now, when should I have my booking in appointment by? (I'm 8 weeks). The scan I know comes at 12 weeks, so I'm not sure if I should be following up, it would be nice to see a midwife and unleash all the questions buzzing around in my head! We are waiting to tell people so I'm probably driving my partner mad at the moment!

deedee321 · 18/05/2010 18:27

Axis!!!!!! Wow, so exciting!!!!
