Got a BFP today! 8th January if all goes well! Im praying it does!

Spoofie · 01/05/2010 04:11

Hi everyone. I had a positive yesterday and due date would be 1st Jan. This would be my third bambino after a 3 year gap but after 18 months of trying. Thought it would be easy and come naturally but it's had it's ups and downs but this time feels right. I've had the unexplained waking up too early thing. I had it with my first. I don't know how to use all of these abbreviations like DH for husband etc!

debka · 01/05/2010 06:36

Hey all, AF is now 4 days late but I'm like cherrybaby and don't want to test in case my hopes are dashed.

HOWEVER I have been waking obscenely early (well, not as early as you spoofie, posting at 4am!), is this a symptom?

nofrills · 01/05/2010 09:12

Hello everyone!
I am new and unexpectedly pregnant.
Literally took a test yesterday and not sure how hubby will react, he is away and need to talk about it to someone!
We were planning to start trying in January but now it looks like I will be having a baby in January, edd 6th Jan too!

No real symptoms yet, just no period, feeling exhausted and positive test, oh and quite a bit of cramping which I only get when AF is actually here.

Anyway just wanted to say Hello and join you guys!

stenogirl · 01/05/2010 09:32

Hello everyone,
Lovely to hear everyone's experiences already.
I had a mad day yesterday. Work was great, finished real early and was so happy. But when I got home, I vomited up my lunch. Then felt incredibly tired so lay down. Slept for 2 hours, woke up with headache and to find boyfriend had left house. Had a shower, still looked awful, all spotty and straggly hair. Then boyf texted to be picked up from a mate's. When I got there, I just burst into tears. It was so weird
his mates didn't know what to say. They don't know I'm PG. We stayed there for an hour and I found myself sniping about everything under my breath. I think normally I've had a few bacardis and am not bothered by their banter.
When we got home, boyf was really upset and can't understand the hormone thing.
Is it going to last entire nine months? I don't like it!

Apart from yesterday, being PG is lovely and I'm excited and happy for all the other girls here - can't wait to hear about your journeys x x x

debka · 01/05/2010 11:24

Think I'm going to have to slope off and leave all you happy girls- just got a BFN this morning

Best of luck and may all your pregnancies be happy and trouble-free!

Spoofie · 02/05/2010 09:14

Hi Debka. I know it won't help but it's been a bit like that for the last year or so for me. I was trying before approx 6 of my work colleagues and now they are all due in the middle of this year. I felt like they had overtaken me and I had catching up to do. Then the last few months I thought, it will be ok. Thinking of you.

Spoofie · 02/05/2010 09:23

Morning everyone!
After waking up at 4am yesterday I took the dogs out for fresh air and gave the children their breakfast. DH had to leave for work and the tiredness overwhelmed me. I became ratty with my 2 boys and had lots of cramps. I was being such a worry wart. Thankfully I woke at a sensible time today but still ratty and emotional. I'm constantly tired.
So Stenogirl, I feel we may have the hormone thing in comon, but from what I remember, it calms down in a week or so as long as you're getting enough rest.
Congrats nofrills. How exciting. Even though you planned for starting in Jan, you know you're both singing from the same hymn sheet and that you both want to start a family.

Spoofie · 02/05/2010 09:25

Oh, I can't remember when I'm supposed to go the GP either? Is it at 8-11 weeks for booking in?

stenogirl · 02/05/2010 09:32

I'm so sorry, Debka, about your BFN. Wishing you lots of luck for next time.
Hey Spoofie, yay don't feel alone in my craziness. I hope it does calm down for both of us. I do lie down/sleep when my body says it needs to. I've also started walking whenever I have a burst of energy which helps.

Starberries · 02/05/2010 10:04

Hi all!! Just found out we are pregnant, due 5 Jan, this is our first baby and we're thrilled, partner and I are same-sex mums so thought it would take ages, only took 2 tries!

grumperina · 02/05/2010 11:35

Congratulations, Starberries and partner!

I also found out this morning that I'm pregnant and due some time around 3-7 January (irregular periods so not sure exactly when). Although we're both really pleased about it, I feel a bit as if I've had my bluff called - this is our first, and we'd only been trying for one month, so I wasn't expecting things to happen so fast! So it's lovely to find other people who are in the same situation!

grumperina · 02/05/2010 11:37

Oops, sorry for the double post

nofrills · 02/05/2010 13:32

So sorry to hear that Debka, good luck with everything.

Lots of people already on the thread - congrats everybody!
Did a second test today as still can't quite believe it and was definitely positive.
Hubby has been away so going to have to talk about it all tonight.

nofrills · 02/05/2010 13:36

congrats grumperina, i feel the same as you, happy but totally shocked!

Spoofie, I'm a midwife and I would say the best thing is to see GP around 6weeks as the midwives should book you by 12weeks and that way you can be sure there will be plenty of time for a dating scan and screening if you want it.
Some hospitals have self referrals though so you could always do that yourself, i would send that at around 8 weeks maybe.
So weird to think I am pregnant now, I spend my life surrounded by pregnant women, birth and babies and now I will be doing it myself!

FunkyMonkey1983 · 02/05/2010 16:37

Grumperina, I'm similar to you in that it's our first pregnancy within our first month of trying. It came as a bit of a shock!

Starberries · 02/05/2010 17:10

We're a bit lost with it all, do we contact GP now that we know and ask for an appointment? How does this all work? Also, we are really unhappy with our local hospital, how (and who!) do we approach having the birth at another one?

Parker23 · 02/05/2010 20:22

Hi everyone! So pleased to find this thread and congratulations to all of you!

I got my BFP on 28th March. EDD 6th Jan the same as BigHairyLeggedSpider and nofrills! I'm also 33 and hopefully expecting our first nofrills!

So excited, but trying not to tell the world. Just been out for lunch with the girls and bumped into one of my DH friends who spotted that I was drinking a soft drink and guessed. Think the cat is out of the bag already! Pathetic effort!

Been having light cramps, sweaty night and mood swings. One very sore boob...one not so sore boob!
Either off my food completely or absolutely starving! Anyone else stuffing their faces already? I'm starting to panic! I seem to have developed an obsession with strawberries, double cream and meringues! I know this is a fairly standard craving for anyone and I'm sure it's way too early for 'real' cravings but I don't usually go for sickly sweet food. This can't be good for the weight gain! At this rate I'll look 6 months pregnant by next month!

howold · 02/05/2010 21:04

Hi Everyone

First time posting for me.
I'm due on the 2nd January, all a bit of a shock as I am 43 and my DC are 23 and 20.
I should have known better
Now it's just fingers crossed.

due1111 · 02/05/2010 22:02

HI and congratulations to everyone.

Week 5 been and gone - I think - still not sure how the weeks are worked out... not feeling any different at all apart from obnoxious mood swings and sore boobs - one worse than the other too. I could quite happily kill my husband one minute then crying uncontrollably at that new John Lewis advert the next.

I'm very paranoid as not feeling any different and I've been online like cazy trying to find the answers to all my questions - the only answer I have found is that you don't get the answers by googling... so many women have had so many different and exactly the same experiences that one post makes me feel great the next one has me convinced that the baby is a figment of my imagination.

Concentrating on positive thinking: the small cramps are nothing and it will all be fine...the small cramps are nothing and it will all be fine... repeat as needed!

due1111 · 02/05/2010 22:07

Oh - and I am starving! ALL THE TIME! but probably just my inner fat cow finally having an excuse.

wonderif · 02/05/2010 22:58

hey all and congrats

i have just found out i am pregnant tonight

due early jan too

Spoofie · 03/05/2010 08:41

Morning everyone.

due1111 That new John Lewis advert set me off too. Then, for some reason made me feel very very old.

Congrats wonderif

One very strange thing I did was do another test today and it was negative. I did use a different brand so maybe it was due to it's strength, not sure.
I scoffed my face yesterday to make up for the caffeine withdrawal, didn't work at all. This crazy tiredness is horrid as I have got an urge to decorate the whole house and sort toys and clothes etc into sections but I don't have the energy.

asianbabe · 03/05/2010 16:21

Hi All

I finally got a BFP today my EDD will be 12.01.11 trying calm to not tell the whole world. I am 33 years old and this will be my second pg already have a DS who is 11 so a pretty large age gap!!!!

Just so excited and can't wait to start this journey. Have no symptoms so far apart from sore boobs.
