I know it'll probably be okay and I know I need to just relax and also what will be will be, but anyone else in early pregnancy and with high anxiety about whetehr it will be okay. We've tried for this for so long (over two years) and now I dare not get my hopes up but instead go to looseveral times an hour to check for blood etc. Also my symptoms come and go and this just worries me too. Anyone?

EggsandBacon · 19/04/2010 13:58

Yes!! I think about it all the time, can't relax. I had a miscarriage last time at 10 weeks, I'm not yet 6 weeks now, and on 24hr knicker watch. I keep saying to myself (in my head) "one day at a time" - and remembering that all I can do is try to be healthy and not eat/drink anything I shouldn't, as if it does go wrong then I can't change that anyway.

I know that doesn't help, but just wanted you to know you're not alone and it is normal, and the odds are stacked in our favour that this will all work out just fine!!

cardamomginger · 19/04/2010 14:07

Yup - same here! Have just about calmed down at 17 weeks, although have just started getting anxious in the run up to the 20 week scan. Think these feelings are perfectly normal!
CONGRATULATIONS!!!

Kittykatzen · 19/04/2010 14:11

I am totally with you yellowflowers! I am 7+3 and absolutely freaking out all the time! My poor husband doesn't know what to do with me bursting in to tears every day in case our baby has died. At least I have stopped running to the loo every half an hour to check I'm not bleeding! Today I cried for an hour then ran off to Boots to retest myself because I felt less sick than normal. I am counting down the hours until my first scan on Wednesday (which I am having privately as I am too anxious even to wait for an NHS one). It's just so reassuring to know that other mums-to-be feel just as scared and anxious as I do - we're all in this together... And like EggsandBacon said, the odds are in our favour! Deep breath and relax!

gemcgem · 19/04/2010 14:29

hi yellowflowers , i was the same! as with my first pregnancy i had a missed mc an did't know the baby had died till i went for my routine 12 week scan, he/she had died 4 weeks earlier. every twinge i worried somthing was wrong!?!? but hay im on my 6th healthy pregnancy (im 28 weeks now).

relax injoy i know its hard but try to stay positive !
good luck with the the rest of your pregnancy!

yellowflowers · 19/04/2010 15:19

thanks all. I have done the same Kittykatzen - was reassured by second digital test showing me to be more pregnant than first but still worried and I also have early scan booked for next week. But as you say eggs and bacon, one day at a time. Every day there is no blood I think that the odds get better because miscarriage less likely the further on you are.

Yes! I had a panic attack the day I found out, despite being over the moon. My male doctor drawled "oh don't worry, be happy, be positive" as I sat there saying "I'm freaking out" but fortunately a lovely (female) student doctor gave me the best advice "Just remember that thousands of women give birth to healthy babies every day - why shouldn't you be one of them".

For me the anxiety settled down as I got more confidence in being pregnant - it's such a shock to the system even when planned. Another thing the doctor said - "You've been trying for 10 months, you should be prepared". I have no problem talking to male doctors about female issues but that did make me resolve only to see female doctors who've had children from then on!

Good luck, I hope your scan puts your mind at ease.

I am so glad I found this thread - totally and utterly agree wth you all - it's beyond stressful and it is all consumming!

I am currently 7+5 and have finally got pregnant after a missed miscarriage at 10 weeks in November 2008 and after 14 months of trying ever since..

I have had brown/pink discharge on and off since 5 weeks, but had a scan at 6 weeks and saw a heartbeat.. But it's not enough, like Eggs and Bacon, I had no idea my little bean had died at 10 weeks (no cramping or blood) until I went for my 12 weeks scan - all very sad, but hey, I am off for another scan tomorrow, I am also going to have one at 10 weeks and a dating / nuchal fold scan if I am still pregnant at 12 weeks.. I won't relax until after the 20 week one I don't think...

Big congratulations to you all - it's a good start!

When is everyone due?!!! I am due 1st December

xx

Hermya321 · 19/04/2010 19:54

So glad I found this one, same here panic attacks and general all round anxiety.

It does help I can feel the jellybaby moving around now, but I'm still all over the place. I hope it calms down soon. I'm really not used to being like this.

jse · 19/04/2010 19:56

Hi all, this is my 1st message, so here goes.. I have been through a pregnancy and my daugter is now 2and a half, i clearly remember that horrible morning sickness that i suffered untill 14 weeks! however im now 10 weeks pregnant and weirdly do not feel pregnant let alone suffering any sickness/nausia!! this is why i feel so anxious! I even done another test yesterday to confirm!!! has anyone gone through a pregnancy with no side effects at all in the 1st 12 weeks? of course im tired but thats running after my daughter all day!!!!

yellowflowers · 19/04/2010 20:10

hi all - great news we've found eachother. dh got home today to find me in state of high stress. Mainly I just check my knickers all the time. I veer between getting excited and researching names and thinking it's never going to work. On the other hand I booked myself in to the midwife team at the hospital I want to go to today so it seems quite real. I have my 7 week scan next week - don't know how I will wait until then.

jse · 19/04/2010 20:20

hi yellowflowers, Are you suffering any sickness? totally understand where your coming from! But like i keep being told we shouldn't worry as we have no reson to.. easier said than done x

Biscuitbreaker · 19/04/2010 20:54

Me!

I have lots of stomach cramps and am so worried. I just SO want everything to be ok.

DomesticG0ddess · 19/04/2010 21:27

Oh yes, totally anxious. I had a miscarriage in January and got pregnant straight after without a period so I don't think I had really "dealt" with it, iykwim. I am now 13+3 and had private scans at 8 and 10 weeks, had my 12 week scan, and bought a fetal doppler. So you are not alone!

Symptoms always fluctuate, so do not worry about that. Cramps also normal, and I have had lots of tummy problems this time we can sometimes feel like period pains, but actually it's my guts .

Good luck with your scan next week.

jse, not the same, but I feel a LOT less sick than with DS. Some people don't get symptoms, but there might be some you aren't thinking of - bloating for example, constipation, veiny boobs and bigger nipples, etc!?

yellowflowers · 19/04/2010 23:07

Hi. Actually some spots of pink brown blood today. Was feeling sick last week but not this week. Boobs do hurt though. Am convinced it's not going to work but am trying to stay positive and hope for best.

DuelingFanjo · 19/04/2010 23:16

Hi yellowflowers ...Yes, me.

Hurting boobs have gone. I have no sickness. I have no tiredness. Miscarried last year so terrified it will happen again. 2 weeks to the scan. I had IVF and everyone who knows keeps asking me 'how are you feeling?' which is really stressing me out as it's making me worry that I am not feeling the way they are expecting me to feel. I am 6 weeks +2.

No amount of relaxation, Bowen Technique (whatever that is), acupuncture, or 'It'll be fine' and 'I have a good feeling' from my friends is going to help. I think I will spend at least up until the scan (And maybe beyond) in a permanent state of low level anxiety and not many people seem to understand why.

Hope the spotting turns out to be nothing YF, thinking of you.

yellowflowers · 19/04/2010 23:37

Thanks dueling. We didn't have ivf but other than I totally get how you are feeling. I am contemplating bringing my scan forward but think that could cause
more anxiety because I will only be 6 weeks tomorrow and they probably wouldn't see anything.

Hermya321 · 20/04/2010 09:39

Biscuitbreaker I've had stomach cramps on and off all along, as long as you're not bleeding along with it then it should be fine.

EggsandBacon · 20/04/2010 09:53

Yellowflowers - hope spotting is ok and turns out to be nothing, I've heard that happens a lot in healthy pregnancies.

DomesticGoddess - sorry to ask way too much info, but can I ask you about tummy problems?!? I'm tying myself in knots as I have sort of mild diarrhea for the last few days. Sometimes it feels like my intestines are messed up and aches, reminds me how my guts feel when I've had a panic attack. I had this last time as well, so it just makes me think it's not working out. I wish I knew if it was a normal thing to happen!!

EggsandBacon · 20/04/2010 09:55

P.S. I just wanted to say to everyone what my DH said to me this morning - "Your body is growing a baby so weird shit will happen". Kind of helps in a way - if you are feeling anxious, that's probably a good sign too as your hormones are all over the place!! One day at a time...

Wholelottalove · 20/04/2010 10:02

EggsandBacon I've been having diarrhoea off and on for the past week or so, just one episode a day, then the last 24 hours have developed what seems to be a stomach bug. Off work with it today and spoke to docs who said it's fine if not having pain - to which I replied no other than niggles on and off and pain through the episodes of diarrhoea - but if it continued to call in two days as they will have to test to see if there is an infection. He also said drink lots fluids and don't take anything for it.

I'm 5-6 weeks btw, and a lot of the pains/aches etc I remember having when pg with DD. In fact, last time I had quite a few 'stabbing' type pains off and on and had two early scans. It was all fine - DD is now 2.

DuelingFanjo · 20/04/2010 10:11

I am still waiting for the Weird shit to happen

I had diarrhoea for one day at just over 5 weeks, with really bad cramping and sickness but nothing since.

mermaidspurse · 20/04/2010 13:00

wouldn't it be nice if someone could wrap us all up in cotton wool and place us up on a nice safe high shelf and leave us there for say 4 weeks.
I can't go through all this again it's playing havoc with my sense of humour.

I am today 6+4 quite an achievement for me really so I try and feel a little bit proud everyday. I have had 5 mc so have levels of acute anxiety. I am going in for a scan tomorrow.

Yellowflowers you have waited so long for this bfp I really hope things are ok.

duelling my friends are scared to say anything now.

mrspear · 20/04/2010 13:14

oh my god i was so scared and was constantly going to the loo for knicker check! I am sitting here with my baby and still find myself thinking i can't believe he is mine! [i had 4 msc before]

EggsandBacon · 20/04/2010 13:30

Good luck for tomorrow mermaid, will be thinking of you!!
