October 2010 babies?

1001 replies

Hi, I am a first-timer Mum to Be and Baby has been given a due date of 1 October. Very early dates still, so nervous and excited I cannot think about anything else! Planning not to tell family and friends till the first three months are over, but it's going to be tough!
Anyone else expecting an October baby out there?

According to my midwife, it is to be expected as we are nearing the end of the first 12 weeks, so try not to worry & enjoy feeling more human!

piesey · 24/03/2010 09:55

Morning everyone - hoep you are all ok today. Well I'm 9 weeks today, which is exciting although I'm finding the time going very slowly. I don't have my scan until the 19th April which seems ages away!

I think my MS is getting better although I'm wondering if this is because I'm better at dealing with it now (ie constantly eating...) so it doesn't ever get too bad. Having said that I do feel terrible in the evenings on the way home form work.

I'm still really tired - sleeping 10 hours a night but by about 3pm in work I'm ready to fall asleep - it's terrible! How do other people cope with full time jobs and feeling like this?

Lizkin · 24/03/2010 10:37

Hello everyone,

I haven't posted on here or even read the thread for weeks, been feeling too rubbish, but I'm glad to say things are a lot better - I'm 11 weeks today and MS seems to have dwindled to almost nothing, hooray! There was a point I thought it would never end.

Glad to hear that lots of you are feeling better too.

And we've had the first scan, too - due date confirmed as 13th Oct and the little one wriggled and waved at us - magical! Dh was able to come too, it really affected him. Pretty special.

Well, anyway, just thought I owed you all an update and good luck to you all, hope the tiredness eases Piesey - it has for me a bit now, though there were a lot of days that I slept for 10-12 hours and was still tired!

By the way, is anyone else taking Vitamin D supplements and do you know what the advice is about when and how much? I figure 11 weeks is a good time to start as I read that some bones are starting to form - any tips?

Cheers all,

FutureMum · 24/03/2010 10:40

I am 13 weeks and still feeling sick unless I eat every 2-3 hours or I am asleep. Keep falling asleep in front of telly not later than 9 pm (sometimes as early as 7.30 pm). If I sleep 9 hours, I get some energy in the morning, but by about 1 pm, it's down the hill the rest of the day.
Long haul hols tomorrow, I was hoping to feel better then, now I also have to think what to take with me to eat on plane as BA catering is disrupted.
Piesey, all I can say is if you feel tired, sleep and rest as much as you can, it's the only thing that works now!

piesey · 24/03/2010 11:00

Glad to hear I'm not alone falling asleep all day! And having to eat every 3 hours as well. I can just about survive form 9am after porridge to 12pm to run and get some lunch!

FutureMum - I am the same - I get some morning energy after a long sleep but it goes very quickly. This is my first weekend free and at home since I found out I was pregnant and I am staying in bed! DH has said he will be my personal slave for the weekend (although I think he's secretly happy he can spend the weekend ion bed too!).

Katy86 · 24/03/2010 11:28

havnt written on here in ages as been feeling a bit more sick than usual so just been generally feeling sorry for myself...glad alot of u are starting to feel better...scan on 1st April CANT WAIT

xx

DillyDora · 24/03/2010 11:59

Hey all, have to agree with the tiredness thing. I got all excited as I thought it was lifting but it wasn't, it was just that I was doing less over the weekend so I felt better!!! Doh! Wednesday now and back to feeling rubbish - definitely bed at 9pm every night. I'm 10 weeks tmrw and thought the sickness was easing but it's back the more tired I get - I don't chuck but I cough and retch and belch - it's hideous, I can't imagine what DH must think, I just walk around the house in the morning retching, belching and cursing - class! Just getting through and leaving work as early as I can each day. Also the yukky taste in my mouth - gah! Hate that.

oooh, what a right old moan! Of course, I am also thrilled to bits! Can't wait for scan on April 8th (ooooh so far away).

Have a great day everyone, try to stay awake

Daynee · 24/03/2010 12:19

So I'm 11+4, and glad to hear that symptoms are supposed to calm down...Sometimes I don't even feel preggers anymore - except for being so darn tired!

Two more days, then I'm off from work for 2 WEEKS!!!!!!! Can you say...LAZY TIME?!

babybunting2010 · 24/03/2010 12:59

OH MY GOD!!! Sorry to moan but I've had enough today!!! Nothing to do with the pregnancy just so racked off with work and having a really really bad day!!!! Can't shake off the bad mood!

Just want to go home and ignore the world! SO ANGRY!!! How come I have to work twice as hard now and get f-all back! Swear to God my boss hates me since I became pregnant!!!!

sorry guys just needed to vent my frustration before I exploded! Seriously angry today!

Might have to go get myself something nice for lunch!

How is everyone else's day today? Am so pleased to be over the morning sickness stage, was really starting to get me down!

Hi babybunting, sorry to hear about your loser of a boss. Similar situation but moving back to Cornwall next week so hahaha he can't touch me. Got my final exam tomorrow so when I go and hand back my locker key etc I'm going to politely tell the little bastard (he also has really close together eyes) that I enjoyed taking the exams so much, I don't want to leave because it's been the best month of my life. The little arsehole told me that he didn't want me to take the exams (after a year long course) because I was pregnant and said 'if your kid dies, I don't want that on me'. God I so want to pass tomorrow so that I can shove it right in his horrible little smug face. Ah. That's better. Still, had the scan on Monday (woo woo!) and it was lush. Going back on Friday for another one because every time the sonographer tried to measure it, baby wiggled round every single time so its bum faced us! Hope everyone's feeling better this week, nearly all of us into the 2nd trimester! xx

DillyDora · 25/03/2010 08:08

Hi Lovelies,

Now, this could be a risky statement - I don't want to be like one of those blokes who says 'It's just your hooooormoooones' meaning your problems aren't real but I had a couple of really insanely angry/manic days as well - genuinely upsetting/angry making things had happened but I was just incandescent with fury which wasn't really necessary. Then the random crying started and I thought 'huh, maybe it's a pregnancy thing'. Umm... I realise that may not be helpful so you can throw marshmallows at my head ....

mummybeth - moustache - check, beard - check..on the upside I think I have longer eyelashes...

Old wives tales, from my lovely Greek leg waxing lady - if your skin breaks out you're having a girl! Woohoo! Learning to love my acne....

Midwife due here at 9, I should maybe get dressed....

nomorewine · 25/03/2010 08:18

Oh I am doing that getting very uncontrollably angry thing a lot too. I am normally quite chilled & it takes a lot to make me blow, but nobody wants to upset me atm!

Apparently if your left brest grows larger than the right you're expecting a girl, and if your right grows larger you're expecting a boy! Not sure what the score is if they are the same size - maybe twins!

babybunting2010 · 25/03/2010 09:37

Hahaha Thanks all, nope def wasn't just the pregnancy hormones yesterday. One of my colleagues called me last night and bitched about everything too! Which is good!

Jazzie, give the boss man and slap from me!

Dilly and Nomore: I seem to have half the symptoms for a boy and half for a girl!!!! But there is def only one in there, and it waved at my scan! Ahhh... I hope I am not having a half and half baby!

Have a lovely day all... I feel a little sick today but bully boss being quite nice at the second, milking his good mood and keep getting him talking about other things to procrastinate!

xx

piesey · 25/03/2010 10:16

Mmm yes I seem to be having a half boy and half girl too!

And I've also got a mousatche and the odd beard hair appearing too. However my nails are very shiny and strong which makes a nice change!

Hope you all have a lovely day - I'm starting on ym third breakfast of the mornign in the hope it will stop em feeling sick! x

Daynee · 25/03/2010 12:18

mummy - The moustache had me laughing! I can't say that I have one too, but my leg and armpit hair is growing like crazy!

Dilly - If it's true about the breaking out, then I'm having a boy because I haven't had a single pimple to report, just these weird ingrown hairs on my legs, which have caused HUGE pimple like things full of blood and water and such...sorry TMI.

baby - Glad you're doing better! I feel for you...I'm happy I have cool bosses that pretty much leave me be.

Today is my last day ...Off for 2 weeks!! I think I'm going to do some gardening and lots of reading...any other suggestions?

DillyDora · 25/03/2010 12:24

Hi All,

Ah babybunting if it's not the hormones, then it must be the other thing - your boss is a wakner!

Just met my midwife - lovely lovely lovely. Also she did all my bloods etc in the comfort of my own home - flippin' great service eh? Have to see the consultants at 16 weeks cos I'm asthmatic but it will be fine and they'll refer me back to her she says - she made the appt for me right then and there. Seriously, I'm beginning to think the Whittington was the right choice!

Just had epic blood sugar crash, really thought I was going to faint. My own stupid fault

Daynee loving your 2 weeks off! Wonderful, enjoy.

xx

nunnie · 25/03/2010 12:24

My breasts are too small to notice if one is bigger than the other, but on quick glance both are the same size does that mean it's undecided what is wants to be?

MummyBeth · 25/03/2010 13:00

Hmmm - It would appear that I'm having a half and half too! Eek!

Nunnie I wish I had your problem - I currently have 2 basketballs - normally a 28FF. Have booked an appointment for Monday to get some new ones - I'm going to ask her to keep the size a secret and hope to goodness she has something in store to fit - I have been known to cry when bra shopping as I'm sent out feeling like a freak!

Had a rubbish day yesterday so hoping for a good one today - so far not too bad but this tends to be my turning point - Brandy balls at the ready!

Have a great day ladies - Sorry to hear about your boss troubles think we've all been there at some point - probably why I'm not self employed!

xxxx

MummyBeth · 25/03/2010 13:48

oops can't type - meant NOW self employed! - Love how I totally just made out I was the worst boss ever!

mamjo · 25/03/2010 13:48

Hi Ladies,

Its great reading about all your angry moments because I was starting to think its just me. My mum is copping it a lot because she keeps trying to give me advice and I just want to explode.

We had some workmen working on the road outside my house the other night at midnight and stopping me from sleeping (I think we are all understanding the need for sleep at the moment) so I got up, got dressed, and went out in the street to ask them to be quiet but just ended up ranting at them while getting louder and more hostile. I am normally such a gentle person who can make her point but never loses her temper. It then took me 20 minutes to calm down once I was back inside.

As for the energy thing, I agree. I am OK from about 8 till 1 but then that's it, nothing left. Unfortunately really busy at work at the mo so am am in the office from 8 - 8 then its home, food and bed. roll on Easter for the few extra days off.

Anyway have my scan on Sunday so have lots to look forward too while sitting here feeling rubbish.

Sorry for ranting ladies but sometimes I just need to get it off my chest.

DillyDora · 25/03/2010 14:51

Hi again,

O you lot make me laugh mamjo I quite want to rewrite your story to have you in your pjs! Seriously I would never have had the nerve to go out to speak to them. Brave! Also nuff respect for how hard you are working, I don't know how you do it.

mummybeth have boob envy...I'm built more like nunnie sigh! Ooh, self-employed, tres fab and glam, hope you're going to give yourself a good maternity package!

BTW, mw told me I should be drinking 2l of water a day (yeah, and move my desk into the loo and have done) but in all seriousness, I've been trying to drink more for the last few days and have felt much better and ahem...no more constipation (sorry if that's TMI) so if anyone else is suffering...

nomorewine · 25/03/2010 15:39

My boobs are mammoth atm, but I started of as a 32E. My nipples are beyond a joke already & I give myself a shock everytime I remove my bra!! Hope they are going to calm down a bit over the coming months!

I had been feeling lots better, but last night I had my shopping delivered at 9pm & couldn't finish my unpacking as felt exhausted & sick. Had fancied the pinapple chunks I ordered, so started eating some as I unpacked, then decided it was a bad idea as I started feeling rather queasy straight after. Was in bed by 9.30pm, feeling sick & exhausted.

MummyBeth · 25/03/2010 16:18

Not glam at all Dilly Maternity leave = no business = no income!! So just the stat leave which is not very much! - Saving everything at the moment!! TBH thought we would have more time got preggers on 1st attempt which is amazing considering I was diagnosed with endometriosis last year.

nomorewine I feel your pain - am sleeping with sports bra and secret support tops as I started waking up in the night with extreme pain when wearing support tops alone - seemed to help if you're having similar woes. Also not looking forward to the bravissimo bills!!

I'm back on the McDonalds tonight - DH has just been texted to bring one home at 6
