October 2010 babies?

Hi, I am a first-timer Mum to Be and Baby has been given a due date of 1 October. Very early dates still, so nervous and excited I cannot think about anything else! Planning not to tell family and friends till the first three months are over, but it's going to be tough!
Anyone else expecting an October baby out there?

I'm sooo jealous of all you lucky ladies having scans or at least knowing when they are!

I have heard nothing - and I'm 10+2. I wrote on another page to get information about how it works here in Scotland (I'm not a native) but just wish I knew.

Not feeling too bad today - my dad has posted me a huge box of brandy balls and apple tart sweets from NI - they are amazing! I've even been able to open the fridge whilst sucking one!

Enjoy the rest of your day!

piesey · 18/03/2010 16:32

Oh I love Brandy balls MummyBeth! My DH is from NI so we are over quite often to see his folks. I also love Butlers Irish truffles, but doubt I'd keep them doen at the moment!

sophieandbelly · 18/03/2010 16:49

hi girls, i to have not posted for age.

soooo funny my dp was reading my dd a book i was in other room, and she said 'whats my mummy got in her tummy?' (we r not keeping on at her just answering any questions) like not letting her jump on me and dp lifting her in to cot!

anyway dp says what do u think mummy has in tummy, she said 'a boy called ben!, can he sleep in my room tonight?' dp-'no baby still needs to grow alot in mummy tummy wnt be along for a while its to small' dd- 'o how does it come out of mummy!! do i need to catch it!!' she is only 2.5 and nos it all!!
i also have scan date a week tues and been sent my 20 wk scan 4 may and consultant appointment all seems to come at once!!

hope all scans go well esp for those who r worried with blood etc. i deff had blood in first trimester with dd, and a heavy bleed at 23 wks. and all was gd xx

Daynee · 18/03/2010 16:53

Hi ladies...Well, it's around 1:00 pm here...around 5:00 pm there...I'm jealous of all of you Englanders because you are off of work now and ready to eat dinner!!

I'm counting down the minutes until I can get out of here. Why am I soooooooo DARN tired!!!? I swear I could sit on my butt all day and I'd be as happy as a pig in sh*t! Anyone else feeling totally unmotivated to do much of anything at all??

babybunting - Good luck tomorrow. Don't worry...around 9-10 weeks, I was feeling not-so-pregnant anymore, and now the symptoms are back...

Dilly - Good luck to you also tomorrow!!

nomorewine · 18/03/2010 18:30

I am 10 weeks today & was going to post that my sicky feeling seems to have almost gone, as yesterday I didn't really notice it, but right now it appears it is back!
Also had a bad nights sleep due to wind & the tummy pain that goes with it & DS2 up with earache, so feeling pretty tired today.

Good luck to those of you having your scans. I just want to fast forward to mine now & see if there really is something growing in there!

JazzieJeff · 18/03/2010 19:34

Aw nomorewine poor you and I hope your DS feels better soon
Dilly; good luck for tomorrow I'll be thinking of you!
Sophie; that's so cute lol! Your DD sounds so adorable!
Got my 12 week scan on Monday can't believe how fast its come around... Don't even feel very pregnant at the moment, had so much else to think about what with work at the moment I've hardly had time to think about the baby, feel quite guilty now

ellabella2 · 18/03/2010 20:21

Sophieandbelly, your DD sounds like such a little sweetie and is sure to make a wonderful big sister.

Piesy, Dilly and others who have had bleeding/spotting. It is so scary isn't it but it seems for sanity sake we have to get our heads around the fact that these things happen and you can still end up with a beautiful healthy baby at the end of it all! It's taken me nearly a week to settle myself and I'm just starting to be able to allow myself some excitement about being pregnant again.

It sounds like I've got off really lightly on the sysmptom front. My mild queasiness has tailed off even more in the last week or so and I'm able to face more and more foods. I've always loved my food so will be very happy to get back to enjoying it properly again in the near future So feeling for all of you still suffering badly with nausea/sickness.

I've got my booking-in appointment tomorrow. It all seems a bit back to front having already had a scan I'm hoping to persuade my midwife that I can have another scan before 20 weeks. My so called 12 week dating scan was hardly under ideal circumstances and I was only 10weeks. Fingers crossed.

Here's to a good nights sleep for everyone x

babybunting2010 · 19/03/2010 09:09

Morning All,

Well still no M/S and can actually drink and smell coffee (Decaff of course!) Without heaving! Do you think everything is ok?

Sophieandbelly, that is the sweetest thing I have ever heard! Sounds like she is going to be proud as punch when she meets her Brother/Sister.

Daynee, Thanks hun, you are right I just need to calm down, you just hear so many horror stories of people going for their scans and it not being ok! I am sure it will be fine. I must keep telling myself that it will be ok!

Anyway have a lovely day all!

xx

piesey · 19/03/2010 09:32

Morning all

Not feeling quite as sick today (although still a bit nauseus) so of course have started to worry! Will try not to.

Off to a wedding this weekend so am planning my excuses for not drinking....

Dilly good luck today - I hope evrything is fine.

ellabella2 - yes it is scary and you're right - we have to stay calm. Hope evrything continues to be ok for you.

sophieandbelly - Your DD sounds like a sweetie! I love the things children say. Thanks for sharing your story too - it's reassuring to hear that everything can be well after bleeding.

mimcomum · 19/03/2010 12:36

Hi all you Mummies-to-be

Loving all your updates! Hope all those who have had worries feel reassured soon. I have just joined this site and am due in October 2010 also - currently 10 weeks pregnant. Due to have my first hospital appointment in 10 days time. I am on holiday from work this week so have allowed myself to begin to get excited and have been surfing mumsnet and pushchair reviews, etc. This will actually be my 3rd baby but because I'm heading towards 40 I guess I'm a bit more concerned this time around. Anyway, I look forward to sharing your stories over the coming months and here's hoping it's all quick and painless come October

DillyDora · 19/03/2010 12:54

Hello Hello! Finally got into the office so I can post to you. Well, as you can guess it's good news! The nurse was lovely, got through the preliminary stuff as quickly as she could, did an abdominal scan (no dildo cam for me!) and all of a sudden there was the bean! And she really does look like a bean!!! I thought I would cry but I didn't, I clapped my hands and waved at the screen and said 'Hello, I'm your mummy!' so now the nurse probably thinks I'm a bit 'special' . So, thanks for all your support and HURRAAAY!

Good luck babybunting for today.

Big love to all and thanks for all the scary yet reassuring stories.
Might have a little celebratory dance around the office now...

Oh, and now that I'm back on track - please can someone tell me about Brandy Balls! I am currently on Refreshers to cut the quease/yukky taste though one of my DSS's turned up today with ginger chews! Where do these mysterious things come from?! I must find out especially if they taste good - what could be better for ms??!

Just so you know, I have my tights pulled right up to my ribs to try to keep them off my tender tum!

Byfield · 19/03/2010 14:12

Hi im goin 2 b a first time mum and due on 14th october and im so excited but scared as well. I work part time 20hours and boyfriends works full time but im stuck weather i would be better off not working and letting my fiancee work and me claim benifits as i might get more money on benifits than me working 20hors! Im stuck can anyone help me as this is all new 2 me. Thanks

ellabella2 · 19/03/2010 14:59

Welcome mimcomum and byfield

Byfield, I'm afraid I can't give you any helpful advice. I know there is a useful government website with loads of information re maternity leave rights/benefits etc but I can't remember it Sorry. If I remember I'll post it.

Dilly, YAY so happy for you that you had a wonderful scan. How pregnant are you? Will this be your dating scan or will you get another one? Refeshers . . . mmmmmmm they sound good. (note to self to get DP to get some on the way home)Nice look with the tights I was trying on my clothes last night and trying out the hair band trick so that I can still get into my skinny jeans without squashing my little tum!

I've just had my booking-in appointment. Lovely midwife . She is going to try and get me another scan as a 'proper' dating scan so we can see our little buba beanie again . I want to see him/her EVERY day!

DillyDora · 19/03/2010 15:08

Hi Mimcomum and byfield Yeah, sorry, no clue about benefity things (except that poor ol' DH didn't get them when he got made redundant - bah!).

Thanks ellabella I'm 9+1 both according to me and they didn't contradict me in the scan though maybe they will at the dating/nuchal scan on April 8th. Just to update you, tights are now rolled down round hips... why can't they make nice hold ups in lots of colours?! I'm liking the sound of the hairband trick, equally I am liking the sound of spending the rest of my pregnancy in stretchy dresses...or indeed just big t-shirts!!! Glad your mw is lovely and will try to get you another scan - it's the coolest!!!!

Byfield · 19/03/2010 15:14

Thanks anyway but it was worth a try. I totally hate the sickness

KFW · 19/03/2010 16:00

Hi

I just thought I'd sign up to this today as I saw the October 2010 babies post. I am due at the end of October and it's still early days (I am 8 weeks). I have had 3 first trimester miscarriages, so I am far from confident but am hoping that this one will work out. I have only been this far along once before... It's good to hear everyone's stories (although I confess that I kind of skipped to the end of the 60-odd page string!), and also good to know I am not the only one already struggling with waist bands. I am usually a size 8 and already everything is uncomfortable. I have to wear suits to work - my trousers are all too small and tights with skirts make me feel sick. I am also absolutely knackered the whole time. But to be honest, any symptoms are reassuring. Is anyone else nervous due to previous miscarriages?

Hope all goes well for all.

Daynee · 19/03/2010 16:06

Hi KFW - Congrats on your baby bean! I'm currently 11 weeks and YES, very NERVOUS because I've had 4 mc's (no dc yet) - they were all very early, approximately 6 weeks...went to a bunch of specialists and took a bunch of tests and nothing is wrong...just one of those "bad luck" things...perhaps bad eggies or spermies.

Anyway, a few more weeks and you should be good to go. Be positive because odds are still in your favor, even with multiple mc's!!

DillyDora · 19/03/2010 16:09

Ooh, yes, and KFW the nurse told me today that the m/c risk starts dropping from 8 weeks! So....good. Hang on in there!

waterbabemum · 19/03/2010 22:35

Hi

I also just signed up I'm currently 10 and also been very nervous due to previous mc. Just trying to rest lots and not worry (easier said than done). Its just over 1 week till my scan and I cant wait.

Also I found that many of my clothes are uncomfortable making me feel more queasy, but a bump band and some button hole elastic has helped!!

nomorewine · 20/03/2010 08:52

I have just had a very odd dream. I had my 20 week scan & then that night I gave birth to a 7lb baby! I had not got round to telling anyone I was pregnant & amazingly I wasn't showing at all, so had to announce to everyone (including my work) that I had just given birth to a baby. Thought baby was a boy at first & then on changing a nappy, I found out it was a girl with swollen bits!! Very strange dream!

MummyBeth · 21/03/2010 17:17

Aww congrats to all you ladies who've seen your baby on screen - how exciting!

I still haven't heard about my scan - 10+4 and counting. I've been very lucky as no spotting, stong symptoms etc. but I can't help worrying that it's either all in my head or that something is wrong.

Seriously thinking about a private scan now - but you know that as soon as I book that I'll get a date for the free NHS one 2 days after or something!

Hope you're all had a pleasant weekend.

Dilly BrandyBalls are a boiled sweet that you get in NI - you might be able to buy them on the internet - there's a company called Raffles who make them they might send you some!

JazzieJeff · 21/03/2010 18:18

Hiya girls, scan tomorrow! Squeal! Just hoping all will be ok... If it is, I am literally going to scream it from the rooftops because I have no shame. I've kept this to myself for what feels like a zillion years and I can't wait for all my friends to be excited for me too! Sorry, just had to come on and have one last quick jiggle with excitement at it all with people who know haha!
MummyBeth; If you fancy a private scan they're only about £70 I was thinking about having another one done actually.
Take care everyone! xxx

FutureMum · 22/03/2010 09:27

Sending you good vibes, Jazzie Jeff, hope your scan goes great tomorrow! (and to all the mums about to have scans) It is a lovely feeling - have got the piccie in the mantelpiece and I go and say hello and look at the baby several times a day. Helps me when I'm having a sicky feeling day! (which is pretty much every day).

babybunting2010 · 22/03/2010 09:47

Hey all!

Hope

Little baby bunting is fine and looked cute as a button at it's scan. Finally feels a little more real. Have been asked to go back for another scan in 2 weeks just to check something but I am not worrying about it as the Midwife said that she wasn't worried at all. EDD slightly changed to the 13th October!

Very happy! grin even went and bought a rocking chair and pushchair yesterday.

Thank you all so much for caring it's lovely!
