October 2010 babies?

Hi, I am a first-timer Mum to Be and Baby has been given a due date of 1 October. Very early dates still, so nervous and excited I cannot think about anything else! Planning not to tell family and friends till the first three months are over, but it's going to be tough!
Anyone else expecting an October baby out there?

Hope all goes well with your scan, Dilly.

Muggle - I am exactly the same with food atm. Will think I fancy something but once I start feeling queasy after eating it, that's another thing I'm off. Really struggling with knowing what to have for a meal each evening & cooking is not at all appealling.

Anyone else noticing their tummy is starting to look a little inflated?
I am not yet 10 weeks, but looked at my stomach in the bath tonight & it is definitely looking non too flat, even while lying down!

Katy86 · 17/03/2010 11:05

yes my belly has popped out a bit too nomorewine and im 10+3

DillyDora · 17/03/2010 11:15

Hi All

Thanks jazzie and nomore - I'll be 9 weeks tomorrow! Still feel rough though less sicky today but I think as a result of my constant complaints my boobs may be growing! Hurrah!

Yeah I go on and off foods all the time - currently off coffee in a big way but back on to tea (o good!). Last night I ate findus crispy pancakes, chips and beans!!! I would never eat that but I was really craving it. Just crave carby junk really...

mad mad mad at work

Hi there I hev been lurking around but have finally decided to post. Please may I join? I'm 8 weeks today and due 27th October (at least I think so but haven't had dating scan yet).

Dilly - I hope evrything is ok for you. I know how worrying this is.

I had some brown spotting at 6+5 and had an early scan at 7 weeks - all was fine, but on Monday I had another (sorry if TMI) 'gush' of brown blood - not much but it came all at once and then tiny amounts fo brown cm ever since. Rang my GP who I'm seeing tomorrow but she told me not to worry as it can happen and if it's not red then it should hopefully be ok. It's very scary though. I wonder if she refer me for another scan?

Apart from that I feel sick 24/7 - I feel so sick all the tme it's terrible - and have sore boobs so I'm hoping that the symptoms are a good sign.

How does everyone else cope at work when you feel so bad?

FutureMum · 17/03/2010 12:28

Had the 12 week scan this morning, what a wonderful experience to see the little one. Worth all the blood tests and the wait. Having some lunch now and hoping everything turns out well at the next scan, too! : )

oh ladies, thanks so much for your comments. I'm a first time mum-to-be as well and the first of my friends to start a family too. Not that I've told them but I feel like I need to talk about it - can think of nothing else!!

I'm 9 weeks today and really getting desperate to hear about my scan date so there is a bit on an end point to focus on.

I had a positive test result before my missed period - it was our first attempt and I was upset cause my boobs were sore which I took to mean my period was coming so thought I would test with first response to put myself out of my misery. Cried like a baby when it was +ve. This was confirmed by the doctor a week later. These have been the longest weeks of my life!

Anyone else keep having nightmares that they lose the baby? Last night was the worst - In that dream I was bleeding and in the blood could see the baby and it's heart beating. V. disturbing - Hubby woke me up cause I was crying in my sleep!!

Sorry for going on but think I might explode if I don't let it out!

busylady · 17/03/2010 13:14

hi ladies

can I join in? I'm due on 29th October and will be 8 weeks on Friday, I've got one DS who is 4 and I had a MC last year so I've been a bit worried!

Had a bit of MS, well, just feeling queasy if I'm honest, have felt ok today just taking each day as it comes

X

Daynee · 17/03/2010 13:21

Muggle - I'm a teacher too, and soooooo glad I don't have parents night for the rest of the year! I do have over an hour commute to and from work, so by the time I get home, I hit the couch and my dh has to make me food! I'm in bed by 7:00! I have a 2-week Sprink break coming up and I can not wait!!!!

nomorewine - I can't seem to figure out what to eat either. Usually, I end up having soup and toast! And I'm 10+4 and already showing...I'm normally ver small, so I think that's why!

futuremom Congrats on your scan!! I'm so excited but so nervous about my 12+ week scan in a few weeks...

DillyDora · 17/03/2010 14:20

Hi piesy thanks so much for the reassurance, lovely, I really appreciate it. The sickness is truly awful (though a good sign!) and I really sympathise. Do you ever get better days? I have some days when I feel mostly ok which helps. I find work a big struggle and have been working from home at least 1 day a week.

MummyBeth I had terrible dreams about losing the baby, but only on one night (I think that's why I freaked out so much when I had the brown stuff a couple of days later - I thought I'd had a premonition.) I'm so sorry you're having these, it's so upsetting, is there anyone you can talk to? Maybe if you talk about your fears in the day they won't come out in your dreams?

Hurray futuremum great to hear about your scan.

And hi to Daynee (and anyone else I haven't greeted! busylady for instance!).

Lovely lovely
Right, back to work

babybunting2010 · 17/03/2010 15:20

Hi All,

Sorry haven't been on since Friday had 2 days in bed.... Feel sooo much more human now! I am telling you it's amazing what a good duvet day does for you.

Hope everyone is well. I have my dating scan on Friday so I am really nervous and excited! Hope everything has gone ok! can't wait to see something on the screen!

So... does anyone have a name for their fetus? I can't think of anything at the moment, plus my sisters used up most of the ones i've heard of. Things like bean!! Just wondered!

How is everyone feeling today? I am surprisingly alright, no sickness today. Trying not to think of it as something that has gone wrong!!!!

Anyways just wanted to say hey!!!

MummyBeth · 17/03/2010 15:53

Hi DillyDora, I'm glad I'm not alone. I talk to my poor hubby who hasn't heard anything except pregnancy babble since we found out. I'm just hoping that once I have a scan and find out that everything is fine I can relax and start to be pregnant.

Does anyone else feel like the first 3 months are hard cause you have to pretend you're not pregnant all the time. I'm running out of excuses for not drinking/ wearing my jeans or refusing to go to the restaurant.

I feel horrible today! Had a little cry about lunch time cause I just wanted to go to bed!

I seem to have reverse morning sickness - I am fine when I get up but it kicks in around lunch time and ets progressively worse. Usually put to bed around 8 with a bucket by my lovely husband.

MummyBeth · 17/03/2010 15:55

Oh and Babybunting I call mine 'wee bean' or 'the baba'.
not very original but I don't like calling him 'it'.

DillyDora · 17/03/2010 16:03

Mummybeth I have the same ms pattern as you, though for a while there we did go for 24/7 ms which involved a lot of eating crackers in the middle of the night like a crazy person. Can you take a day off? You sound a bit overwhelmed, especially if you're not talking to anyone much (sorry, don't mean to sound patronising).

We call the sproggle 'the bean' (er..or sproggle) and have done since we met - about 2 yrs before she was conceived not original, I know but it's stuck now.

The first 3 months pretty much suck as far as I can see, and I have told a few people but my nerves are shot to bits! At least I've got the scan on Friday though I'm terrified about that...

babybunting oooh, I envy you your days in bed! I'm not v sick today either which is lovely, it'll be back tomorrow...!

DillyDora · 17/03/2010 16:57

Hey - does anyone else have a really yukky taste in their mouth? Not metallic, just ugh, and sort of gakky and clogged up as if I need to brush my teeth all the time or drink something really astringent (grapefruit juice goes down well!)

Daynee · 17/03/2010 17:29

Hi Dilly and ladies! I've been awfully tired today...like I'm actually walking so slow I must look like I'm 80, and my students are like, "Ms. V, are you sick?"

Please tell me I'm not being a wimp because really, I'm quite the tough girl...But all I want to do is sleep and relax! I'm cutting out of work early today and missing our teacher meeting. I'm nauseous and about to fall asleep!!!! It's times like these when I wish I didn't have a job!!!

MummyBeth · 17/03/2010 18:00

You know DillyDora I totally need a day off. Unfortunately I work as a childminder and can't let the parents down. Luckily the hubby has organised a lovely hotel in the Lake District for next weekend and I totally intend on doing a whole lot of nothing. I'd also been doing a course on a Wednesday nights but have pulled out as it was just too much.

Daynee - I'm the same I've always been a real hardy type, never get sick always doing loads and still lots of energy left over but I'm being really rubbish this week.

Just sent hubby for a McD's for my dinner - this baby has some crazy eating habits...

dappymoo · 17/03/2010 18:13

Sorry that was a very brief update yesterday I was a bit busy with phone calls!
The scan was brill! And before I could even ask about a heartbeat it did about a million back flips and jumped about! (I knew that flab would come in handy...)

So... phew! And feel much more open about it now with people....

I'm actually only just under 12 weeks so due 2nd October. So i'm on the right thread after all yay! And I can go ahead with my August wedding although it still fills me with dread!

Fingers crossed for the next scan now...!! x

Aaah my God I really want a Magnum... Just thought I'd share that with you all. I've been really fancying stuff at really weird times. DH had to actually counsel me against taking 800g box of Cheerios into work to eat dry. I love them. I want to eat them at all times. And now Muggle has mentioned sherbet lemons, I want some of those too
Can't wait for the Easter break, got 2 weeks block leave to take whilst we move house and get our lives back together again. Final exams will be all over a week tomorrow and I can't wait, although I'm convinced I don't know enough for the oral board.... Still, at least it's stopping me from worrying excessively about Gucci (baby's temporary name; long story) and the 12 week scan is next Monday, so that's come around really fast... It'll be so exciting to see the little heartbeat...
Has anyone got any real gut feelings about the sex of their baby? Apparently a large appetite is supposed to mean you're having a boy
xxx

Katy86 · 18/03/2010 08:20

hi Jazzie i had a such a strong gut feeling i was haing a boy last time that i bought boys clothes (very silly of me) and then had a little girl haha so much for mothers instinct eh?! this time round i think it might be a boy just because the pregnancy is sooooo different to last time. Dont think u can really ever know u have a 50/50 chance of getting it right so think its just a guessing game lol hope all is well anyway

babybunting2010 · 18/03/2010 09:05

Morning all,

Well I am 10 weeks today and have my scan tomorrow. Am really really nervous though! You hear so many horror stories of having the scans and to be honest the past 2 days I have not really been feeling.... pregnant. Sickness calmed down, boobs not too sore... think I am panicking about nothing but hey!

Dappymoo, so glad it all went well for you and sounds like an experience to see the little bean having a boogie in your belly! Cograts!

So how is everyone feeling today??? xxx

ellabella2 · 18/03/2010 10:48

Oh dear I haven't been on here for ages and so much has happened for everyone and so many new people on here too

dilly Loads of luck for your scan on Friday. I'm sure everything will be fine. I had a similar scare over the weekend. I was at a wedding and went to the loo and realised I had had a pretty big 'gush' of dark red blood. I was so scared I grabbed my DP and said we needed to leave immediately. The midwife service were brilliant and I went in for an emergency scan the next morning (Sunday!!). The buba is absolutely fine and they could find no reason for the bleeding. They said it can be implantation blood that has hung around for ages and decides to come out. As long as there are no large clots they are not really worried! Anything dark brown is old blood anyway apparently.

As everything was fine they said the scan would count as my dating scan and buba measured 4.2cm so they reckon I am now 11+4. I must have a long baby as I know it is only 10+4 as having had fertility treatment we are very definite about our dates . Anyway we saw the little heartbeat and it nodded its head and waved it's arms and legs around to say hello .

Good luck to everyone who's scans are coming up soon xx

Hopefully the nasty symptoms will be on the way out soon too for most of us as people get towards the end of this scary, worrying, exhausting and green 1st trimester.

nomorewine and Katy1986 I am with you on the little belly. Mine is definitely growing and I've noticed in the last few days that my belly button is starting to stretch out and get shallower .

Anyway, sorry for the long post and not being able to even make a start on 'answering' everyones posts.

Lots of love Ellabella x

anythingwithagiraffeonit · 18/03/2010 13:18

Hi everyone...

Reading about everyones scans is so exciting... I can't wait, but i'm having mine late it seems, not for two and half more weeks!I don't know how i'll stand it!

Stupid morning sickness is still awful, and I want to eat absolutely nothing.. the slightest glimpse of food makes me heave

And as for the 'bean'.. we call it 'our little baby giraffe'... its a long story :p

xx xx xx

DillyDora · 18/03/2010 14:24

Hi All,

Thanks ellabella for the reassurance (scary story though! Glad it was all ok!) YEah the GP suggested it was implantation bleeding that was 'taking it's time to make its way down' much like the bus, I would imagine ;0)

Yes - I though my belly button looked different this morning and thought I must have imagined it! But maybe not!

Muggle thanks for the sherbert lemons idea - I used to eat Extra Strong mints but guess what.... I've gone off them... (as well as coffee, but tea is back and I think chocolate may be on its way back...)

Mummybeth my appetite for junk food is .... unstoppable... I was never like this before!

Ugh- just took a sip of tea and...maybe not...
Right, me being me I have to ...run! Yes of course! So, more soon and I will let you know about the scan just as soon as I can. Thanks for all your support, it means the world to me.

piesey · 18/03/2010 16:02

Hello hope everyone is ok today.

I got my booking appt and scan date thorugh - end of March for the Midwife and the scan is the 19th April - it's so far away! I'm going to go mad in that time.

Not getting another early scan - the doctor said I should just keep and eye on the spotting and see what happens but that just means I'm going to be a big ball of worry for the next four weeks.

Feel really sick and tired today. Nothing helps, nothing tastes right. I love tea but can't stand to have it anywhere near me at the moment. It's miserable!

Dilly - good luck for your scan tomorrow!

ellabella that is a scary story but thank goodness you and the baby are ok.
