I'm on a fab thread on the ttc section but am now 7 wks preg .

I know it's early days but I wondered if there was a thread on here for the older pregnant woman who might be experiencing all the same things as me.

God, I hope I'm not tempting fate by coming over from the ttc side!!!!!

Hello Ladies,

lee69 · 07/05/2010 10:38

Morning to all,I have my first doc appt today, and Im hoping that this might bring my hubby round to my way of thinking, let nature take its course, after all this will be the last chance(he will be due to be neutered!!
I never thought I could be pregg at my age and after struggling with a horrible reaction with the Depo injection which really mucked me up for 15 months this is such a suprise....Im excited but worried at my age I carry all the risks of mc, or health problems for baby and all I want to do is Whoop with joy!!,
so fingers and toes crossed with the doc today hope he wont give me a disapproving look...as if to say "AT YOUR AGE"
will let you know how it goes nice to know there are a few of us out here x

Welcome fakeblondie ,pernickety, seasister ,lee and london! I'm feeling yuk today, don't ever seem to sleep enough and dc2 is 4 tomorrow so I've got to bake a cake and tidy up a bit. 31weeks so only 9 to go!

Kazkabs · 07/05/2010 16:53

Hello, i am positively ancient I think. 44 and pg with number 1. delighted and terrified!

MamaBubs · 07/05/2010 21:38

This is scary for me - totally unplanned thinking I was never able to have children and here I am, 43, expecting my first. Could be either 8 weeks or 12, but won't find out until 19th May when I have a date scan. Feeling so wiped out. I want to be elated, but am terrified as am so desperate to keep this baby. Hubby scared too and is walking on eggshells around me as I have been the bitch from hell today and I don't know why?

lee69 · 09/05/2010 11:03

LooL00 · 09/05/2010 11:12

Hello everyone Hello kazbabs and mamababs. Don't worry mamababs, as you can see there are lots of us over 40's about, the crabbiness isn't permanent and I didn't have my first til I was 38 and now I'm expecting dc3. Why don't you ring the hosp and see if they can do your dating scan sooner as if it is 12 weeks already you could relax a bit. They might have a cancellation.

MamaBubs · 09/05/2010 20:13

Thank you Lee69 and LooL00 for your reassurances. Have felt a little better moodwise these last two days, but am totally wiped out!!! Absolutely exhausted!! And Lee69, I know what you mean about tastes changing - I polished off two baconburgers and large fries today (which I wouldn't normally touch) but nearly threw up when my DH cooked up tuna steaks just now! So weird!

Thanks for your advice LooL00 re the scan. I'm actually going to ring up a private clinic tomorrow to see if I can get in this week. Knowing at what stage of the pregancy I'm in will I hope put my mind at rest and be worth every penny.

Thanks again, and will let you know xx

Londonsmiles · 09/05/2010 21:50

Hello Ladies,

Question for you. I am very newly pregnant - 4w3d. I'm having lots of twinges and some period like pains - no bleeding or anything and did a second digital test (should have boughts shares in clearblue lol) and it has moved from 1-2 weeks to 2-3 weeks.

Has anyone else had these cramps and twinges - are they normal?

I feel a bit silly with the question - like at 40 I should have the answers but it's amazing how little we (or maybe just me) know about our bodies or pregnancy until we find ourselves pregnant.

Cheers, LondonSMiles

Persnickety · 10/05/2010 08:37

Ondonsmiles, I think the crampy feelings at 4 +3 are likely to be implantation. Some people get a little bit bleeding too. I've never had bleeding (current pregnancy is number 3), but I did fefinitely get the cramps of implantation this time.

And I imagine as it implants the hormones increase, hence the increase in weeks on the stick.

I'm not doctore by the way, but it all sounds good to me.

Persnickety · 10/05/2010 08:38

Oops, Londonsmiles. Sorry.

Dexter32 · 10/05/2010 14:15

Have just started telling people (including almost 17 year old DD) - am 19 weeks tomorrow. Really excited about 20 week scan booked for next week (my DD is coming with me). It has taken a long while for me to be able to look forward to having this baby but am slowly getting my head around it. Really lovely to read that others are going similar emotions to mine.

LooL00 · 10/05/2010 14:28

Great that you're feeling so positive Dexter and good luck with the scan.

ande · 11/05/2010 12:13

Hello all. Sorry for not posting for so long, no excuse as I seem to spend a huge amount of time on MN!

Am 37+1 today! Bump is head down and 3/5 engaged! Inspite of my last being OD my mw is convinced we will get this one out without induction. Clearly she has the gift of being able to see in to the future, or perhaps just trying to keep me upbeat!

Incidentally Dexter32 it took me till my 20 week scan to come to terms with this pregnancy aswell!

Hope everybody ok. This thread has been pretty bloomin quiet on the whole!

frankenfanny · 12/05/2010 12:47

Well pg brain so bad cannot remember if I was on this thread but def due back for some moral support from older mums.

Sorry been a while, haven't been on MN as getting afternoon sickness then staggering through the evenings with the kids before flopping into an early bed. Had a massive row with DH as well. Oh,the joys of pregnancy, as well as nasty constipation and constant anxiety there is actually a LO in there.

I am just so worried about this pg, in a way that I wasn't with the others, and I know it is down to my age. I have a scan booked for the end of this month and I can't wait! I still haven't told anyone (am 8 weeks) but luckily? my belly is huge anyway so don't look any more pg than usual.

good vibes to all the anxious mums-to-be out there!

stardustsmile · 12/05/2010 13:07

Hello all, I have not kept my progress update but I'm now 31 weeks, I just feel totally exhausted. I'm 41 and this is my 3rd. I still work 3days a week and driving to work takes me 45min each way. I have DD9 and DS7 so maybe it's not bad as they are not toddlers, but still they have lots of stuff going, e.g. after school activities, so no rest for me when I get to home after work. I feel so tired this time around, put on too much weight,my legs feeling so heavy.

Good luck to everyone xx

I am 40 and expecting no 2 in 6 weeks, my first will be 13- wee surprise for me and my DH who had been trough IVF in his last relationship- apparently poor sperm, well at least one of them could swim.
I am excited but feel a lot older, but am in a happier place in this pregnancy and relationship and may even think about no3 before too long . Congrats to all you ladies too, exciting times ahead!

MamaBubs · 12/05/2010 21:03

Thank you Frankenfanny for adding me to your list. When I know my due date I will let you know.

Am feeling more positive and will now wait until the date scan on the 19th. I've suddenly got a passion for junk food - which I've always kept away from before. Not sure if thats accounting for the little bump that has appeared and me having to undo several buttons on my jeans and trousers now!!

Still getting tired but not as bad as I was last week - but also incredibly horny!! OMG - can't keep my hands off my DH!! Is that normal??

Stay well all xx

LooL00 · 13/05/2010 11:11

Thanks for that list Frankenfanny, must have taken you a while. There's LOADS of us!

lilysmemo · 13/05/2010 11:12

Ah lucky you mamabubs- all horniness has left the building here - well mine at least , my lovely OH's urges are tolerated at best , poor man

frankenfanny · 13/05/2010 12:54

No horniness here, but it is quite normal! My last 3 I was constantly pestering the OH from 2nd trimester until the last few weeks. This time I just feel too sick.

It is good to have the list because it is encouraging to see how many "geriatric" mums there are about getting on with having babies quite successfully. I was at a school visit recently and was really surprised there were hardly any twentysomething mums there. So I won't feel like a granny at the school gates, like my gran did when she had her youngest at 39.

Kazkabs · 13/05/2010 16:20

thanks for the list Frankenfanny, good to see them all lined up. I am due 26 October. had the amnio today so now on tenterhooks until next week.......

LooL00 · 14/05/2010 11:18

saw the mw this morning and she said I'm ok for a homebirth if that's what I want. So now I need to decide if it is what i want. Picked up another half litre of gaviscon advance which will last me about 5 days.

This thread is too quiet. or maybe there are too many of us (which is great, anymore out there?) for a good chat.
