I'm on a fab thread on the ttc section but am now 7 wks preg .

I know it's early days but I wondered if there was a thread on here for the older pregnant woman who might be experiencing all the same things as me.

God, I hope I'm not tempting fate by coming over from the ttc side!!!!!

So sorry Lindalinda, i hope you're coping ok and that we hear from you again soon.

Hope you sicky ones are feeling ok, drink lots of water and eat high protein snacks and keep in mind that you might feel better by week13.Do you find that certain noises make you feel sick?

My dc1 has recovered from chickenpox and I'm now waiting for dc2 to get it,sooner the better as I have a physio appt in 2 weeks and can't take her with me if she's spotty.I will not miss the physio appt for anything as my spd is getting slowly worse while the phys has been on holiday.

Hello Heidi and Dueling!

KiwiKat · 14/04/2010 21:42

Evening all, had my first scan today, and there was a heartbeat - I was so nervous there wouldn't be one, but there is, so yay!

Sorry to hear the spd is being such a pain, Looloo.

How's everyone else doing?

lisalisa · 14/04/2010 23:14

Hi I'd like to join in too. I am 42 and this is my sixth child although I'm only about 6 weeks pregnant so very early days yet.

I will also be having my sixth section and very nervous

Excellent news Kiwi. Hi everyone!

pinguina · 15/04/2010 13:24

Had my 20 week scan and all well - phew!
I feel huge though scales indicate I shouldn't feel quite as big, but constantly breathless and uncomfortable and a bit achey. Have reconsidered the au pair option and instead thinking of hiring a maternity nurse to help out - would they help with DD1 too? Any tips/advice/info?

DuelingFanjo · 15/04/2010 15:26

Congratulations Kiwi

I am feeling positive but also worrying about my scan (in 2 weeks) as it was around that point I was told I had a missed miscarriage last time.

Still no symptoms apart from itchy big boobs. I do have a blocked nose though and have had for the last 4 days. it's not developed into a full blown cold so I'm wondering if I can count it as a symptom?

sallyjaygorce · 15/04/2010 15:30

I will be 40 in the summer and keep wondering whether to have number 4 - if we are lucky enough. Will keep an eye on you lot.

LooL00 · 16/04/2010 09:35

Great news Pinguina. Sorry I can't offer any advice on the maternity nurse thing except that my mum landed up cooking meals for hers when she had me! But that was 43 years ago.I've always been worried about the personal space issue and know if i had one booked I'd be cleaning the cutlery drawer right now.Hope you can relax a bit over the next 2 weeks dueling I never had pg symptoms until about 6 weeks and then feeling really cold was one of them . And sudden aversions to odd foods.

DuelingFanjo · 16/04/2010 13:44

thanks LooL00.
I had a panic today as a clearblue test showed me as being 2-3 weeks when the last said I was 3+! Managed to get a blood test done at the hospital and they say my hCG is 6450 (or 6540 - can't remember) which is good for almost 6 weeks. PHEW.

Am annoyed for allowing ,yself to get in a panic but I know it's because of my previous miscarriage and that until I see a baby on a scan I won't be satisfied.

still no symptoms and my boobs hurt less than they did the last few days, hence the reason I did another test. DOH! I'm not normally the kind of person to re-test repeatedy!

frankenfanny · 17/04/2010 16:12

Hello everyone

I haven't been to a GP yet but have a positive test, hoping I can join you as 40 this year and likely to get a lot of older mother worries once things get all medical.

Have 3 DC's already this will be my last. Due 14/12 I think though going by past experience might be a lot later.

Fingers xx this all goes well. Feeling lightheaded, weepy and nauseous all the time but thats it for now.

KiwiKat · 18/04/2010 10:05

Welcome lisalisa, sallyjay and frankenfanny - love the name. Please don't worry, Dueling. But I know you'll feel a lot better after that scan.

DuelingFanjo · 18/04/2010 10:23

Thanks Kiwi. I am worrying a lot because I just have no symptoms at all. My boobs don't hurt anymore. I have a stinking cold and wake up every day feeling really dehydrated even though I drink loads of water. I wish I could have another blood test to show my hCG levels have doubled but I know I will just have to wait for the scan.

LooL00 · 19/04/2010 09:09

Hi everyone. Dueling you really need to drink lots of water, I was drinking 2 litres a day at one point in midwinter and as the weather is warming up you'll need more.Try not to worry, this is one thing you can do nothing about.

DuelingFanjo · 19/04/2010 10:25

thanks LooL00 I am drinking about 3 litres of water a day and am feeling a lot better since I had the blood test. Still the occassional worry (boobs not sore etc) but am going to try to remain positive. Mind you - I am now getting up 2 - 3 times a night for a pee which is a good sign I think

LooL00 · 20/04/2010 11:27

Oh Duelling be careful what you wish for, you'll be hoping for constipation and stretch marks next. Remember some women actually feel ok during early pg and blossom in the 2nd trim.(I'm not one of them).

Kathsunn · 21/04/2010 10:00

Hello, everyone. Just tested positive. EDD 26Dec. I'm 40yo, 2dc, this will be no.3. We had decided 2 was enough, but changed my mind at the last moment.

Very excited, but a bit worried about the age thing. I keep telling myself it's all media scare stories.

Haven't read the whole thread, but hope your all well!

LooL00 · 24/04/2010 10:27

hello Kathsunn!

Just bumping to see how Dueling is getting on.Hope you're not worrying too much.

KiwiKat · 24/04/2010 12:34

Congratulations Kathsunn! Dueling, what news? I'm not feeling as sick, or have such tender boobs as I had before either, but I'm very snappy at the moment. First midwife appt next Friday, when I'll be 9.5. How's everyone else?

pinguina · 24/04/2010 13:33

Entering week 23 and feeling great, if big - lifting DD1 is becoming harder and harder, and wonder how I'll manage in a couple of months from now... Should probably give up chocolate!

alinjosh · 24/04/2010 20:12

KiwiKat · 24/04/2010 21:54

welcome Ali, and congratulations! Don't give up chocolate, Pinguina. That would be wrong.

LooL00 · 28/04/2010 09:50

Hi everyone, 30 weeks today or tomorrow, only 10 weeks to go! I'm feeling fine except I have spd and have resigned myself to doing nothing until July. I'm thinking of going for a home birth but maybe I'll change my mind at the last minute. I'm a bit worried about what to do with the dc if I give birth during the day, it seems a bit mean to send them round to someone else's house, but I don't want to sort out their squabbling in between contractions and I want ALL of DH's attention for me.
Hope everyone is feeling OK for whatever stage they're at.

KiwiKat · 02/05/2010 18:20

Had my first midwife appt this week, and she said that as this pregnancy was a result of IVF, it would be consultancy-led. Plus I developed cholestasis last time, which meant ds was an emergency caesarian after a failed induction, so I am high risk for that as well - not to mention my advanced age! But what the hey - I'm just so pleased to be having a baby, I don't care how we get from A to B, as long as we're both healthy at the end.

How's everyone else doing?
