cadmum - please try to relax and get some rest. if you don't have faith and trust in your doctor then it's probalby best that you change to a differnt one, after all this is an important time in your health care.

Cadmum · 17/07/2005 15:04

Thanks munz. Intellectually, I understand what you are saying but it is hard to put it into practice. I have only lived here for 5 1/2 months and I am really unfamiliar with the health care system (I grew up in Canada but in a dif. province and my first 2 children were born in a third province so that doesn't help either...). I DO know that it is very hard to even find a GP with vacancies at all and if I believe him then there is a shortage of midwives and ObGyns as well.

A friend of mine moved here last autumn 7 1/2 months pregnant with her 5th and she had to fight to get to see anyone at all... I feel ashamed admitting that the health care in this city is not what it should be...

I will try to relax though...

munz · 17/07/2005 15:14

gosh sorry hon I didn't realise it was as complicated as all of that, over here you can swop dr's within a pratice/ change pratices no problems as long as the books are still open, and then normally you see the same consultant in the hosp regardless (unless you move out of the catchment area of course)

fingers crossed it won't be long till the move to NY and hopefully they have better health care there.

Cadmum · 17/07/2005 15:59

Thanks again munz! I do appreciate your support. I am just an insane pregnant mother after all.

I just moved back to Canada after 4 1/2 years in London so I am having a good laugh at my complaints about the NHS... I couldn't have imagined how different things could be here. Ah well, the grass is always greener, right?

How are you feeling today?

munz · 17/07/2005 16:33

not bad thanks, (almost 'normal' what ever normal is!) lol. yes I supose we do all moan about the NHS but on the whole they're not that bad if you get in a good area.

Cadmum · 17/07/2005 21:40

Glad you are feeling 'normal'. I am feeling kind of icky so that is all good...

yingers74 · 17/07/2005 23:14

Cadmum - hope you have sweeter dreams tonight and like others say, try not to worry.

Was just moaning about NHS on a MN thread about 5 mins ago!!!

Cadmum · 18/07/2005 00:21

Thank you, Yingers. I am just officially a worry-wort, I guess.
I have not been brave enough to mention that I was dreaming that our friends' new-born died. It was so horrible; I woke up sobbing and had to remind myself that it was only a dream.

What were you saying about the NHS?

george32 · 18/07/2005 08:43

Oh Wendy, I'm so sorry. I've been away all weekend so only just caught up with your news.
You & your DH must be going through a terrible time with this awful waiting. I was so hoping that you would have a good scan on Friday.
I hope your little one keeps up the fight.

Just popping in again to send positive vibes to Wendy, am thinking of you a lot at the moment and willing you good news on Friday.
{{{{{{{HUGS}}}}}} Stay strong xxx

munz · 18/07/2005 19:37

oh yingers go on what's the NHS gos? I hear the materniity wards are terrible - our local hopsital will only deal with the PG woman who have 'straight' forward births and don't need any operations/ ICU (is it they call it the special unit) for those u have to go 100 miles to cardiff it's 2.5 hr drive.

cadmum - how's ur dreams?

bella - (((((hugs))))))) huge hugs for u honney I saw on the TTC thread u were v down at the minute, ((((((hugs))))))))) there's not really anything any one can say/do to make things right and better for you, but just so u know we're all willing you on on here and hoping you'll be joining us soon. keep you're pecker up hon, and just ignore silly ppl who ask if you've decided not to have children, I know it's v v hard, but I guess not everyone's born with being able to be tactful. (((((((hugs))))))))) try not to let things get on top of you.

yingers74 · 18/07/2005 22:39

evening all. was just moaning about the fact my maternity hospital is short on staff hence went from one to one midwife care with my first to no named midwife this time round. In fact apart from scans, appointments have been deferred to my gp who of course will not be there when I go to labour! Am concerned but ok about it as at least this is not my first time. However, if i get even slightly worried during labour, i will demand a doctor as I can't have faith in a midwife I don't know and who knows nothing of my history.

On lighter note, hope everyone is good. My bump is kicking me all the time and this weather is making me really cranky.

munz · 19/07/2005 08:37

quick question girls, how far along were u all b4 u started to put weight on cos at 6+4 i've not even put a pound on not an ounce and am most distressed about it so just curious really after the bump showing thread. was hoping for at least a bit of water retention but so far nada!

jessicaandbumpsmummy · 19/07/2005 08:39

stop panicing woman! DONT WEIGH YOURSELF!

With jess, i didnt start properly showing til 4.5 months.... 6 weeks is still VERY early, and you wont hve put any weight on - its no bigger than a grain of rice!

munz · 19/07/2005 08:51

that's what DH keeps telling me but I do worry cos all my clothes still fit and they're not even tight (not that i'm moaning about that!)

jessicaandbumpsmummy · 19/07/2005 08:52

i was still in my pre-preg jeans when i went into hospital to have jess, even if the did sit under-the-bump!

only bought one item of maternity clothing when i had jess - completely different ball game this time, but everything is a lot more "relaxed" this time unfortunately!

Frizbe · 19/07/2005 09:49

jessicaandbumpsmummy, don't take this personally but I'm of you, I put on 3 stone with dd, all in the last 4 mths, grrrrrrr, no stretchmarks until month 8, then it went crazy, sob, sob, sob....took a good 9 mths to get it all back off again, and what really annoyed me is that I didn't eat any more than normal!

{{Hugs}} to Wendy, hope your feeling ok, hoping all ok for friday.

novadandypowder · 19/07/2005 11:38

Munz i hadn't put on a single pound when i was weighed at my 20wk appointment, so don't panic - enjoy! The weight will come soon enough (6 pounds from wk 20 - wk 24)

Cadmum · 19/07/2005 14:53

Munz: Barely have time to reply to your concern but here goes: Every pg is different! With my DD I lost 15 lbs by the time I was 18 weeks! I am certain that I have never gained an ounce in the entire first trimester and that is not from a lack of effort!

george32 · 19/07/2005 14:58

Munz, can't believe you are worried about not putting weight on!!!

I've been stressing because my book says you will only put on a couple of pounds in the first trimester - oops!! Nearly done my whole p/g weight and I'm only 17 weeks!!

Nemo1977 · 19/07/2005 15:01

munz same as cadmum with my ds i lost weight and was stone lighter so by time i had him i had but the stone back on so was actually no heavier. This time my weight hasnt changed and im 18wks so pleaseeeeeee dont stress hun

Bella hugs to u hun i think u r on for this month hun seeing as u have been working hard

OP posts:
Frizbe · 19/07/2005 18:16
