Am 36 weeks pregnant. I can't sleep. Baby movements when she goes are massive and painful but then she will be silent for ages making me wish for the movement. Can't get comfy sitting or lying down. Have no motivation to do anything (am supposed to be working from home at mo). Having lots of braxton hicks but know I probably still have at least another four weeks of this and every day it gets just a bit worse! I know this is all part of natures master plan to make labour seem like a relief but grrrrrrrrr! Phew that felt better to whinge (despite me knowing I also have a lot to be thankful for- this baby is alive and kicking (previous mmc), have not put weight on anywhere other than bump in fact lost weight everywhere else!, have not had piles, carpal tunnel, restless legs, swollen ankles or anything so prob by most standards this is a straightforward pregnancy (apart from the stopping breathing in night thingy and reduced foetal movement dramas!)

Please post your grumps here and enjoy ordering cyberrly all the things you shouldn't eat (mine is a baked in box Camembert and large glass of rose cava thanks!). Of course the added advantage of starting this thread is that of you are all feeling much worse than me, then I shall feel very nesh and maybe pull myself together instead of being a great big grumpy pants!

esselle You are so lucky! We have had a tiny bit more snow today and everyone just stops!!

Good luck with the house move. We moved house when I was 17 weeks pg. I got frustrated because I had to do things (limited help from family) and was knackered. If you can just sit down somewhere and order people around

I was having very mild pains yesterday that went last night. They are back today and are stronger - Im just not convinced its labour though.

I have my swine flu jab today - Better late then never at nearly 38 weeks!!

Thandeka Spend as long as you can on all fours with your bum in the air, you never know it might move. My friend recently gave birth and her baby was back to back although they didnt realise until she was too far. My advice, maybe ask for an epidural as soon as you get to hospital just so they are ready for you incase you want it.

LuckyC · 13/01/2010 15:43

Boiler has been broken for a week. House is freezing and damp. More snow. Nothing dries. Back door frozen closed this morning. Can't sleep. Arm is numb, or painful, alternately. DH has chosen now to have one of his mysterious and recurrent episodes of bloody housework blindness. Work is looking sketchy.

And, like an idiot, I weighed myself this morning.

Would a week clubbing in Buenos Aires be out of the question? If so, I will take some filthily potent Stilton and a bottle two bottles of red.

tah2 · 13/01/2010 15:44

Hi everyone! just thought i'd add my whinge into the mix.
I am 9+3 wks pregnant and getting annoyed at waiting for my first appointment. I had one booked for last week but it got cancelled due to the snow. We hav had loads more snow last night and am fairly certain my appointment for tomorrow will also be cancelled. Im probably just being impatient, but i had a mc in aug and just want someone to reassure me things are going well!
Arghhh, thats much better!

mama2moo · 13/01/2010 15:53

I WANT A HOLIDAY.

DorindaG · 13/01/2010 23:57

Well, I'm 36+5 now with my first - a boy.
My back aches, and when I get up from sitting or laying down I feel like there's a sack of potatoes pushing down on my pelvis.

Heartburn rages, so at night that and the need to pee mean I'm up about every two hours. Can't get comfy without a small cushion so DP feels a bit pushed out of the bed! Bless him, he's been great though; cooking and fetching and passing while I lay beached on the sofa!

One moment I'm wishing to meet my little boy, and the next I'm thinking I'll never be ready and he can just stay in there infinitum!

Been fancying a giant cheese board for days (my stomach is a bit dodgy with dairy at the moment which makes craving more intense), and last night would have killed for 2 or 3 pints of good real ale, and a puff or two on a cigarette. I'd probably hate it if I smoked at all now.
It's like curry; I fancy it for how it used to taste and when I get some I think 'eugh'!

DorindaG · 14/01/2010 00:00

Mine is 3/5 engaged and spine to spine on last visit to MW. She says lean forward on a chair or get on all fours for a bit, but it's so bloody uncomfortable doing that. And, the conflicting advice is to sit with your feet propped up if you've got numbness and swelling in your ankles and knees, as I've started to get.
So I just don't know what position to get into!

38weeks - and nothing!

FatSeal · 14/01/2010 20:42

Fab thread :-)

Only just stopped feeling sick all the time (26wks) and it still strikes back when I least expect it.

Wake myself up all night turning over.

Just missed out on a spa weekend as was too nervous about cars skidding off road into snow to go. Apparently it was really good, and the photos looked so relaxing...

Bub keeps punching my bladder nerves making me think I'm going to pee myself, or apparently pushing all four limbs out into the star position, ouch.

Long way to go yet, it's only going to get worse arg!

Thanks!

Mine's a big plate of vignotte cheese and oatcakes, and big glass of champagne mmmmm

sazlocks · 14/01/2010 20:51

Good thread idea.

I bloody love being pregnant however at 38 + 4 I feel entitled to have a couple of gripes

It would be nice to be able to put the washing away without gagging at the smell of the washing powder

It would be nice to be able to turn over in bed without feeling like a giant weeble

It would be nice if the baby would stop with the bladder punching and cervix bouncing

I wish I could stop feeling so guilty that my 23 month old is losing out a little while I am scared to go out too much on the ice roads that surround our house

While on the subject of food - when I have had the baby mine will be a large wedge of brie followed by a box of sushi - yum. When I have stopped breastfeeding I would like an expensive bottle of rioja all to myself

flyingma · 14/01/2010 22:44

Yipes like someone else here pointed out, I've taken a lot of the advice with a pinch of salt - either that or googled to check that somewhere else in the world, someone said that it was ok to eat x.

Had a craving for peanut butter from the start and have already gotten through 2 tubs of. Had a few drinks here and there, raw-ish (like em pink, not bleeding) steaks, seafood (craving prawns and had prawn curry tonight for the mandatory past-my-due-date desperate attempt to get labour starting by trying out all the old wives' tales) and even cured meats (cooked hams, cold hams, salami, serrano, iberico). First time I ever made hollandaise sauce was when I was around 2-3 weeks PG so figured out heck, I am going to eat what I want within reason. I will come back crying onto MN when bub eventually shows up with 2 heads or something. Could murder a whole tiramisu myself tho, I already have the ingreds ready to go.

My moan is not being able to do anything for myself - can't put socks or boots on, or trying to fix the screws on the bottom shelf without then feeling like I am going to pass out. DH is happy to do it for me but it drives me up the wall having to ask someone to do everything for you.

That, aside from the carpal tunnel (second casualty today - a glass tumbler going the way of the Pyrex jug) and I spent the whole week (40+3 today) trying to get bubs to engage and now that he/she is 2/5ths in, I am so uncomfortable I could cry. Stabby pains in fanjo too obviously needs to engage more but each day I wake up thinking it cannot possibly get any more uncomfy and it does!

Like the idea of a pink / blue egg - where do I go to vote for that?

Thandeka · 15/01/2010 09:29

Oooh tiramasu thats today's order for me! Yummy!

I am also fed up of the giant weebl in bed thing- I want to hire a hoist to turn me over especially since I have to turn over every 15 mins!

Oh and last night I couldnt sleep because the baby wasnt moving and she usually does a fair bit at night. Of course after I had a drink she started moving again and then I couldn't sleep because she was moving- you can't bloody win!

Oh and is anyone else doing the "is it wee or are my waters leaking" every five mins? Because seriously if I ever have to sniff a sanitary towel again after this I am going to kill someone!

OP posts:
mama2moo · 15/01/2010 09:43

Thandeka A hoist is a great idea! I hate having to think about moving over in bed.

When I had dd I knew it was my waters. Every time I moved more leaked out. Isnt it great!!

Im actually not sure I want this baby out yet though - 38 weeks today and dd has started sleeping until 8.30am!!

sockmonkey · 15/01/2010 09:47

Am I allowed another moan?
DH has a nasty chest infection, which means he is absolutely no help to me at all... infact he is causing me more work! He can't move without having a major coughing fit. I am having to run around after him and the boys when all I want to do is be pampered.
Everyone keeps saying how well I'm coping... I don't want to be coping well, I want to be sat on my lazy bum being fed grapes!

And relax.

weliveonpastaandtoast · 15/01/2010 10:16

Oh, great thread.
Thandeka - you can have baked in a box Camembert though - as long as it has been nuked at high enough temperature all the bacteria are dead.
It is my second pregnancy though (29+1) and I am waaaay more slack than last time about food bans. Plus eating rubbish as toddler has not been sleeping/I seem a hundred times more knackered this time round/and have started feeling sick again after a couple of months off. Plus feel a hundred years older/creakier this time, only two years after the first... And the guilt about being rubbish boring mum (glad i'm not the only one lying on the bed saying 'bring mummy a book and i'll read it to you' as my main 'activity' with DD) Which means I'll get all sad and nostalgic about pregnancy the minute it's over...used to think I might have 3, but NEVER AGAIN.

BusyMissIzzy · 15/01/2010 12:27

Ooh, can I join in? I'm 33 weeks, and the pregnancy has really caught up with me in the past month or so. My back hurts most of the time, my ribs are really sore at the sides when I lie on them (which is really useful for sleeping since I can't/shouldn't sleep on my front/back). The sore rib thing combined with searing heartburn and needing to pee frequently mean I'm awake every hour or so at night. And I'm tiiiiirrrrreeeedd In the evenings I just can't get comfortable; too tired to sit up, but lying down hurts. And I still have 7 weeks to go!

I hope the LOs appreciate what we're going through for them.

Also, last night I complained to DH about the way he'd loaded the dishwasher and his response was that I should just "fix it and tell him later, rather than telling him off". So his 7 months pregnant wife's job is to clean up after him without complaining?

Thandeka · 15/01/2010 20:05

Oh for fucks sake now I am a grump because our house sale just fell through as they want another 27.5k!!! Which means we are stuck in a flat unsuitable for a bub and have to start again on the hunt. Nervous breakdown imminent!

OP posts:
thislittlesisterlola · 15/01/2010 20:33

today would be a large baileys coffee and flake and later on baked camembert. Dp also felt bub move while i was sleeping. I however am suffering with a hellish sinus infection which makes work so much worse and i'll cry if my doc makes me feel a paranoid wreck! Sorry moan over. thandeka sorry to hear about the house. Moving is awful let alone being pg as well

mama2moo · 15/01/2010 20:49

Today I fancy a cider and black, weird as I havent drunk it for years!

Thandeka - Nightmare about your house, have you thought about selling yours with no chain and renting for a while?

I had a dd free afternoon today which was lovely. Dp got in a mood because he had to pick her up from my parents so left work an hour early (my parents are 5 mins down the road) so I had an hour less of 'my time'. What a complete shit. No wonder I hate him.

Thandeka · 15/01/2010 21:01

Ooh cider and black. Yum!

We are chain free we are in rented, first time buyers fab deposit. Vendors are wankers!

OP posts:
mama2moo · 15/01/2010 21:03

No way. We rent as well, I dont think I could do with the hassle of buying although it would be nice to call it our home.

I hope something comes up soon for you.

bellathesouth · 16/01/2010 22:48

My biggest grump is all the people who tell me how much they love being pregnant! What's to love? In my case at 31 weeks so far I have had: heartburn, indigestion, swollen ankles and fingers, severe nasal congestion, daily nosebleeds, carpal tunnel syndrome, back ache, very painful nipples, very sore breasts which have grown to an L cup - try finding soft cup bras for those, thrush, kidney infection, and swine flu jab arm ache. And to top it all off I have been defined as a geriatric mother - no wonder I feel so good about pregnancy! Thanks for the chance to offload. Oh and mine would be brie and red wine - a popular choice I think.

Chynah · 17/01/2010 09:54

Hi Ladies,

I am 27+4 with the most uncomfortable bump ever (God knows what sort of position she's lying in!) my 12 month old son woke me at some ridiculous hour this morning and is now running round like a loon, I have heartburn from hell, want to go for a run desperately and would LOVE to polish off a bottle of pinot grigio to myself!

Thanks - moan over - just needed get that off my chest!

fayzalmoonbeam · 17/01/2010 11:53

Hey everyone

Slight moans from me - I'm 31+4 and my blood pressure has gone comparatively up so mw is twitchy and I'm going to be spending a lot of time next week getting it measured . Also, have heat rash on elbows and feet, very itchy, can't sleep as up peeing every hour and generally knackered.

However, up until now it has all been OK, so I guess I should try to keep smiling!!

dontrunwithscissors · 17/01/2010 13:07

I'm 40 + 6 and fed up with everything and everyone. Hiding away on the computer & can't stop crying. I'd like a really big (alcoholic) drink, please! Either that, or going into bloody labour!

wasabipeanut · 17/01/2010 16:55

Aaaarrrgghhhh can I join in? Thandeka Nice to see you again. I'm so sorry to hear your house sale fell through - that's a major PITA.

Well I am 38 weeks tomorrow and a proper pregnant grump. Last night I reckon I woke about 8 times - each with progressively worse heartburn to the point that I wake with bile in my mouth and have to go puke. So gross. I managed a 90 minute stretch between about 2.30 and 4 but then DS kindly woke me up howling as he had lost his fave toy in the dark.

Have a really sore bump at the top and am HUGE. All I want is a decent night of sleep. And some pate and toast please.
