Congratulations Scarlotti Ioan is a beautiful name and sounds like the birth went ok.
Hopefully Alana will be joining you soon, fingers crossed with her induction today (unless she has already had her little one)

Glad to hear you had a better night Blondie hopefully they will continue but like you i am hoping to sleep more once little one is here.

Sorry to hear you are having the same problems Crunch just be strong

Good to hear from you Syd i cant wait to see the pictures.

Im doing ok, struggling on the sleep and working, as im not finishing until 12 days before due date, think i must be mad, but it means i get more time off paid afterwards, lets hope he's not early

Well we put the cot up last night, so he now has somewhere to sleep, just need to consider packing my hospital bag now. When did everyone else pack the bags?

Big hugs to everyone, new and old

alana39 · 11/11/2009 12:06

Congrats scarlotti. Had another boy this morning managing to go into to labour last night so no induction. 9lb 6 and finally did without epidural but no pool as meconium stained waters. Now feeding away for the 3rd time in 5 hours of life! Proper catch up when home and settled x

YouKnowNothingoftheCrunch · 11/11/2009 12:15

alana! Hurray! I'm so pleased to hear it all happened naturally in the end (all the best babies are born 14 days late ) Another big baby! What have you all been eating?

I have forgotten all the bad things going on here and have a great big smile on my face

Ciara thanks, babies popping out all over the place today has definitely cheered me up

OP posts:
Ciara11 · 11/11/2009 12:39

Congratulations Alana a wonderful boy and a good size as well, its making me feel less worried about the size that my little one is supposed to be

And your right Crunch all these babies do cheer you up, dont they?

Any names yet Alana ? and glad you avoided the induction, so how did you get it started? Was it the sweep or sex??

tetleytea · 11/11/2009 13:21

I'm 9 weeks and i think i'm in the middle of a miscarriage. It's like i'm having a period, but it's getting heavier and heavier as the hours go by. My gyno has just left town for a week and she has told me to go the hospital.

I'm pretty certain it's a miscarriage...I'm cramping a lot .

My problem is this,we live abroad, in southern italy and the hospitals are terrible. I know that they give you a D&C if you miscarry, but i know that in the uk they don't do that so much now. I'm terrified of this preocedure.

please can you advise me? At 9 weeks do i have to have a d&c or is it better to let nature take its course. I feel i've got to prepare myself, hospital staff are famously cold and unfeeling here.

please help

tetleytea · 11/11/2009 13:27

....just realised there's a miscarriage board...of course there is! So will post there.

YouKnowNothingoftheCrunch · 11/11/2009 13:34

tetleytea it's fine to post here too if you want. You can choose to let nature take its course but you might need a scan to confirm that you won't have any complications.

aRe you ok? Do you have anyone with you? xxx

alana great news!! Congratulations Hope the feeding goes well, we're struggling a little with that here but hoping a visit from the midwife today will help.

Chat to you all soon

Rosa333 · 11/11/2009 19:00

Congratulations Scarlotti brilliant news and Ioan is a lovely name.

I hope the feeding is getting better. I saw a breastfeeding counsellor contacted through NCT - I found very helpful.

And also congratulations to Alana too - hooray !!

Two babies in only a few days - fancy that.

Big smiles to everyone

sunburntats · 11/11/2009 19:49

Hi,
Well scan today shows empty sac so looking at mc number 5.

think thats me out now, cant do it any more, cant keep going through this shit.

I just cant do it any more.
Thanks for support.

YouKnowNothingoftheCrunch · 11/11/2009 20:28

sunburn I'm so sorry for your loss

It's horrible, but don't make any decisions now. Let yourself have a bit of time to grieve. The whole thing is shit and unfair, and it hurts in a way that you cannot explain to someone who hasn't been there. Look after yourself. Anytime you want to post, please do. We're here for the fallout too if you need us.

sunburn am so sorry to hear your news. Take your time to grieve and feel free to post as much as you need, we have been where you are.

pruneplus2 · 12/11/2009 22:29

Hi all, I am a confirmed knicker checker

I am 5 weeks pregnant and petrified. I've m/c twice this year. First time in March (was 10+1 by dates, baby measured 9+5 at scan) and then again in July (was 11+5 by dates, baby measured 8+5 at scan) and am in such a state about being pregnant again and I'm convinced I will m/c again.

It seems that this year I have only either been pregnant or grieving

Seen GP today to ask about low dose aspirin and if it would help - she reckons not but took bloods anyway to test and see. Just need to wait 10 days now...

I dont want to make booking appt with midwife as last time I booked in and m/c 5 days later and kept getting appointments/phonecalls through weeks later as they failed to take me off the system.

I also really dont know what to do about a scan. I dont want an early one as a h/b at 7/8/9 weeks will not put my mind at rest but on the flip side I dont want to wait til my 12 week dating scan...if I get that far GP suggested feigning abdo pain at around 10 weeks...At least she was honest that that was the only damn way to get a "reassurance" scan...

Sorry for going on!

alana39 · 13/11/2009 13:44

Sunburn so sorry to hear your news.

Prune welcome to the thread, don't worry about going on that's what we're here for!

So - now computer's back on line shall I bore you with my birth? Shortest yet, best and most hideous experience at the same time. Finally worked out how to use G&A without being sick and just managing to get off my face and giggle in the face of puddles of fluid keeping my feet warm while I refused to move from the spot I had chosen to sway on all night. So much for taking socks to keep your feet warm. Nearly fell over a few times with exhaustion. Got very panicky and realised I was probably into transition and started to insist very loudly on an epidural only to be told I was indeed almost ready to push.

The rest is a blur of staff shouting, threats of crash section as HR slowed (pointless threat, I wanted section by now!), no urge to push at all leaving me feeling very confused, no pain relief and a ventouse. After being upright all night almost the worse thing was suddenly losing control over position. I don't care about being on display but even without proper spd I found the legs up position was agony.

And as usual no real feeling now of how bad it was, just a recollection of the facts! Nearly hit DH though when he seriously suggested a 4th a couple of hours later. I have warned I will perform a free vasectomy if ever mentioned again.

Sorry for long post (could actually go on for longer but trying to keep brief). Final recollection is the complete absence of swearing, truly mystifying under the circumstances and after my disgraceful language in the other 2 deliveries.

YouKnowNothingoftheCrunch · 13/11/2009 14:42

sunburn hope you're ok x

Prune welcome. You are in good company here. IT is really tough just getting through those first few weeks. I had a scan at 8 and a half weeks, and again at 13 weeks. They did help reassure me, but in all honesty half an hour later I was already thinking, "Baby was alive earlier but that doesn't mean she is now".

Take each day as it comes, post any worries you have on here (even if they seem silly, I guarantee you're not alone ), and let yourself feel whatever you're feeling. People expect you to be happy and it can make you feel guilty for just feeling sad and scared. But that is normal x

alana sounds traumatic. If you need to post more then please do. I know everyone says "Oh, any birth with a baby at the end is a good birth" but I was really upset for a long time about ds2's birth and it was only after dd that I really accepted that it had been traumatic and I was right to have felt how I did. Still very happy that your ds is here and safe x

scarlotti how's the feeding going now? Did the MW help?

OP posts:
sydneysuze · 15/11/2009 19:49

Hey HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE Congratulations to our news boys courtesy of Scarlotti (love the name) and Alana

Well done ladies!

Hope the breastfeeding works out for you Scarlotti - if you remember we had a nightmare the first couple of weeks, I ended up using nipple shields for a few weeks and that really helped. I have also been taking fenugreek capsules and tea - my milk supply has increased, and MiniSyd is happy and smiley at 8 weeks old

We now still need to give formula at some feeds but usually just once or twice in the evenings, the rest is bf. Good luck!

scarlotti · 16/11/2009 17:44

Hi all

Just a quick hello from me as I've a spare minute

Feeding has taken a turn for the better, thankfully. Cluster feeding went on for 2 deays and nights, and I've finally managed to get my milk in to satisfy this hungry boy!! Managed last night with no formula top up and even got a 3 hour block of sleep rest of the night was spent with me dropping off whilst feeding lying down, then waking up 2 hours later and putting him back in his hammock, only for him to wake 30 mins later!! Still feel more refreshed today.

Doc has confirmed I have a bladder infection as they sent off a sample - it's an odd one to get apparently, but quite normal after urethra trauma!!! Guess that's one name for it. DH is as we speak getting my antibiotics and so soon my burning will stop ... please??!

Does anyone have the link to knicker checker post natal thread? My labour story is on the Nov 09 post natal thread if anyone is interested. Didn't go to plan, or follow the last two, or go quickly ... but he's here now and very edible

YouKnowNothingoftheCrunch · 16/11/2009 17:58

syd 8 weeks already! Can't believe it!

scarlotti here's the link Postnatal knicker checkers

Poor you! Would hate to have an infection to deal with on top of everything else! Are you drinking lots of cranberry juice? (works better than antibiotics IME) Often an instant relief.

Will have a nose at your birth story when I get a moment. Glad feeding is improving.

OP posts:
scarlotti · 16/11/2009 21:11

crunch to be fair I got off very lightly in the nether regions this time - only 1 small graze. I only noticed the infection when all the numbness from the bruising had gone!!
Will pop into the post-natal thread

alana39 · 17/11/2009 09:00

Very at 1 small graze! I have struggled with sitting down for the last 2 days, but I think it's actually because the immense swelling has subsided enough for the stitches to be felt.

Still quite relieved to have got away without any terrible afterpains (yet) but unfortunately still at the stage of toe curling pain for a few seconds when latching on to feed. I put my finger in his mouth last night to see if he wanted a feed and that hurt , so I suppose it's hardly surprising the effect on a more sensitive area .

Managed to get up this morning and did most of the getting ready of older boys, which gives me some hope that by next Thursday when DH goes back to work I might be able to avoid having to sign them in late every day or going to school in my PJs.

MaHobbit · 17/11/2009 09:15

Alana - do be careful to tell the midwife if things get worse again in nether regions. I naively thought my stitched bits were just having an off day. By the time the midwife checked they were nicely infected. A couple of days of ABs and I was back to sitting down without yelping like a small terrier.

consultant appointment was lengthy wait but turned out fine. Heard baby's heartbeat. I am feeling more regular proddings now (when I'm not running round after sprout).

Provisionally booked for homebirth if all goes well.

Scan on Thurs - and I finally remembered it's not just a pre-natal bounty photo and started to get panicked about my advancing years and the likelihood of problems.

scarlotti · 17/11/2009 10:26

alana ouch! It's amazing how much the swelling masks isn't it, when it starts to go down then there's a whole new set of surprises waiting
Well done on getting up - I managed 9:30 this morning which is the earliest yet. Boobs are like rocks so took hours to feed last night as poor boy couldn't latch on. With you on the toe curling pain though

mahobbit fingers crossed for your scan and so pleased all seems to be going so well.

scarlotti · 17/11/2009 10:28

Thought I'd update the list too

I hope all of you newbies are doing well and dont forget to post any problems/worries that you have as we are all here for you.

Im not doing too bad, waking up in night with either cramp in legs or needing the toilet, i hope you are right, those who are now holding little ones, that i will get more sleep when my little one is here

Well back on with work, only 5 weeks to go and then on maternity leave

Big hugs to all

vinocollapso · 19/11/2009 13:26

Hey Everyone

Would it be ok I joined, please?

I had a m/c in July at 11 weeks (died at 7 weeks), and am currently 4 weeks pg.

I'm having all of the usual symptons, plus a few I didn't have the first time, so really hoping this little rascal is hanging on.

Having some mild sea-sickness/weirdy spacey feelings. I had no sickness at all before, I guess because it was over before it was due to start - so as crazy as it sounds, I won't mind if it hits me hard!

Good luck everyone else here.

xx
