Welcome to sunburn - can't put it better than Crunch really, do talk if you need to.

And no news here - DCs had inset day today so my parents took them and I have been asleep for most of the afternoon. This baby feels like it might fall out soon it is so low, but no real progress that makes me think labour is imminent. Have midwife appt tomorrow - in 2 minds as to whether to ask for a sweep because I am a big chicken and it is likely to hurt. Would rather go into labour on the walk to school - will be dragging myself over the very steep hill rather than the easy flat long way in case that works .

scarlotti · 02/11/2009 19:33

bb99 am so sorry to hear your news, will be thinking of you.

flossie keeping it all crossed for a positive outcome.

welcome to sunburn, feel free to vent all you like.

Am also still here, due date still not until Fri but was back in hospital this morning after a few hours of 5 min contractions ... only to get sent home again. That's the second time now so I have no idea what's happening. According to the internal, the contractions I have been having haven't dilated me at all either

Trying to relax and not think about it all but easier said than done. Sigh.

alana39 · 02/11/2009 20:00

Oh no Scarlotti how annoying. Does this mean your mum will just stay with you now until you deliver, or does she need to go home?

Luckily my dad has offered to do the school run tomorrow morning, and for the rest of the week if need be. DH has been having dreams (nightmares?) of waking up to find me "complaining" that the head is coming out. I like the way he just says he wakes up and is surprised, rather than he wakes up because I am poking him in the eyes and screaming.

sunburntats · 02/11/2009 20:58

No bleeding still.
Got the most horrendous back ache though.
boobs really are quite painful.

I just feel SO sad all the time, i cant shake it.

I am so tempted to go for a scan tomorow but there is very little point, they will jsut send me away for another week, then another 10 days...you know the usual pattern of events.

Trying so hard to put it to theback ofmy mind. when your tats are this sore though, its kind of a constant taunting reminder.

Any way, i applied for the job of my dreams just now, pinged off the app form. I cant let "what if"...rule me, i still have a future, even if it is without a baby, its still there so i need to take every opportunity dont i.
But why me?

I have become very superstitious over it all as well.
I try to tightly close my ears to any other anouncement of pregnancy, because i can absolutely garantee, the second a third person anounces that they are a few weeks pregnant...that very day, i begin bleeding. If there are 3 of us at the same time.....it will be me that loses (one in 3 ends in MC is that right? It has always been this way for me any way)
Its crap.

scarlotti · 02/11/2009 21:30

alana after a good chat this morning they are staying, and are happy to, until the baby arrives. I was worried they felt obliged to stay and that was putting pressure on me. They have nothing major to go back for so that's handy.

I keep dreaming I'm going into labour. Not sure what DH is dreaming of - the eye poking comment made me laugh

sunburn hope you keep managing to get through the days.

alana39 · 03/11/2009 10:10

scarlotti just saw your thread over on childbirth and fwiw the midwife that took my antenatal refresher warned us that 3rd babies can go either way - very quickly and easily, or prolonged and troublesome! So at least anecdotally it does seem to be more than just a MN myth as someone put it .

YouKnowNothingoftheKABOOM · 03/11/2009 11:56

scarlotti I always have the on-off contractions. They usually start happening about a week before I properly go into labour. And I'm not talking about Braxton-Hicks' type things. Each time they come regularly, increase in strength and have tricked every midwife who has encountered them Hopefully that'll mean you'll be labouring on your due date.

alana are you eating bucketloads of pump... pineapples (started typing pumpkins, d'oh)? HAve you tried the evening primrose oil?

sunburn applying for the job of your dreams sounds like a good plan. Last year I decided I couldn't put my life on hold anymore and started teacher training. Of course I fall pregnant at the worst possible time, baby is alive and kicking, and I have to leave the course! Wouldn't have it any other way though In my experience babies like to change your plans. Hope you're feeling better.

blondieminx · 03/11/2009 12:55

Hi all BB very sorry to hear your news, will be thinking of you tomorrow. I wish you much better luck next time.

Sunburn welcome, we've all been there. Personally I find taking it a day at a time works best. But applying for new jobs definately seems to make things stick. I'd been TTC for over a year when I finally thought "right well there's clearly no point in just keeping hanging on", went for interview for a really good job and got called back for a 2nd interview days after the blue line on a stick. The cause of that blue line is kicking away at 30 weeks now! Sending you sticky bean vibes and keep us posted on how the scans go eh?

Scarlotti awh that's handy about your parents staying, and nice that the pressure is off. Hope you get some more meaningful/purposeful contractions soon!

Crunch forgive my ignorance but what do you do with the evening primrose oil, just take tablets like normal?

Alana how are things with you? You did make me giggle with the eye poking comment . Hope things get moving for you soon too.

Hope Rosa Middledaughter and Flossie are all hanging in there and doing well?

Ciara how's your nursery etc coming along?

Had first NCT class last night which was nice. One couple aren't coming as their baby has already arrived at 29 weeks but is apparently doing well. Made me think I should get on with choosing my pram etc!!!

Went shopping at the weekend. The car seat I'd chosen (Maxi-cosi pebble) now isn't in stock till the end of the year/mid january - it was originally supposed to come in at end of October. So now I need to choose a new one and see if that is compatible with the pram choice! Have decided I think to cruise ebay to see if I can get a 2nd hand pram with chassis which you can click a car seat onto for very quick trips out and about, and then get a new McLaren XT for after the first few months. It says suitable from birth, but I don't like the fact it doesn't go properly flat for a newborn. Found the whole experience quite a test tbh, it's all so confusing!

cornflakegirl · 03/11/2009 15:15

blondie - skip the pram and just get a moby wrap. DS2 is nearly 10 weeks and we have put our pushchair back in the loft because I just haven't used it yet. Then you can spend the money you save on chocolate!

alana39 · 03/11/2009 15:53

Just back from mw and everything fine (although despite me feeling like bump is dragging around my knees, the head is less engaged that 2 weeks ago). But - no sweeps until 10 days over, then induction from 12 days is the policy here. Given all the preparation that I can feel going on, would be surprised to still be here by that time but getting so fed up. Crunch what's the score with evening primrose oil - how should you take it? Helpfully the only thing my mw suggested was spicy food (which I live on anyway).

blondieminx · 03/11/2009 17:45

Cornflake I love the idea of a wrap, especially for a January baby - it sounds cosier for both of us! - but am possibly being lined up for a C section cos of current position (head under left side of ribcage, bum in middle of bump and eeek, feet down)

Like the tip on spending the money on choc instead though

Alana hope you're not waiting for much longer - have you dug out Suze's list from the old thread for pineapple, walks etc?

scarlotti · 03/11/2009 20:55

crunch fingers crossed you're right!

Part of the issue for me is that Mum and step dad have come up from Wales as last tues' false alarm was given a 24 hours to go label obviously didn't turn out to be true. They're ok with staying but we now have a busy house, I have no space at all (dh escapes to work!) so it's not like I can spend the last few days/weeks slobbing and watching films or anything. They have different thoughts on how I should parent DS too so stress levels can increase on days when he's not at nursery
Still, tomorrow is a nursery day and Mum and I will go in shopping for xmas, so hopefully lots more walking might trigger something.

alana let's hope it's not just anecdotal mn comments on my other thread otherwise all the midwives don't know what they're talking about either!! Glad all is well but hope things start to move for you soon.
DH and I did the deed the night before the last false alarm so might that be an option? Have to say it was probably the most clinical 'moment' we've had - lots of 'hang on whilst I support my bump with a cushion' and other romantic comments!!

alana39 · 04/11/2009 10:49

Blondie I have a list of things you can do - I think the trouble is I just don't believe in most of them. And the ones that seem to have some scientific backing are not looking particularly appealing tbh.....nipple tweaking (for several hours - have better things to do like waste time reading AIBU on mumsnet!)............sex - I can hardly move as it is (turning over in bed is quite a procedure now!) so trying to get my head round coping with that .

With you on the unromantic support / cushions problem Scarlotti . Hope you can stay calm with family.

scarlotti · 04/11/2009 13:03

Ditto here on the not believing any of those 'remedies' work. I think sex probably does as we did that the night before the last false alarm, but I think it only gives you a nudge and if baby is not ready it comes to nothing.
Given it may have contributed to my last return trip to the hospital, I can't say I have any urge to give it another go!!

blondieminx · 04/11/2009 13:53

Alana ah, yes there are plenty of things I'll avoid getting round to while mumsnetting

Hope that you and Scarlotti don't have too much longer to wait before you're holding your gorgeous little bundles of joy!

Hmmm I have to admit that I have gone right off sex since I realised it was setting off BH contractions a few hours later. Am petrified the same thing will happen to me as happened with Tamlin and the baby will start to come out feet first! I do antenatal yoga, I sit on my ball every evening, my skirting boards have never been -so clean are sparkling, I sleep on my left side... what else can I do to get this baby to turn?! Booked in for a scan on the 19th (when I'll be 32+5) and they're then going to think about an ECV which doesn't sound pleasant at all

YouKnowNothingoftheKABOOM · 04/11/2009 14:36

Evening Primrose oil contains prostaglandins (which is what is used to induce labour) at least I think it does and so it can help ripen the cervix. You can take it both orally and internally. Does no harm at all if it doesn't work.

Don't take any advice from me though, since dd was 2 weeks late even having tried everything! The pineapple thing is true, but I read somewhere that you'd have to eat about 50 in one sitting for it to have enough of an affect to trigger anything.

scarlotti that's just what happened to me with ds2, luckily it was just my mother (or I would really have gone insane) but she stayed a whole extra week and I just wanted to slob! I got lots of encouraging "Why don't we go out for another walk?"s when my SPD was making wandering round the house nearly impossible. My advice is be firm! If they take offense you can easily blame it on the hormones.

blondie I hope your little one turns soon, there's still plenty of time.

I've only just used the pushchair for the first time this week (6 months) and I'm still mostly using my sling (baby bjorn with extra back support).

Now where are all those babies?!

Rosa333 · 04/11/2009 20:35

Hi, I am still around and about and checking the thread to see what's what !

I think, following all fine/normal/good etc results from the 12 week scan, that I can add my name to the list with due date being early May.

Now it is 14 + 3 and feeling good and ready to eat a horse should one come cantering past.

Having rellies about is not very relaxing is it. I am just sorting my mother + her husband coming to stay in May (already!!) and it is making me feel slightly tense.

I like the "how about another walk?" comment !

Hope everyone is feeling well and fingers crossed for all in trimester one.

scarlotti · 05/11/2009 08:04

crunch indeed, I suggested yesterday they go for a walk along the downs and managed to get a good few hours of the house to myself, lovely!

Am calmer now about when the baby will come. Conception date makes it my due date today but think it will probably still be a few days yet. Hoovered the whole house yesterday but all I got for my efforts was clean floors!
Into town for some early xmas shopping today - maybe the crowds or the fireworks might work some magic?!!

Rosa glad you're doing well and congrats on putting yourself on the list - cut and paste it in with your details on. I ate for Britain so go ahead and get that horse!!

alana39 · 05/11/2009 10:10

Rosa great news.

Thanks for that info Crunch - only downside is can't face thought of going to shops to get some. Was sure last night labour was starting - had contractions and what felt like really bad period pains (couldn't stand up straight) albeit only every 10 minutes, but that was basically the start of my last 2 labours. Then it just stopped. I am becoming very whingey about this I know, but even watching Spooks didn't put me in a better mood.

YouKnowNothingoftheKABOOM · 05/11/2009 10:58

alana have you forgotten how much I posted in the last couple of weeks! Whinge away! Contractions sound positive. I started to think of it as every false alarm must be doing something - even if it's just toning my muscles in preparation for the big event. So instead of seeing it as an "Argh! Not in labour, again!" I saw it as a productive trip to the gym which would make real labour that little bit easier. And since established labour was only a couple of hours long I guess it worked

scarlotti keep sending them out for the day. And if you can think of things that you need for labour but can't possibly get yourself, then send them out on "essential" errands too.

Hoping all the bangs triggers something in you both!

Rosa that's great news. As scarlotti says, copy the list and paste it with your info added. IT'll be great to see a few more names on the Current list!

blondieminx · 05/11/2009 14:25

Crunch thanks for the tip on the evening primrose oil, very interesting!

Am keeping my fingers crossed that Alana and Scarlotti have a lovely Bonfire Night present soon.

Alana I saw Spooks too and have to say it wasn't as fast paced as previous series somehow so no wonder it didn't do the trick for you. Though I did enjoy Ros's sardonic exchanges with the Minister and her putting the slimy M16 agent in his place (before the yanks finished the job for her!). Still miss the delightful Rupert Penry-Jones as Adam I have to say. Do you like 24 as well?

Scarlotti hope you have a good shopping trip. I've brought quite a bit now and am making lists of what else I need to get before settling down to wrap it all (am thinking all that bending over on the floor with wrapping paper and sellotape might do the trick to get this baby to turn!!!). Sending the folks out on errands might make them feel like they are being of more use eh... as well as giving you some peace/space

Rosa aha, good for you! oh and btw I'll fight you for that horse haha! I still can't beleive my ravenous appetite, have put on nearly 2 stone so far but people keep telling me I'm all bump so I'm not going to worry about it till after the baby is here. Just can't get enough of real comfort food at the moment - cooked bramley apples with sultanas and custard is my absolutely favourite thing right now! Enjoy your second trimester - it's a lovely time eh, when all those kicks start!

Hope all are doing well today. Enjoy the fireworks tonight!

YouKnowNothingoftheKABOOM · 05/11/2009 17:13

It's gone all quiet.

Is that the distant of babies appearing, or just another firework?

redtent · 05/11/2009 17:19

Add myself in here as I'm too scared to join the July 2010 thread just yet.

I'm knicker checking something rotten.

I had a m/c (chemical) in 2006 before conceiving ds 3 and then had the same last month and the this month BFP. I'm really nervous but I so hope this is a sticky one. only 3 days to beat last months milestone..... getting through these next 8 weeks is going to be hell.

YouKnowNothingoftheKABOOM · 05/11/2009 17:22

redtent welcome to the thread. Any worries please do post them. I've got my fingers crossed for you

scarlotti · 05/11/2009 17:26

blondie a succesful trip in terms of presents bought, but not in terms of getting this baby out!!
Have even hoovered the whole house and changed a load of beds, still nothing!
We were a little disappointed with spooks too but hopefully next week's will be back up to par.

redtent welcome to the thread and hope your stay with us is a long one.

alana are you conspicuously (sp?) absent??!!
