Hi folks,

Anyone gone private for an early scan? you can't get an early reassurance scan in my area but there is a company - healthcarenow ltd in Edinburgh - that offer early scans from 7-11 weeks for £55.

Anyone been for something similar or know of another route?

I am also having HcG levels done next week but I would like the reassurance of an early scan since I m/c at 8.5 weeks (discovered at 11wks) last time.

Lolly - I was told by midwife that at Wishaw they dont like inductions if they can avoid.. but of course depends on circumstances - but it sounds like the nesting means that you could be there - maybe your waters will go when the champagne cork goes at Xmas! My sis in law was born Xmas day! I'm a Dec baby too (you get joint Xmas/B'day presents its CRAP!

Geordie, do you know Uddingston train station and High Street, I'm 5 mins from there. Yes I get train into Glasgow in morn...only ones with seats tho!!

Vio · 07/12/2006 14:06

Hi Geordie, don't worry about the scan, everything will be fine, I don't always feel the baby moving but hes fine so don't worry..be happy..fingers crossed.

I am really from HK but my husband is English..hes been living in Glasgow for nearly 4 yrs thats why we ended up in Glasgow. God..i miss the food...I know i should be saying that cos i live in Scotland now but i do really miss the food..i told my friends that next time when i go back to HK..i am going to eat everyday!!!..you lived there for so long so you must know quite a bit about HK then..I used to work in Admiralty so not far from Wanchai..often walked down there for lunch. In fact, i lived in Tuen Mun so its not too far from Tin Tsui Wai either. I don't know when i will be going back to HK next cos i am pregnant now...maybe wait till the babys a bit older like 18 or 2 yrs? don;t know..but a really long wait though!!! no, i don't feel home sick though i do miss my job and my friends and family...just miss the food so much ..:O)

not sure if my baby will have blue eyes like his dad!!!haha..that would be so lovely!!

geordiemacmincepie · 07/12/2006 14:13

I used to work on West George street and it used to drive me mad getting the train.. 8.20.. there was NEVER any seats... the same people used to push their way on... I always used to get stuck to the sneezy coughy people!!!

Vio - will your family be able to come over once the baby is born?

lollipopz · 07/12/2006 14:14

Yeah have a car that i can still just about fit behind the wheel!, I live in the west end of glasgow so a bit far, i will wait another week to see how things progress if thats ok and if im still here and scrubbing the paint off the walls then that would be really really great!, started getting little niggles today so hopefully that could be the start of something [fsceptical]!My dd was 5 yesterday, and i felt kinda sorry for her cos some people gave her presents with xmas paper on!
will be even worse for this baby, should have planned better!lol
I have family here cos I am actually scottish, the only one by the looks of things, meant to be going through to rutherglen at xmas as family there but everythings touch and go at the moment!!

lollipopz · 07/12/2006 14:16

geordiemacmincepie · 07/12/2006 14:18

I bought a box of mini chocolate doughnuts from sainsburys at lunch time to share out in the office... I have eaten 4 so far.... I am a big fat bloater!!!

bananasarny · 07/12/2006 14:24

Ok guys - re shiatsu - just let me know ok!

Vio - the food, I know, do you know Jaffe Road, there's a beijing shui jiao, dumpling shop, I used to go there loads at lunchtime and eat myself stupid, tons of chili sauce! And Olivers super sandwiches. I used to work in Central Plaza and then get drunk in Joe Bananas. There used to be good noodle shops along Lockhart Road, not there now! And a proper tea you can stand your spoon in with toast with sweetened condensed milk on it.............hungry!!! Oh and Can Do steak restaurant with the hot plate... and Jo Jo Mess curry arrrahhhggghhh

bananasarny · 07/12/2006 14:25

You greedy woman, thats terrible, I've eaten 2 sandwiches, a packet of crisps, started on wine gums and now I WANT A DONUT - fancy no krispy kremes in Glasgow, its a crime!

geordiemacmincepie · 07/12/2006 14:28

I've never even been to any of those places but they sound good!!!!!

Yep, one for me one for the baby, one for me one for the baby...repeat as necessary!!!

I think but am not sure that Krispy Kreme might do mail order.. the ones I have are just tiny half coated in chocolate.. just the right size for popping in your mouth whole!!

bananasarny · 07/12/2006 14:33

Nice arent they, I had 2 macdonalds choccie doughnuts at the weekend, that was after a big mac and fries.(gone off meat but not in a burger??!!) Krisy Kreme order mmm now going to have to look into that...

Sorry didnt answer you, Xmas going to husbands mums, he's one of 5, gone right off meat so I'll be the fat farty woman only eating spuds peas n gravy and being an embarrasment - got office do next week dont like the look of the menu, might embarrass them all and ask for plate of mash.

lollipopz · 07/12/2006 14:34

ooh i am so jealous of you all talking about food, I am hungry all time, but half a sarnie seems to fill me up and cant eat any more!!
Made loads of food for dds birthday party last night and only managed 2 bite sized pizzas and some carrot sticks(i have a weird craving for raw carrot all of a sudden!), then was stuffed and had to sit and watch every one else have a good feed!!ant wait to get my stomach back to normal size and go out for a good feed!! x

bananasarny · 07/12/2006 14:36

vio - get your friends in HK to send us emergency food packages!!

bananasarny · 07/12/2006 14:40

Lolly do you reckon thats because not much room in stomach now all pushed up? - I know I sound like a grunter, but my eating has calmed down, first 3 months I was eating to stop feeling sick and could easily polish off 3 sandwiches in a oner was sooo hungry.

bananasarny · 07/12/2006 14:45

Oh yeah Geordie I work on West George St too, hate spluttery people on train!

geordiemacmincepie · 07/12/2006 14:48

I ate virtually nothing for the first 3 months... was being too sick.. calmed down a bit then I got some bug last week, spent the whole weekend throwing up, this is the first day I've been able to eat... infact I got weighed yesterday... since finding out I was pregnant I have put on 2lb... [smug emoticon]

bananasarny · 07/12/2006 14:56

Good your feeling better - only 21b thats really good, I think I've put on a stone!! Midwife wasnt concerned cos weight still normal - think they only worry if you are really very overweight. Yeah there's been some strange virus' going around

geordiemacmincepie · 07/12/2006 15:02

I've probably put on another 2lb in doughnuts alone!!!!! still it will make mu bump look bigger which will compliment my chistmas dress!!!! I'm much happier now I'm at a point where I actually look pregnant rather than just bloated!!!

bananasarny · 07/12/2006 15:06

Ha I know what you mean!! I have quite a bump now as the midwife commented and 3 comments on size of babe so I hope isnt too big at end!! !!

I havent bought much in maternity yet, wating for the desperation to set in, still wearing my jeans...part undone with a hair elastic holding them together - classy eh!! Am having trouble bending over doing up boots, so got some shoes I can slip on yesterday!!

geordiemacmincepie · 07/12/2006 15:14

I bought a fantastic pair of black stretchy maternity trousers from H&M at EK last week. They dont have any fastenings, just pull on stretchy things, boot cut.. they are soooooo comfy I wish I had bought 7 pairs!!! Only £15 too!!

lollipopz · 07/12/2006 15:24

Yeah banana baby is 7lbs odd just now so my stomach is squished up tiny!! am mostly eating soup and yoghurt ans custard, things like that!!
I bought a pair of pull on boots last week, and i really struggle to get them on and off!! my mum has promised to come up when i think labour has started to help my tidy my toenails and legs!! lol

bananasarny · 07/12/2006 15:24

Yes must go there, excellent! I went to top shop and their maternity jeans were horrible, overpriced too - I got a dark blue pair from M&S for £35 which are so comfy and not yukky! Maternity bras in there not bad £20 for 2. Must check out EK tho!

bananasarny · 07/12/2006 15:26

Lolly - I know, I was worried about pull on boots, thats nice your mum will give you manicure for labour lol!!

Husband say - if you want he can come to you as he can jump on underground at lunchtime and do shiatsu if you want - he said is safer for you to be at home as you may go into labour pretty quick - I can give you his mobile if you would like to discuss?

geordiemacmincepie · 07/12/2006 15:27

I got 3 pairs of jeans from ebay - brand new, cos I'm only 5"1 there isnt much maternity petite stuff about, think the 3 pairs cost about £20 in total, 2 pairs from next and a pair from m&s!!! Bargin!

bananasarny · 07/12/2006 15:29

Excellent - wonder if we'll get any more bargains in the sales, a lot of ordinary clothes are suitable for maternity arent they as they are empire line. handy!!

bananasarny · 07/12/2006 16:09

so if I see someone 5ft one in jeans and preggo in Uddinston shall I ask them if their name is mince pie.............and get sectioned!!
