amyboo-that system all sounds very organised..lovely as well that you can have a single room

TotallyAndUtterlyPaninied · 22/10/2009 18:51

I agree, it sounds very organised, unlike here which feels like a load of people running around shouting 'ahhh pregnant women everywhere... too many... what do we doooooooooooo?' everytime I go to antenatal. They just don't seem organised at all. Maternity and labour wards at my hospital are diabolical.

How's everyone feeling today? I'm feeling Christmassy!! Yeeeeehhhaaar.

Jacanne · 22/10/2009 22:10

Had my 12 week scan today - all seems to be okay. Baby's heartrate was 171 and apparently it should be between 150 and 170 so I have to go for another scan next week to check it - they said it was probably because the baby was very active.

NT was normal but the higher end of normal so I have to wait for my bloods to come back to see what my risk is - kind of wish that I hadn't had the bloods done now but too late.

Anyway it was nice to see my wiggly bean and to know that the tummy I am developing isn't just from eating too much

bluesnowfalcon · 23/10/2009 06:51

Jacanne congrats on the scan and seeing your bean!

bluesnowfalcon · 23/10/2009 07:02

I had my first doctors appointment last night - it was all very low key just told me to take a FMU sample in this morning and a midwife would contact me soon. Anyone elses experience like this?

Kinda thought they'd make sure there and then that I really am pregnant but then did ask about LMP and did dates said i'm 6 weeks and asked about symptoms - tired, faint sickness and reallllllly sore boobs!

Guess I'll just have to wait for midwife to ring me but he said that'll be anytime between next week and 10 weeks so I guess I just try hard to put my feet up now and then and hope all stays good

Finding it really hard to stay positive on here so might not post for a while but I'll check in next week

amyboo · 23/10/2009 08:06

Hey jacanne that's great news! It's so good to get to that magical 12 week mark isn't it?

Ooooh feeling Christmassy already totally! I haven't got into it yet. We have St Nicolas here first (6th December - kind of kids Christmas), and shops aren't actually allowed to start Christmas advertising until sometime around the end of November. So, I find I don't usually get Christmassy until our Christmas markets open at the end of November. Trying not to think about all the shopping for presents I've got to get done

memorylapse · 23/10/2009 12:04

Jacanne- lovely news about your scan

situation normal here..sick, sick, sick...12+3

Iam going to book a private scan because I feel cheated out of my 12 week scan..I wanted a scan after I turned 12 weeks really so I could have some reassurance

Jacanne · 25/10/2009 10:16

My sickness seems to have pretty much stopped now - that is okay isn't it? Hope your's stops soon Memory. Have reassured myself somewhat about the fast heart beat - I think a slower than average one is generally more of a problem and have looked back at various threads, it depends on your health authority whether they send you for another scan or not - some seemed unconcerned at a heart beat of 185.

memorylapse · 25/10/2009 22:29

Jacanne..most ladies report sickness stops around 12 weeks..dont panic

I had a private scan today and baby was really active, HR was 158 which sonographer said was fine..sonographer was really happy and said everything looked fine..nuchal was 1.5 mm and she could see the nasal bone..the clot is still the same size and she said that in her day job as Lead sonographer at Wythenshawe hospital in Manchester she sees small clots at 12 week scans all the time and she said she wouldnt have even mentioned it to me..she said they only worry if its as big as the baby..she said that it really is tiny and she expects it will be gone by 20 weeks...I hope so..
Ive put my scan pic on my profile..baby looks like its sticking its tongue out!

amyboo · 26/10/2009 07:50

Lovely pic memory - so pleased that everything's working out for you.

I wouldn't worry about the sickness going Jacanne. Mine stopped around 14 weeks, so I think you're fine...

Jacanne · 26/10/2009 10:27

So pleased to hear that about the clot Memory

Jacanne · 26/10/2009 10:29

Lovely picture

memorylapse · 26/10/2009 13:55

obviously if the clot doesnt re absorb by 20 weeks then that is a worry...but Im just taking it each day at a time....still feeling sick...but have a very tiny bump appearing and have felt some delicate little tap sensations low down in my tummy

Jacanne · 26/10/2009 16:00

That's great! Every now and then I can feel a hardening sensation and something there - not really a tap as such but it's all feeling a bit more real now. Wish my DH could come on Friday for the second scan because everytime I've been for a scan on my own it has been bad news and I feel a bit superstitious about it but he doesn't think work will understand .

memorylapse · 26/10/2009 19:46

Jacanne..My DH hasnt been able to get away from work either and was really disappointed that he missd Sundays scan

Jacanne · 27/10/2009 16:29

I am anxiously sitting at home hoping that the hospital don't ring - they said that if I was a high risk for a chromosonal problem I'd hear either today or tomorrow. Tomorrow is going to be hard enough because its my Grandad's funeral - am really hoping I don't come home to phone message from them - feel even more anxious after today's news item about Downs syndrome.

amyboo · 28/10/2009 08:02

I'm sure everything will be fine jacanne - sending you lots of positive vibes. Sorry to hear about your Grandad's funeral tomorrow. Hope it goes OK

memorylapse · 28/10/2009 15:15

Jacanne...fingers crossed for you, hoping the phone doesnt ring.

sorry to hear about your grandad

Jacanne · 29/10/2009 09:34

Thanks - no phone call yesterday - it's been a week today - I would have heard by now wouldn't I?

amyboo · 29/10/2009 14:56

Definitely you would have heard by now. So, I'm sure that means everything is fine. Can you ring them and check to put your mind at rest?

Jacanne · 30/10/2009 15:42

I had my second scan today and this time the FHR was 145 so well within the normal band

TotallyAndUtterlyPaninied · 31/10/2009 19:41

Hi girlios.

Jacanne- sounds like all's well! Sorry about your grandad. xxx

Memory and Amy, all ok?

I've still got my headache- it's been about 2 n a half months. What can I do?

Still haven't had my referal so I'm quite grumped.

Had a fantastic week with DS, I've loved half term and don't want to go back to work I'm also really behind with my work which isn't helping the panic. I think work are trying to get rid of me, too.

I've started buying- got a car seat, put DS in a big boy bed and he is absolutely loving it- he's stayed in it and gone straight to sleep! So now the cot is freed up for mini me.

I still need to get:

Baby gros
Nappies and wipes
cotton wool
bottles (incase)
steriliser
dummys
Baby monitors (not going to have her in our room so I think I'll put her on a video monitor and an apnoea mat)
Sling

I think I've got everything else. Can anyone think of other things I might need?

I don't want to faff getting a double buggy as DS will be 22 months when she's born so I'm thinking of getting a sling for now or possibly a new carrycot for the old pram and a buggyboard for DS. Anyone have any experience of this? I don't know what to do for the best!

amyboo · 05/11/2009 08:38

OOooh it's very quiet in here recently. Where is everyone?

I can't believe you still haven't had your referal totally - that's just rubbish! Hope it comes through soon. Sounds like you've started getting things sorted nicely for the new arrival. I'm still a bit terrified about buying stuff incase it all goes wrong again, but I did pick up a baby carrier second hand yesterday that was an absolute bargain. Hopefully that hasn't jinxed anything!

Got my date for my next scan - 24th November! I can't wait to find out if it's a girl or a boy....

Jacanne · 05/11/2009 14:41

Hi - got my scan date through for 18th Dec - so I'm excited (and of course worried about that) - NT results came through and the baby is not high risk.

Hope you get your referral soon Totally and that they get the headaches to stop - can't imagine having one for that long - must be awful.

The biggest purchase we have to make is to switch to a 7 seater car - going to leave that one as long as possible.

I told my boss yesterday and she was really happy for me - I am very relieved about that.

It's my oldest's 7th birthday today so I am off to Pizza Express with 13 6-7 old girls - wish me luck

TotallyAndUtterlyPaninied · 07/11/2009 13:50

Aww did he have a nice birthday Jacanne? So the day you had him there was fireworks. How lovely.

I keep wondering where everyone's disappeared to, too.

Bet you are both so excited for your scan. Amy- glad you're finding out what it is coz I'm nosey and I want to know

I saw midwife the other day and she said neither the counsellor or the physio woman will be able to fit me in for ages and she's embarressed at the way I'm being treated! She said baby's heartbeat was irregular and sent me to hospital but hospital said it was fine. Babba kicks hell out of me now. Midwife said it's going to be a big baby as I have a huge bump at 25 weeks and it's already up to just under my boobs! They said they think a homebirth will be out of the question due to my SPD. Great. She also doubts I'll even manage a normal delivery with it!

How are you guys?
