Just tell me this gets easier.

VeryTiredLonelyAndFedUpTiggaxx

Tabitha8 · 12/08/2009 10:50

What gets easier, Tigga? Tell us what it is and we'll tell you that it does .

Neddie · 12/08/2009 11:03

HI all
Still alive and 15 days to go! If anyone has the urge to have twins then I suggest you hire a set of domestic staff as the last few weeks are torture. I have put on 5 stone!!!
I am as you have guessed fairly right wing in my views. I suggest instead of banning hunting we release said criminals onto Salisbury plain where we can get the hounds onto them. I should be on my fastest horse behind them, much better than chasing a fox who at least are very beautiful creatures. The mother (if you can call her that) has a face like a bag of spanners. Oh and sterilize them too, she had a baby in prison whilst awaiting trial .

Tabitha8 · 12/08/2009 11:07

Oooh, Neddie, that would encourage me to take up horse-riding.

mrsboogie · 12/08/2009 11:17

mornin' all

tigga does what get easier?

still v rough. Mr D waking now at 4am for a bottle so tee you had more sleep than me too. Could you please getme some pro-plus at Boots. and some lemon drizzle please

stairgates and door gates came this am - blimey they are easy to set up aren't they?

delivery man said to DP "yu're gong to lesarn to hate these things very soon and spend your life saying "will you please close the bloody gate" Methinks he may have kids...

D bawled and clung to his daddy this morning at nursery - but I can see him now happily rocking on a rocky horse thing in the yard (in borrowed socks again )

I am getting my hair done n Friday as we have a leavign do at work. I always co-ordinate my hair dos with work nights out as it makes me feel that much better to have new hair. Am going back to brown and am thinking of a bob. Always thinks bob looks better in theroy than reality but I can't think of anythign else to dowith it.

ho hum. wheeze..

mrsboogie · 12/08/2009 11:27

apols for typos etc - sneaky fast typing...

neddie sign me up!

I must say you have put me right off having twins - I was all for it before. Will have to reconsider my plans in light of all this ..

you know I have no idea how you are supposed to even feed twins - how does it work?

heron22 · 12/08/2009 11:36

tigga what part of child rearing are you referring to gets easier?

FloriaTosca · 12/08/2009 11:44

It always gets easier in some ways tigga but must admit it also gets harder in others. Sorry you are feeling tired lonely and fed up...I totally sympathise; when my Dh goes away I find the single (part-time working) mother thing very hard and the non working days horrendously lonely. A circle of mums with kids the same age having regular tea and toys (moaning)sessions helps I find. hope you feel more the thing soon
..which reminds me ..we are late for a kiddies party...what joy!
got to dash

oh and JW any morning you like, you are always welcome!

Tee2072 · 12/08/2009 12:56

Sorry mrsb didn't see your shopping list until after I got back!!

Very cranky baby this afternoon has finally gone down for a nap. I think I may join him. Not raining here, but not sunny either. I just bought parasol for pram, this means the sun won't shine in Belfast for the rest of the summer. Although Tall Ships arrive in Belfast tomorrow and I'm hoping to take Adam.

JW I may start planning A's 40th cuz that will be my 80th and his dad's 75th!

ermintrude13 · 12/08/2009 12:57

I think I now realise why I never went through a horsey phase...

JW Hairdressers always tell you to go with your hair unwashed to see how it falls 'naturally'. I have a friend who does her best wash and blowdry before a haircut which always seems like a complete waste of time!

johnworf · 12/08/2009 17:17

Ok, I is back with brand new hair which is back to natural brown colour, although it took me ages to remember what colour I was born with as I haven't seen it for a while. Lovely, lovely, hair now.

Tall ships are lovely tee. One of the few happy memories of living in Portsmouth I have was when they visited.

Kiss of death to the weather is a sun parasol

floria I've been and spent up at Musberry. Had v limited time so was in and out. You know what you said about saving some money but knowing you, you'd end up spending more than the M&S quote? Well I did just that. Haven't broken it to DH yet.....It was, shall we say, a lot more. It's raw silk. I'd better give him some 'early nights' to soften the blow IYKWIM.

We're off tomorrow to see SiL at her caravan in North Wales. Just a day trip to have a change of scenery. Our one day out during the whole six weeks school holidays

mrsb I keep banging into the stair gate at the top of our stairs. It has one of those spring back type affairs so that it isn't left open. Trouble is, if you have washing or baby in one hand, it's nigh on impossible to get the bugger open and to make it stay open long enough to get through it. It's like something out of the Crystal Maze!

Glad to see that 4am is a popular time for getting up on this thread

FloriaTosca · 12/08/2009 17:36

JW lol!! I knew it!once faced with those lovely fabrics it is just too hard to resist..but what you lost on the fabric you will have saved on the making up, honest[ft crosses fingers behind her back]... I financed my way through the jcr bar at uni by working in a curtain shop, I know these things...sorry not to take you up on the coffee though we had a 2nd birthday party to go to this am and mum and aunt were on the door step when we got back
birthday party was really hard actually...5 of the 9 of us have recently sprogged again and all those tinies (youngest only 12 days old)really got me broody...ho hum...

dh wants the laptop...better give it to him...(rather like JW will be doing for the next month or two)

BonzoDoodah · 12/08/2009 18:33

Hi All - laughing my socks off at being too posh to talk to anybody! Wrong person Tigga! There are lots of places near Cheadle!
M seems better today. Dr said to continue with the inhaler and it is probably gone to a bacterial infection so prescribed the antibiotics (of course her temp had dropped by the time we arrived at the Docs but they believed me).
We were out at John Lewis this morning to check her shoes - phew another 3 weeks growth there! This afternoon she's been a right little whinger again but we think that's her being wiped out with the cough.

I'm with Duchesse and Ermintrude on the morality of crowd justice. No thanks. I'd rather let an impartial judge make a decision on the punishment for hideous crimes. Otherwise we're as bad as them.

neddie I've had my fill of children so no worries about me going for tins! Hope you surivive the next few weeks. I don't know who mentioned it but had you thought about the induction date and how it affects them going into the school year? A few days either way and they are the absolute youngest or oldest in their year. I was at the youngest end (July) but had no problems.
The little girl next door is only 4 weeks younger than M but is in the next year down at school which is quite sad.

BonzoDoodah · 12/08/2009 18:37

took me so long to type that message that had crossed posts ... ahem jw photos???

Florida if you're feeling broody you can have mine if you like?

jeanjeannie · 12/08/2009 18:42

Evening all...well, I tried the new Sainsburys and it meets all my requirements - so I shall be flashing my cash there again! I also sinned and went into Next...eek, that knitted dress looked good; even SIL agreed and she's so straight to the point she borders on brutal. So it is mine all mine!

dawn does it get better? Well yes, in a way - I found it much easier once past the weaning stage. Once that was over with I felt a bit more in control. As for lonely - tell me about it. Never felt it in my life before - totally alien to me but boy, I think I've wailed away on this thread (just before you arrived) many a time about the awful mummies and no one having a sick wierd good sense of humour. TBH I still struggle with the lack of humour element but i'm getting there!

neddie LOL@the new form of hunting. Well, I'll just dust off my riding boots and think I'll prepare a stirrup cup for the event!! blows a horn and awaits the pack of hounds

jw OMG how FABULOUS! You've gone and bought raw silk curtains!!!! Oh they'll look amazing! And new hair too...I'd consider that a fine day all round!
DO let us know if you need the smelling salts for DH!

Right - off to do the bedtime rounds.

mrsboogie · 12/08/2009 19:11

well, now I'm imaging jw's DH's puzzled face as she suddenly turns into a rampant bunny in order to distract him from the reassuring expensive silken swish of the new dining room curtains

what colour are they jw?

well done on the dress jj! It is a lovely autumn look with boots. I'm looking forward to the day when I can go into a shop and try something on and think it looks good - only 4 stone to go....

we only have a stairgate at the bottom jw as D won't be let loose upstairs any time soon. That should be difficult enough to manage especially as they need two hands to open..

johnworf · 12/08/2009 20:12

Evening all.

Just catching up on the afternoon's goss.

bonzo very pleased to hear that M is whinging. Prolly means she's on the mend

JJ new dress eh? Those you linked to in Next were very nice and I'm sure you will look fab in them Always nice having a new outfit to cheer yourself up.

Hair looks v different but v sad that I'm still having to grow it as last haircut saw it razored to hell and back and now I'm in the growing it stage. I'll try and get a pic up.

The curtains are officially called cream but they are more of a light gold in my mind. It is beautiful fabric and thanks floria for leading me astray! I love ya I think what is bumping the cost up is that silk is thin and I've had to have an interlining (first time I've heard of one today) and then the plain cotton lining over that to give the curtain some substance.

mrsb K hasn't yet managed to get to the foot of our stairs but she sure can get to the top of them when she's let loose up there. She's really got the hang of crawling now and nowhere is off limits (to her, she's the boss, she told me so). I think we'll need another stair gate in time when she's discovered the unchartered territory of the hallway.

Oh lord, I felt so upset listening to the news last night about baby Peter I had to turn it off I was talking to my DD#1 about it this morning and she told me that is just one case that comes into the public arena. There are many you never hear of...sickening and vile things that people do to children, and each other. I wouldn't have her job for toffees.

ermintrude13 · 12/08/2009 20:13

Raw silk sounds yummy JW. Are we to be treated to pics of new 'do'?

Bonzo glad to hear M is on the mend!

mrsB I've seen a woman feeding her twins - one under each arm in 'rugby ball' position ie. with top of their heads facing inwards, and each propped up on lots of cushions. Not something you could easily do without a) someone to help and b) a devil-may-care attitude about who gets a flash of your norks. However, she often fed them one at a time and they learned to drink fast .

Neddie hope you're getting some practice in with rugby balls!

Floria I feel broody looking at my own 6 week old . Hormones are strange, innit?

We went to the beach in Market Square today and, cynical as I was about it, it was rather fun. Looked like builder's sand on the actual 'beach' bit but there was a large 'sea' area for paddling and striped deckchairs, rides for the kids, crazy golf, candy floss, ice-cream, picnicking families etc. And sunshine! Not sure how much the council is paying for it but the stallholders were doing a roaring trade so I expect they were paying a fair old amount for their pitches. Am currently v impressed by Nott City Council because although we are in Rushcliffe borough council the DC are entitled to have a Citycard which gives them free swimming, discounted travel and other perks on city facilities.

Tee2072 · 12/08/2009 20:28

Evenin'.

What a horrid afternoon of A screaming whenever I tried to put him down. He would be asleep, I'd go to put him down, he'd wake up and scream. The second Daddy got home? All smiles. BABIES!!!!

I'm exhausted.

Ooh, new curtains. New hair. Any new babies?

mrsboogie · 12/08/2009 20:40

jw that sounds lovely - and you know they will be timelessly classy and last for yonks and yonks-

we must have a pic of the hair - looking forward to getting mine done on friday.

that's the thing I couldn't picture about feeding twins how the heck would you do it without someone to hand the second one to you?? perhaps slings would be helpful?

good news that M is recovering bonzo

is your DD in SS then jw? must have missed that. It really upsets me too hearing that sort of thing to as it makes me look at D and imagine someone doing it to him. When you see their little happy faces anticipating nothing but good things from you and the world and then think that some kids live in fear of the next horrible/painful thing, for once I agree with the Daily Mail about something - we do need to become nosier about what certain other people are up to with their kids..

I had that 6 week broody thing too ermintrude - I think its when the horrors of pregnancy and childbirth have receded and things have settled down a bit and the baby looks so angelic..

it wore off again though!!

johnworf · 12/08/2009 20:48

Ah yes tee. The daddy smiling baby syndrome is similar to the ill child at the doctors making an immediate recovery and a liar of it's neurotic mother syndrome. Maybe A is tiring himself out for a good nights sleep. We all live in hope of that!

Sounds like a nice day at the 'beach' ermintrude. And only a short bus journey away. Excellent. Was it like a real beach? Did you find condoms washed up on the shoreline? Any broken glass? Seagull poo? It's just not the same otherwise

Prolly have some pics tomorrow after we get back from day out. Oh yes, we're on day release tomorrow

Interesting your hairdressing appointments coincide with nights out mrsb. Mine don't. They coincide with meteorite showers which, coincidentally, is tonight

johnworf · 12/08/2009 20:49

mrsb no, she works for Probation. She sees all manner of, ahem, clients.

jeanjeannie · 12/08/2009 20:52

There's still a distant sound of yelling in the background...Iris had no story as she went to bed too late - she's not happy!

tee yikes - sounds like a hard day on the ears and nerves.

bonzo forgot to say that I'm pleased to hear M is on the mend and temperature is back to normal

erm gosh - you almost make me want to pop into Notts to test drive the beach! Are the Lions wearing sunglasses and sombreros?

jw yep - pic purlease! Oh I hate it when the razor it...why do they do it? You can actually hear the hair ripping. I must dye my eyebrows - I look a bit scraggy atm - definately let myself go!

johnworf · 12/08/2009 21:23

You know JJ DH actually said to me the other day 'you seem to be letting yourself go'. That came and bit he back on the arse when he enquired how much the hairdressers was

I've never dyed my eyelashes but then I guess, I've never needed to. Sounds dangerous?

K also put to a fight before finally settling. Poor Iris with no story. You know she'll be up in the night by way of your punishment don't you?

johnworf · 13/08/2009 09:37

Seems someone fed the meter with 50p and we're back online.

We're off shortly to N Wales for the day. Dreading it for so many reasons...... anyhoo, I have to get out of the house as otherwise I'll be qualifying for the Miss Havisham Award

Lovely sunny day to enjoy but think it might all go Pete Tong for the weekend. Isn't it always the way?

K managed to pull herself up today to standing. Didn't see the actual event as briefly went to the kitchen and missed it - always the way isn't it? I'm sure she waited for me to leave the room!
