good news re your FiL jw It must make all the difference that he is positive about it all.

well D is downstairs again now. He is unusually unsettled - probably the effect of being back at nursery. He doesn't cry at anyone but bawled when he was handed over this morning (as I knew he would) happy as a pig in shite when we went to pick him up though.

duchesse glad to see the sis has booked herself in somewhere that isn't your best bedroom! now if the lo could check out of his/her current accomodation before totally outstaying their welcome!

duchesse · 24/08/2009 21:40

I will go for induction on Thursday if this baby hasn't materialised by then. It will have been 4 days since rupture of membranes which is quite long enough I think...

thread crash
Hi everyone I am an old TTC/Hut/temping buddy of duchesse -
Been looking all over for you duchesse! I was sure that baby must be cooked around now . Thinking of you and looking forward to hearing your news.
sorry for crashing (but may lurk longer to keep on checking for news if that's ok )

Morning ladies.

I can't believe that K is still getting up once in the night to feed. And she does feed - a whole bottle! We're regressing. I can only think that she's on catch up weight wise or that she is going through a growth spurt (if in doubt, always blame a growth spurth; advice from my MW )

duchesse not sure about the scare tactics of your Obs person but I think that uterine infection once the waters have gone/leaked is paramount. Although they can give anti-b's but I think that's if they go before 37 weeks. They probably wouldn't prescribe them if you're overdue. So you and neddie will be going the same day?! I think neddie's are coming out of the sunroof, so that'll be a quick delivery. That means the gauntlet has been thrown down and you need to go for a v quick delivery Just kidding dear

tee you have so many phases to go through that I'm not even going to try and explain any of them. I'm sure you'll know when you're then when you arrive. They usually start with a howl.

FloriaTosca · 25/08/2009 08:20

Mornin'All!

JW If it is any consolation Alex is doing the same thing not once but twice a night! We took the side off his cotbed 2 weeks ago so he could come to me for the 4am feed he has never dropped and all that hashappened is that he has started coming in at 1am too!... I'm afraid all the advice I got about bfing to 2 is backfiring on me of the 5 of us doing it 3 have self weaned and at least the other 1 sleeps through...I think I'm going to have to force the issue if I don't want to be feeding him at the school gates

Duchesse I think you have made a good decision, hopefully lo will get a move on today to save you the induction.

Neddie 24 hours to go!..you could almost start counting down the minutes!!!

Tee thinking of you all down at the Gps for the 1st jabs...if it is any consolation I cried more than Alex..Dh had to take him for the second lot

Off to Tescos and then down to my Mums..her rheumatoid arthritis has flared up worse than ever before (at least the xrays have proved it isnt a broken hip or collapsed vertebrae as we have been fearing for the past week!)and she barely even stand let alone do house work so I'm off to blitz her place (at least with her unable to get about it will stay tidy for longer ) Have a lovely day ladies.

Neddie · 25/08/2009 08:23

Hi all
I will be done in 48 hours hopefully at 9 am on Thursday. Everything all organised at home, bags all packed. Off to final morning to check up on work (get some money if possible)go to bank etc make sure holiday settings on e-bay. 1 week off-sorted.
Duchesse surely this baby must come out before Thursday.
Tee be careful to only use one passport at a time my mum and I have dual nationality and she went out on one and came back on another and it had to be confiscated as she was technically still out in Spain (or something like that) I think mine will be the same and have British, German and Spanish nationality.

Tee2072 · 25/08/2009 08:24

Morning all.

A's off for first jabs today, nearly three weeks late. I am assuming all future jabs will also be late. He woke up in a horrid mood, but seems better now.

duchesse I hope you don't have to wait until Thursday!!

johnworf · 25/08/2009 09:06

tee get some Calpol on the way home

Tee2072 · 25/08/2009 09:18

JW I've heard such mixed things about Calpol at this age! I am going to double check with the GP.

johnworf · 25/08/2009 09:30

K first had it in hospital after her first jabs, administered by her consultant. Can't think what the bad things are (unless you use it all the time).

jeanjeannie · 25/08/2009 09:47

Morning all.

duchesse Yep, that's what I was told when my waters went at 26 weeks - infection was the main concern. I luckily kept Iris in until 33/4 wks! Here's hoping you had some over-night activity!

neddie so close you can smell it! And the joy of a c-section being that you get the babies so quickly!!

floria I'm so grateful Verity self-weaned - it must be bloody hard now for you....I have no idea how you get through the day.

JW I think you should definately blame the growth spurt. I'm amazed at how Verity has shot up in the last two weeks. Nowt fits her legs. She's like me - got a short body and long legs - everything looks like it's shrunk!

No energy today - think I shall muster the strength to go to the park. Ever have those days where you think - "Oh, I wish I could hand them over to the nursery in Balamory so I could go off and have a sleep or do nothing!"

dawntigga · 25/08/2009 09:49

duchesse this happened to me - don't worry everything will be ok. Just do what they tell you! You might want to try the following to get labour started (I did and it might have worked as I went into labour the day the were going to induce):

pineapple
curry
hot bath
a walk

You can't do the sex one cos of the waters n everyfink!

KeepingHerFingersCrossedAndEatingCarrotCakeForDuchesseTiggaxx

dawntigga · 25/08/2009 09:50

Guys, how many nappies etc will I need to go with re-useables? What else will I need?

NobodyOnTheNappyThreadLovesMeTiggaxx

ermintrude13 · 25/08/2009 10:04

This simply isn't on. I leave for more than a week to give you ladies time to give birth and still no babies! Duchesse, I gave birth on 40+12 (after 3 sweeps in 5 days) which was the day they wanted to induce me, so there's still time. But maybe it's a good idea to get philosophical about the home birth, just in case you do need to go in. Focus on plopping LO out without the need for a doctor, wherever you are . I do feel for you!

And Neddie it sounds as though D-Day can't come too soon for you; can't wait to hear about those tins' arrival

Don't ask about the holiday. Our caravan was the Superior Prestige or something; heaven knows how rickety and squashed the Standard one would be. The 'swimming pool' was basically a splash pool which DD could stand up in even in the 'deep' end and we passed on the 'entertainments' after DH took the older kids to a wrestling match compered by 'Les Bean' and featuring a fat wrestler who got the dismal crowd shouting 'Fatty! Fatty!' which DH found particularly embarrassing because it could have been directed at almost anyone in the audience too, and who kept calling everyone 'puffs'. Super family fun.

Edinburgh itself was lovely though rainy and I did manage to read 4 novels whilst b/feeding, so am quite relaxed.

Hello to everyone else, I'll never manage to catch up properly but have skim-read - JW congrats on your son's great results - erm that's just about all I can remember except a general vibe that school holidays can be rather looooong. Too true. Now I'm off to put on another load of washing - it'll only take a fortnight or so to get thru it...

jeanjeannie · 25/08/2009 10:12

dawn I've got 12 (now I've sold off some of mine due to obsessive buying as they're SO sweeeet!) Motherease - my 'workhorse' nappies and I've got 4 wraps. Wraps tend to survive better and can have a wipe now and then

I only use fleece liners....made all my own - nice thin fleece (IKEA thin throws are good) cut in an oval.

Bucket - with a net and lid. I also pop a muslin on the top before the lid goes on and pop a sprinke of nice smelly oil on it. I don't use water and soak - too much faff - not worth it and too smelly!

Oh and for going out (wet nappies) I bought cheap small drawstring wash bags - they're really handy anyway - regardless of reusables.

I've also got 6 Bumgenius all-in-one nappies which I adore and use for Iris now she's bigger. Or I use them for going out as there is less to carry. I've found them the only all-in-one that don't leak. Washing and drying is SO quick. Not cheap but boy they last!

I always use vinegar in the conditioner drawer; wash at 40 most times but wack on a really hot wash once a week.

Sorry luvvie - that was an essay
give us a shout if you want more info.

OMG I think that vid on FB of K is so lovely - and funny. Bless her focusing on that one black key. Is she inspired by Glass? Nyman? Pray - do tell!!

jeanjeannie · 25/08/2009 10:15

erm just seen your post. All I can think of is that classic episode of Father Ted - when they go camping and Graham Norton ends up doing an a jig in the style of Riverdance while the rickety old van wobbles away...

mrsboogie · 25/08/2009 10:58

erm your holiday sounds fab actually - the stuff that memeories are made of!!

D is still also waking in the night - not every night but most - there has been some regression here too of late with 3am feeds. Last night he slept through but that was only cos he didn't go to bed 'til 11pm! He had to be dragged out of bed this morning too.

tee there's nowt at all wrong with Calpol unless it is misused - its only paracetomol. HV always told me to give D some after his jabs to prevent a temperature.

duchesse and neddie hopefully not too long now.

johnworf · 25/08/2009 12:33

WB ermintrude. Overall a good time was had by all? Your description of 'Les' and the fatty chants, wrestlers and 'poof's' made me LOL! Excellent stuff. Bet you couldn't write it. On par with Benidorm (which I've only seen snippets of)?

JJ K loves having a jam on the piano. J/k. She just likes bashing the keys. Made us laugh though the way she has moments of intensity.

I've got far too many nappies so if you're looking to buy any dawntigga, give me a shout and I might be able to put some your way. I've got all the ones JJ uses plus some Fuzzibuns which I like but DH doesn't and refuses to put them on K. They're sized though so they won't last until she's potty trained.

Hoping to get out to the park after lunch. That's if the rain holds off.

Taught DSS to tie his shoe laces this morning. Brilliant! Picked it up in no time. Mind you, he will be 10 next b'day. Trouble is that most shoes are velcro fastening - I'd say the vast majority in Clarks are - and I had to ask for laces as there was none out on display. I'm sure my older ones were tieing their laces around about 5-6 years old.

I wouldn't be surprised if they bring out nappies to fit until teenage years soon. Saves kids having to use the loo

Bone idleness...mumble, mumble....

Tee2072 · 25/08/2009 13:05

Back, successfully jabbed. HV agreed with me to not give the Calpol unless he spikes a fever. So far he seems fine, fell asleep 20 minutes after post jab bottle.

Size...14 lbs...24 inches ...at not quite 11 weeks old. Percentiles are all fine, he's in proportion, just going to be very very tall, which he gets from his 6'2" dad and not his 5'2" mum!!

Welcome back erm sounds like quite a trip.

jj just saw that Father Ted (DH watches them On Demand while feeding A) and had the same thought!

johnworf · 25/08/2009 15:21

tee you wouldn't give them calpol unless they had a fever. That's what it's for!

mrsboogie · 25/08/2009 16:26

my hv told me to give it on a preventative basis which I was happy to do!

jeanjeannie · 25/08/2009 16:55

Afternoon all. Well, so much for routine - the girls are in bed - NOW!!!! AHHHH! Iris isn't managing a whole day awake every day - so conks out about 4 and Verity is just all over the place. Mmmm, sorry for making anyone with tiny weeny ones feel like there is no light at the end of the tunnel. There is....it's called School

Calpol - only give it when there is a fever however I've been told many times by a HV to give it to stave off fever etc. I think it's much like being told to take paracetemol before the pain sets in. Personally I wait for the pain...I'm strange like that! I'm still mourning the loss of Medi-sed for I think it's under 12s now Gawd that stuff was good....I was going to make medi-sed jellies after Iris's birthday party to send the LOs off home and to sleep nice and soundly!!! (joke if SS or the DM are watching in!)

jw awww bless your DSS on his newly acquired shoe lace trick!

OK - no sign of duchesse ...OOOOOOooooOOOOOOOOOO - should we start getting the towels ready and rustling up some hot water?!

Tee2072 · 25/08/2009 17:12

JW I meant what mrsb said. A lot of people were telling me to give it before hand, but I'd really rather not. He has been very cranky (when not asleep) this afternoon, but no fever. I get the feeling he's just feeling 'off'. I'm letting him sleep on my chest at the moment.

dawntigga · 25/08/2009 19:43

Ladies,

I've ordered 3 nappies to 'trial' wish me luck

OverwhelmedWithTheChoiceItsLikeLookingForABloodyPramAgainTiggaxx

johnworf · 25/08/2009 20:17

Good luck dawntigga tee just keep your eye on his temp. Do you have a thermometer? I think the first one is the worst as you're not sure how they'll react to it. K was fine with all of hers (and the calpol she had in hospital was preventitive but I only give if she's actually got a fever).

I had one of the thermometers you put under their armpit (or anus...ewww....never did) but it took ages to get the temp - that's 2 minutes in real life but a lifetime in a wriggly baby's. So, splashed out on one of the in the ear ones that does it in the blink of an eye. DH thinks I'm bonkers but it's just so convenient.

Looking forward to #2 installment of Sarah Ferguson's balls up program. The residents are up in arms and have made their own program in protest. I have no idea what they're protesting about as the area is a shit hole, no two ways about it.

JJ Iris sounds like she's at that inbetween stage with her naps. Not quite managing to make it to 7pm. What a bind
