Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
johnworf · 21/08/2009 18:57

Sounds like a good day all in all mrsb. A child free treat

Maybe the Brad Pitt character made my DD#1 think that I.B.'s was a comedy...yes, she really thought that Tarantino had made a comedy when she saw the trailer with Mr Pitt in it.

I thought I'd piled weight on but I've just bought a pair of size 14 trousers and they're too big for me so will have to go back. Sometimes I think I'm just bloated from drinking too much diet coke.

K is already using a duvet when the night is a bit chilly...not v often at the mo.

dawntigga · 21/08/2009 19:03

I'm living for 24 weeks at the moment. Don't get me wrong I enjoy Sam most of the time right now but I'm looking forward to him having food other than momma and using the bedding we have for him

GotGivenSamWhenSamWouldOnlyBeConsolledByFeedingTiggaxx

jeanjeannie · 21/08/2009 19:12

Evening all. Well dawntigga my DP thinks that the Simpsons will keep them happy! Although he's great at the park but, then again, he himself can usually be found on the swings. Actually I think my DP is right when he says that most men find LOs interesting once they get to about one

mrsB that sounds like an agreeable day.

jw that video of K is just hilarous - superb! Bless her - she's a little livewire! She also incredibly pretty. All Verity wants to do atm is play with the phone and say "Hello Andrea" - so that shows you how much I phone that particular friend!!! More teeth seem to be appearing - so that bodes well for chewing.

Anyone bought Boden? How do the sizes shape up? I've seen this dress for a couple of weddings I've got coming up....and I don't want to look too 'weddingy'

OMG I've just seen an ad for the re-release of the Stones Roses album...TWENTY years Twenty?! Christ I feel old.

johnworf · 21/08/2009 19:22

JJ I love all of the things on that page. Sizes are v good imho. Don't come up small.

Yes, she's a livewire alright She is also the absolute double of my older DD. I am working on a montage of the pair of them at the same age. The likeness is incredible.

Ha! You've been rumbled phoning 'Andrea' haven't you?

20 years already? Crikey. I remember it well (I already have the album though).

Tee2072 · 21/08/2009 20:33

Adam just gave his first real laugh! With this huge grin!!

Okay, now its definitely all worth it....

mrsboogie · 21/08/2009 20:34

Aye K is a little beauty -and very photogenic.
S'funny how she looks so like her dad and your DD1 jw - those beauty genes obviously come from momma!

dawn I think it's all hard going until 12weeks-sorry I can't remember how old Sam is now but you are right 24 weeks is when it really starts to get easier. Just hold on in there...Also Sam's dad will be much more use to you when Sam is a bit more interactive -my DP is quite open about the fact that the early weeks/months were "a bit shit, really" but he is great now.

D is teething again. Here we go again...

mrsboogie · 21/08/2009 20:36

haha the laughing and grinning is definitely payback for all the hard grind!

johnworf · 21/08/2009 20:48

mrsb I think most men find the early months 'boring'. Well, I know my DH did when he told me. He's finding K more entertaining now that she can interact and be entertaining.

I think I'm just a carrier for the beauty gene, nothing more sadly. Skipped a generation methinks

Feel sick after too much curry. Need a lie down, read me book and possible early night.

Bidding on some Dave Gorman tickets. Ya never know eh? See, now I've got the taste for going out.......TWICE in one year. Oh my lordy!

duchesse you bouncing whilst eating curry with sex for afters? If no, the you should be!

mrsboogie · 21/08/2009 21:04

oh yeah- owt occurin' duchesse ?

is that a popping sound I hear?

hedgepig · 21/08/2009 21:22

evening, I learned something about my son (O) tonight there was much screaming while we tried to rock him to sleep then just to change the situation a bit I turned the light on and he went out just like that amazing! he did the same thing last night so I conclude that he must like the light on.

to A's grin Tee, just wait for the 1st giggle they are great.

O did fine at nursery today he just looked at us with a scowl as we walked out but he was fine after that. I spent the 2 hrs filling in holes with filler prior to us decorating the box room so we can finally move O out of our room.

MrB I was just looking at your photos on FB, I never knew Leeds had a tropical world is it new (well new since I lived there in 1992 anyway)

jeanjeannie · 21/08/2009 21:27

Well, the general opinion here seems to be then that men find babies (pre-weaning) a bit dull! Thing I found hard was BF at about 4 months - seemed endless, like there was no break and stupidly I didn't express and give a bottle sooner - so bottle feeding was a no-go and the result being DP couldn't help out And NO - I'm NOT having another so that I won't make the same mistake again!!

jw OOoooo come and see Dave Gorman with us - here in Wycombe! You can pop into London - or Oxford (cos they're near and more interesting than here!) go on, make a weekend of it

mrsB MORE teeth?! Blimey

tee oh wow - that first laugh - brilliant

Righty ho - night night all.

johnworf · 21/08/2009 22:12

mrsb D must have nearly all of his baby teeth by now That's amazing!

JJ oh I wish I could come and see him with you guys. I kinda know Oxford...if you count knowing as driving down the bypass many, many times on my way from Portsmouth to Manchester. No, praps it doesn't count

hedgepig I suspect many things are new in Leeds since 1992...the small matter of the 17 intervening years eh? Doesn't time fly? Actually, that would have been around the time-ish that my DH was graduating from Leeds Uni. He says it was a shite hole when he was there but now it's all been tarted up. I think they even have a Selfridges although I doubt many students shop there.

Sleeping with the light one? I think you have a little contrary baby there hedgepig

johnworf · 21/08/2009 22:14

light on. Dagnabbit. Late and all.

Oh, our water has been turned off. I went to make a cup of tea and it dribbled out. Nowt I can do now but hopefully will have some on the morrow for cup of morning tea. At least the shops are open to buy a bottle of water if not. I've made all the bottles up so at least K is sorted.

hedgepig · 21/08/2009 22:26

what a pain JW hopefully it will be back on tomorrow. Yep I agree with your DH Leeds was a S* hole in 1992! It was a relief to get a job Cambridge so I could move. I was living with my ex-bf we split up shortly after and then he admitted living together was one of the worst experience of his life! I didn't think I was that bad

johnworf · 22/08/2009 07:49

Morning laydees.

Uneventful night here. K woke for a feed at a time I cannot confirm as DH saw to her. I knew she'd wake up last night as she went to bed at 6.30pm. She would not have an afternoon nap and instead, stood crying in her cot like an advert for NSPCC So that was that. She's been up again at 6am with me and gone back to sleep. I'm just hanging around waiting for Ikea to open so I can take a light fitting back...

...talking of which, I just cannot find the light shade for the dining room that I want. Well, I did find the one I wanted in the new M&S catalogue. However, when I enquired instore, seems that although they are advertising it, they don't actually have it online nor instore and you can't actually buy it...........yet. No one knows when you can. It's a bloody mystery! I wonder if this is what is known as mystery shopping?

DD#1 rang me at 10.45pm last night to ask if our water was off too. Yep. And United Utilities website confirmed it. Anyhoo, came back on just before I tripped off to bed so normal service is resumed

I've just been chuckling at the DM website with the story of the woman who had plastic surgery to look like Nefertiti. She just looks odd to me.

K is loving her new toy maraca. She's either bashing you in the face with it (doubles as a mace) or, is grinning like a loon whilst shaking it a la Bez Cheap as chips too from good ol' Tesco.

Tee2072 · 22/08/2009 08:21

Morning!

A apparently had a lovely night, but like JW DH dealt with him so I have no idea! I do know that I was gotten up at 0640 and he's been full of beans and ready to party ever since!

Off to the shops today for exciting things like food. And to try and get passport pics of A. Wish us luck on that one!!

Tabitha8 · 22/08/2009 10:30

JW Here's another shopping mystery. It's impossible to ring my local Mamas and Papas store. Any local store, in fact. They all use the one number. So, how can I check stock? Aaarrggghhh!!! Ok, I feel better now, but I still can't check their stock.

Neddie · 22/08/2009 11:09

Hi all
Sun,Mon,Tues,Wed, BABIES.
Come on Duchesse or I'll have them first!!
I feel better from cold but have a little sicky feeling this morning. Can't complain as I have had no morning sickness this time round, which is weird as you would have thought that it would be double.
JW I know about the genetic beauty jumping a generation. My mother was absolutely stunning and did some modelling for petite's and my daughter (though a little puppy fat at the mo.)has the biggest green eyes you can imagine.DD2 looks just like me and my dad so looks a bit Spanish. And these will be ginger I place my bet now........which will make the full colour spectrum in our house.

johnworf · 22/08/2009 11:46

tabitha M&P have a central number and they can check the stock for the store you're asking about.

neddie I wouldn't say I got the ugly gene but my DD's are pretty, much prettier than me

Ginger runs in our family too; my mother and twin sisters are all ginger. No ginger kids here though. Those genes again eh?

Not long to go now. Hope you enjoy your last weekend before the tins shatter any peace you had

duchesse · 22/08/2009 12:19

I did warn ya Neddie! Still nothing happening here. Midwife did another sweep yesterday- still same as Tuesday, so not holding my breath that this one'll come before yours...

OP posts:
Tee2072 · 22/08/2009 12:21

YAYAYA tins almost here! You must be so excited neddie!!

Does anyone else wander around WH Smith or Waterstones and wonder which of those books erm wrote? or just me??

mrsboogie · 22/08/2009 12:33

morning all

Yes, Leeds is fab now (has its rough areas still- very rough) but has been massively regenerated. There's nothing grim and Northern about it now. The area where the park is has got some lovely tree lined avenues of gorgeous houses.I could see myself living there for def!

D woke at 1am for a bottle - we were still up - watching The Class (which was good) and he didn't wake again until about 8am.

He has 10 teeth at the moment- about half, with two or three ready to come through. All the worst ones yet to come though.

jw saw your latest FB video of K- she is a stunner - a proper little girl .

Just got a 20% off voucher from ELC so been looking online for D's 1st bday pressies - they have a big bucket of Megabloks reduced from £50 to £25 and with 20% off that is the first one sorted me thinks! Also going to get him a sit-on rocker which he seems to enjoy at nursery.

any sign of duchesse?? neddie how exciting! can't wait to hear news of the tins!!

mrsboogie · 22/08/2009 12:35

ah, there you are duchesse reckon it's a race to the finish now between you both!

tee I do wonder as well but we'll never know, I guess!

johnworf · 22/08/2009 13:50

mrsb get you up at 1am I'd be dead in the morning if I did/could do that! Anything past midnight and I'm useless by the morning. I'm such a lightweight. I'm a lark though as opposed to an owl. I don't mind 6am starts

Can't believe how many teeth D has. Loads!

It's not too bad here today. Sunny then goes cloudy then back to sunny again. I've managed to get the washing on the line.

I've been to Ikea and Sainsbogs this morning to do my returns. Hate taking stuff back. Got a couple of nice tops from Next delivered today though. Have some really lovely things in at the mo. Not so much for the LO's yet.

DS#2 is officially moving into his sister's place tomorrow so I'm back on roast dinner duty. I'll never get rid of them now they're local. Sounds like Royston Vasey

Tabitha8 · 22/08/2009 15:29

JW I see, thanks for that. Next moan is that the number is closed all weekend. I might just buy a Peg Perego pram. It's the same company.

At least the lovely weather is cheering me up.
