Morning all - just a quick pit sop before nursery.

God I felt queasy last night - all that cake.

jw and mrsB have you ticked off the 'no use for publicity' in FB yet?? Just that it's tightly buried and aparently they are trawling through everyones photos and using/selling them - or at least they have the right to. I've done that and I don't think it interfers with your ability to send them onto folk outside FB.

Hope you all had an OK night. Any signs duchesse oh and when is it that your sis arrives?

See you later x

Tee2072 · 21/08/2009 08:56

Morning all.

A was only up once!!! 3 am then up for the day at 6.

JJ Facebook has always been able to use your pictures for ads. No idea why it was suddenly all over the place like it was something new. And yes, you can block it.

duchesse are you going to have to be bugged about this every day, like we did with erm?

Gotta go, A just woke up from his nap...

Neddie · 21/08/2009 09:39

Hi all
6 days to go! I have a slight cold so I hope it clears before D day.
Tee wow that's getting good on the sleep front, it makes a difference when they let have some ZZ's.
I ordered a foldable changing station on e-bay which we put up in the big bathroom upstairs. It was very inexpensive and is a great design except it is in luminous green and has hideous palm trees and turtles design on it. It has a bath under the changer so it's great and I can take it downstairs during the day. I might have to invest in sunglasses for the little critters though.
My last baby had HIP Organic pots as I had to work long hours with her and she quite liked that, but I am going to make my own this time

duchesse · 21/08/2009 11:22

Nuffink yet. Looks like I'm in for an Ermintrude-style drubbing from you lot...

Weird community midwife rang this morning sounding quite put out that she'd been put down to come and another stretch and sweep on me this morning. Is there any particular reason I want it done, asks she. Erm, huh?, ask I. Because we only normally offer them from 41 weeks, says she. Well, I thought, that's not what your colleagues suggested when they began offering them. Furthermore, by my dates (as opposed to US dates), I am now 41+5.

Not even sure I want her to do it anyway now.

Duchess sounds like you have an interesting morning planned hopefully it will get things going.

I'm taking O for another nursery visit this afternoon where I leave him for 2 hrs Ooooo what shall I do wit 2 babyless hrs?? Answers on a post card to Hedgepig hollow ......

Hi belgianbum,I am creamcrackered (LOs 6 next week! and 10 months) and found my pg at 41 more draining than the one at 37.

johnworf · 21/08/2009 11:54

Just laughing at hedgepigs typo of belgianbum

hedgepig I'm sure you'll find something slightly more interesting than twiddling your thumbs for 2 hours. I'm v at you getting time off (for good behaviour?) When you back to work officially?

duchesse I'd be thoroughly fed up with MW's sticking their hands up my undercarriage all the time. Are you bouncing on that ball? Having sex? Eating curry? If not, why not???!

neddie sings it's the final countdown! Hehe. Not long now eh? Don't forget to let us know how you get on. I hope you don't disappear off our radar as some of the mums on here have once their LO's have been born

Nowt planned here today apart from ferrying DD#1 to her sick grandmother's house. Just had a trip to Tesco to pick up baby milk...I mean, it's life on the edge isn't it?

DSS off to his mother's this afternoon until Monday. Just need someone to take K and then we could just put our feet up. Now that is wishful thinking.

JJ hope Iris has fun at nursery and your cake addiction is subsiding

johnworf · 21/08/2009 11:55

While I was in Tesco I noticed there was a stairgate reduced to £16 but, having basket in one hand and pushing a pushchair with the other, seemed no hands were left to pick it up. I ask for assistance and wait 5 minutes for the world's tallest man to appear and by such time, some b'stard has nabbed it off the shelf

I hate it when that happens.

hedgepig · 21/08/2009 13:25

JW you should have taken it off the shelf and sat on it!

johnworf · 21/08/2009 13:26

I will in future

hedgepig · 21/08/2009 13:35

it's a bit pants they didn't have another one since you were waiting for there assistance

Tee2072 · 21/08/2009 13:51

Hi all

Question for you: how long was your baby at 9 months? I am asking because the Grobag things my mum brought me from the State, made by Carter's, claim to be from 0 - 9 months. No weight or length listed. Adam can no longer use them because he can't straighten his legs in them, which is why I think we had such a bad night, night before last. He was all crushed up in the Grobag and uncomfortable.

So I measured him and I measured the bags. He is about 45 cm (17 inches) from shoulder to toes. The bag? 46 cm (18.11 inches) from top to bottom. So how the heck would that last until a baby is 9 months old?!? I don't think Adam is particularly long, although he is in 75th percentile at last measurement.

heron22 · 21/08/2009 14:35

hello all! hope you are all well.

jw yes, end of tunnel i can see!
tee i think the labeling might be wrong! poor A, all squashed up, no wonder he was not happy.

i have sold LO's amby, my medela swing, and now i am selling more stuff on ebay! will sell doppler, unused soothers and teats. better cash in hand than having stuff around the house gathering dust!

heron22 · 21/08/2009 15:09

ladies, been thinking of introducing chicken to my LO . he is now 7 months old, is now the right time? or wait till he is older?

hedgepig · 21/08/2009 15:13

meat is fine after 6 months Heron.

Those do sound a bit small Tee. It is interesting the difference between my 2 children B always loved his grobags O does not really like them much at all.

jeanjeannie · 21/08/2009 15:58

Afternoon all - just a fleeting hello as the troops are restless. No peace for the wicked etc etc.

duchesse can you do a sweep yourself? Perhaps DH could help

tee weird sizing going on there...they're usually on the big size. Verity can't stand them and Iris eventually worked out how to get out of them!

heron I'd say go for the chicken - obviously don't expect him to gnaw on a drumstick yet

jw oh wow - stairgate rage! Drop K off here...we'll look after her - got loads of wooden spoons - some silcone ones too which are great for chewing on. She may enjoying slapping the cat on the head - Verity does.

hedgepig how did the nursery go? And what did you do with your TWO hours?

Right - smell of poo is wafting past - I don't think it's my Diptyque candle

Tee2072 · 21/08/2009 16:22

So went Grobag shopping today. The Carter's ones are weird. Bought three at TK Maxx aged 0 - 6 months, those things must be 3 feet long and 2 feet wide, I don't even think my quickly growing little man will be out of them in 4 months!!!

Making my first ever, 100% from scratch Sheppard's Pie. Using James Martin's, my cooking boyfriend, slow bake recipe. After being a working woman for the last 25ish years, how weird it is to have time to start cooking dinner at 3:30!

Tabitha8 · 21/08/2009 16:30

Tee You put me to shame. I can still hardly cook. I would really like to be able to make a nice soup.

Tee2072 · 21/08/2009 16:34

Well, I've always cooked tab just not things that take more than an hour in the oven!

Soup is easy...take some stuff, a chicken, some veg, whatever. Throw in some herbs, salt, pepper. Cover with water. Let simmer for 5 - 10 hours. VIOLA! Soup.

johnworf · 21/08/2009 17:51

K won't sleep unless she's in her gro-bag. I think she finds it comforting. Never had them back in the day of the older 3 so obviously none of them wore them.

tee the ones I've got are huge. I think she'll still fit in them when she goes to school so all I can think is that America has different sizings to us.

I've got some Carters onesies from Costco and their sizing is spot on for what it says on the label so maybe they allow for the UK market...dunno.

johnworf · 21/08/2009 17:51

JJ I can just see that she would love to slap Bob on the head

dawntigga · 21/08/2009 18:11

OK why do men do it? DP has Sam, ok, but then doesn't actually keep him entertained so he starts crying. I tell DP that Sam needs to be kept entertained and get told to keep out of it. Then, when Sam is crying his head off he gives him to me.

AboutToBeGivenSamTiggaxx

hedgepig · 21/08/2009 18:20

It is one of life's mysteries me thinks DT

johnworf · 21/08/2009 18:41

dawntigga you're not alone on that conundrum. DH thinks that by putting the cricket on, K will be entertained for 2 hours...at least

Tee2072 · 21/08/2009 18:47

Okay, another place my DH is apparently atypical. He actually plays with Adam. Of course, he also feeds him with one hand and uses the computer with the other 99% of the time, but I do that about 75% of the time, so I can't really complain!!

mrsboogie · 21/08/2009 18:49

evenin' all

Just got back from town - D at his grandparents so we went for a spot of lunch and to see Inglourious Basterds. V good - v Tarantino. Lots of blood etc. The evil Nazi guy was played even better than I heard- not so sure about Brad Pitt tho - more of a comedy character. Still, most enjoyable afternoon.About to make a curry now before D gets returned to us..

Am having a final blowout as, most depressingly, I have put a load of weight back on by just eating (and drinking) normally this week. Felt horribly fat and self conscious walking around in town. The diet was cast aside as I couldn't manage it while being ill so much but its got to start again now.

D grew out of his grobags when he was quite small- well I think he did-we couldn't be arsed with the faff of them back in the days when he had to have his nappy changed in the middle of the night. He sleeps with a crocheted blanket at the moment but in a couple of weeks he can go under his duvet!!
