Tabitha8 · 17/08/2009 15:50

Ah, the exploding nappies. Great fun. Even better than the projectile vomiting that goes all over their faces.

BonzoDoodah · 17/08/2009 15:57

hello all
hope you all had good weekends. We spent sunday picking about 100lb plums/damsons from DH's cousin's garden. Today I am going to make damson crumble and damson jam and then look at the 5 carrier bags full and wonder what to do with them all. Yum!

BonzoDoodah · 17/08/2009 17:27

Florida good call - forgot about the Damson vodka my mate made .... DIVINE!!! Hic!
Buggering stupid compters eating posts - why is it never the short ones??

Tee2072 · 17/08/2009 18:45

Evenin' all.

Spent the afternoon with a baby asleep in my arms. Just didn't want to put him down, so I didn't.

My SIL has informed my DH that her now 7 week old baby will be going into a routine immediately. I wished her luck. And snickered behind my hand. And so did DH.

I hope others had reason to laugh this week...

mrsboogie · 17/08/2009 18:55

haha tee what's the betting that the baby will have very different ideas on the matter?...

the phrase "setting herself up for failure" springs to mind...

Tee2072 · 17/08/2009 19:08

It gets better mrsb...this is what she is going to follow.

At 7 weeks. Does anyone else notice that there is no time do to anything in that schedule except follow the schedule? Also, she says she is doing it so she can 'have her evenings back'. So I said to DH, 'let's say we get A to go down by 6:30. What would we do then that we don't do now?' He replied '' To which I replied 'exactly.'

mrsboogie · 17/08/2009 19:14

Oh my gawd, good luck to her, I'm knackered just reading that!!

so, what if the baby doesn't wake up at 7am? do you actually wake it up??

there's no way on earth D would have fitted into that, not without the entire household going stark staring mad in the attempt

johnworf · 17/08/2009 19:37

It's got to be her first baby tee. No one on subsequent babies would even entertain something as idiotic as that.

I'll have a word with K when I get off the laptop and tell her that she must be in bed for 8pm

We're off to see The Time Travellers Wife later on. All being well and K goes to bed before we leave.

Never had damson vodka but used to make our own sloe gin. V nice it was too as I recall.

Tabitha8 · 17/08/2009 19:41

I've shown that routine to B and he said he'll let me know at 1 o'clock in the morning what he thinks about it....

Tee2072 · 17/08/2009 19:56

Totally her first baby JW. She also still maintains that:

He will never have a tantrum in public.
He will always eat what's on offer (easy at the moment, with only BOOBIES on offer).

I just roll my eyes at her behind her back.

jeanjeannie · 17/08/2009 20:26

PMSL laughing at that routine tee Is she hoping to discover her baby is actually operating on batteries?!! Oh well, let them discover the hard way I say. And yes, when on earth would you get time to do other things....? I mean there would be no time for MNetting.....or making damson vodka

jw have a great time tonight - I reckon you need it. Oh and don't worry too much about those programmes on autism although I know I did a bit. Your DSS has the best form of ASD there is in terms of life chances etc. Don't forget social skills can be learned and if he's bright - which he probably is then with a bit shed loads of hard work from you guys then he'll probably start to 'get it' all.

heron and floria poor you - can't imagine how I'd cope atm without DP - even though I moan about him!

Bonzo your damson treats sound divine.

mrsB OOoo that weird bleachy taste - that's exactly what we all had - turned to a burning thing on the gums too. Really odd.

I feel all light headed from coughing - think it's another early night for me.

Tee2072 · 18/08/2009 07:35

Good morning all!

Interestingly, A seems to have developed his own routine! Down between 9 and 10, sleep until 2, back to sleep from 3ish to 6.

JW I hope you had a fabulous night out.

More big plans here at TeeWorld...exercise, shower, bathe baby, file papers. What's the old saying? 'The PA's papers go unfiled'?

jeanjeannie · 18/08/2009 08:07

Greetings.

tee that sounds like a fun day and I'd be very happy with that routine so early on - nice work!

jw hope it was a fun-filled night and judging by FB it sounds as though love bites may have been gathered while snogging in the back seats Film any good?

What excitment for today? Think we're hitting the supermarket. Need to get stuff for DP's birthday on Thurs....as in ingredients for a choccy cake! He's got to work so we're going out on Sat. I did take a leaf out of jw and erm's book and buy him a night out - 7 months in advance! So we're off to see Dave Gorman - who he adores.

Other than that - it'll be the usual day of keeping tears at bay - attempting to get Iris to wee on the potty and stopping her unlocking the door and running out

Tee2072 · 18/08/2009 08:16

How on earth did I miss the love bite conversation on Facebook! Must try harder!!!

Neddie · 18/08/2009 08:36

Hi there still hanging on with 9 days to go.
There are 2 things I don't have, Farmer Giles and backache!
JJ I think potty training was thing that really was a trauma with my little ones, they would scream when I put them on there. I think the 2nd one went fairly quickly to the toilet with one of those baby adaptor seats.

Good luck Duchesse I am really sympathising with you and hope all goes well.
I am getting butterflies of excitement and nervousness. I know I've had 2 already but 2 at once makes for a bit more tension.
I have to go into work (textiles) this morning and leave a note for my absence next Thursday. I'm not sure how long to take off. How long does it take after a caesarian before you can pick things up?

jeanjeannie · 18/08/2009 09:00

What neddie NO farmer Giles Blimey, your bum is made of stirling stuff!

Thing with C-sections is that you can do lots yourself to help - providing there are no other factors. With my first c-sec I got an infection so it was crap - and so was recovery Second one was amazing - I was up and about next day hardly noticing a twinge and within a week was easily carrying Verity around and felt pretty normal. Try not to carry anything heavier than a baby for the first three weeks (longer if poss) simply because you can damage the scar/tissue and set yourself back.

Actually my top tips are:
*HUGE knickers - Make sure nothing rubs the scar.
*Drink so much after the op that you feel you'll burst. This means you'll pee quicker and that makes SO much difference.

  • I took arnica tablets a couple of days before and then during and a bit after - the bruising was out and gone really quickly
  • when you get home move everything you'll need downstairs (baby clothes/nappies for the day) to avoid going up and down if you don't need to!

Troops are restless - they're throwing play bricks at each other Best go

johnworf · 18/08/2009 09:21

Morning ladies,

Film was good but no snogging I'm afraid. No love bites either

K gave her big sister the run around last night and we got home to find her on her big sister's knee. DD#1 reported that they'd watched lots of In The Night Garden and told me she thought it was like some bad acid trip. K loves it though. She still woke up at 5am for a feed even though she went to bed so much later.

neddie not long now eh? Great you haven't got piles .....not nice at all. Not had a CS so can't help there.

Think DSS is back today but may be tomorrow. Not sure.

DH in bed with dizziness today. Think I'll take K to the park if we can manage to duck the rain.

JJ love Dave Gorman too (think he's a local but now lives in London). Has your OH seen Googlewhack? If not I totally recommend it

dawntigga · 18/08/2009 11:19

quick online time

Tee oh dear it's that woman again Lord Voldemort strikes again. Good luck to her if it works - no, you can't here me snurking behind my hand.

Waves to all then disappears in a puff of green smoke.

dawntigga · 18/08/2009 11:21

Sorry guys just read this bit in the beyond 2 month section:

6.30-6.45pm ? Feed. Always give a little more at this feed (although if breastfeeding this may be difficult).

Ya think?????

johnworf · 18/08/2009 13:31

hedgepig glad you had a good time. You need to speak to tee's SiL re routines for B and O

K likes houmous. Tried her with it today and it's a thumbs up. 2 things on her list of things she likes to eat Talk about variety.

Weather is so overcast here. Think all the sunshine is concentrated darn sarf

heron22 · 18/08/2009 15:28

hello all

tee read with great interest about your SIL going to get her baby on routine. i will stick my neck out here and say that i did routine for both my boys. during the early weeks, there is no time to do anything else but follow the routine. so it is not for everyone!

so good luck to her!

johnworf · 18/08/2009 16:06

heron and your two boys stuck to the routine?

I'm very impressed if you got them to do it.
