Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
jeanjeannie · 16/08/2009 19:21

Evening all..hot and knackered. Managed to make a whole day out from just walking into town via the park! Excellent - and cheap!

jw sounds like you were fuming with DH - sorry about the tv cabinet.

Vaccinations are such a hot potato. I know when my friends were sprogging left/right and centre it was in the middle of the autism link and none of them had the MMR - all went for the single. One of their little ones has since had measles Yep, there was (still is) a roaring trade in unlicensed vaccines and basically the protection isn't there. In fact I'm not sure how many of the single jabs are actually licensed - so that's another (important) factor to think about when making a decision.

Verity is into howling crying and appearing to bow down and pray to Mecca every time you say 'no' to her. I think this is going to get very trying indeed!!!

mrsboogie · 16/08/2009 20:03

D has started to exhibit tantrumish behaviour too of late, arm flapping and roaring and wriggling like an eel and throwing himself about if you try to get him to do something he doesn't fancy.

Re the single jabs - I think the dodgy clinics might still be doing the measles one but not the others - so it is very difficult to get cover against rubella and mumps. Have seen it discussed on threads here.

have we seen that the Daily Mail is running a new weekly article where some lazy arsed "journo" pinches interesting threads off here and uses quotes form posters. There is outrage about it.

johnworf · 16/08/2009 20:13

Yeah mrsb saw that DM thread. Bit cheeky methinks and lazy journalism.

This place is still doing the single jabs.

Sounds like a good day JJ. And cheap!

Yes, I was fuming with him and I've only just calmed down. However, he's not back yet so I might get annoyed with him all over again yet I've told him that if he swears at me one more time in front of the children, then I'm outta here. No excuses. No second chances. That is it.

I know he's told his version of events to his sister (you know the one, neurotic SiL?) as she rang me to let me know he'd left. Asked me 4 times if I was ok. Of course I told her nothing.

Anyway, DD#1 is off on holiday tomorrow so we might spend a girly day together. She's requesting all manner of things to be cooked for her...strangely, just like I did when she was younger. I think she's going through her regression stage

jeanjeannie · 16/08/2009 20:33

Oh I saw the 'outrage' at the Daily Mail thing but there's not the beating of breasts over the Independent or The Times when they do it Anyway - there are loads of lazy hack journos on here.....and MN towers probably work on the principle that any publicity is good. Mind you i find it really hard to believe that the journo in question didn't ask permission She got VERY upset and forced MN to delete the thread that 'outed' who she was - as in her MN name!

jw that sounds like a nice day ahead tomorrow. Hope it all calms down for you
I still like to request fave dinners when I go home Bestest ones are...scotch egg (mum is a whizz with sausage meat!) Meat pie and spotted dick

Tee2072 · 16/08/2009 20:35

I was participating in the DM thread, mostly because everyone going 'but when I post on MN its to a specific group' had me going no its not and give me a chance to get on my own personal 'there is no privacy left' soapbox. Its finally devolved into everyone repeating the same arguments.

Adam will get every jab offered, probably including the SF if he's offered it.

johnworf · 16/08/2009 20:47

Meat pie and spotted dick sound very Carry On!

I think they're mostly nursery/comfort foods, just like you've mentioned up there. Btw, she loves scotch eggs. It was one of the first things I made in domestic science I remember it with fondness.

I think anything you type in this arena is public. Anyone doing a search can look at it. Mebbe there's halfwits who don't realise the 'outside world' can see us on the t'interweb. D'oh!

jeanjeannie · 16/08/2009 20:56

Hahahaha - they can see us????? Puts colander on head and runs around shouting "they're coming! They're coming!"....dives behind sofa

mrsboogie · 16/08/2009 21:04

we still request certain meals as well when visiting parents (more when we used to go on our own rather than en famille)

D has a new trick re not eating. If he decides he is not eating the thing that we have provided he takes his cup and makes a great show of drinking water every bloody time you approach his mouth with a spoonful of food. And he drinks and drinks verryy slowwwly indeed. If you try to take the cup he throws a fit. This is repeated until we give up trying.

So, he has had one proper meal today.

jw sorry he still isn't playing ball. You are right re the swearing, I wouldn't stand for it either. Although I'd be kicking him out rather than myself IYKWIM.

Tee2072 · 17/08/2009 07:54

Good morning all.

Usual Adam pattern last night, but somehow I don't feel tired. Maybe I'm getting used to it? Big plans around here again: Yoga, shower, grocery store, A's UK passport paperwork. Try not to be too jealous about the day I have planned!!

I always request certain things for my mum to cook. She even brought some food with her from the States so she could make my favourites!

JW I am right there with you about the swearing. Just not on!

mrsb good luck getting D to eat.

JJ I have never had a scotch egg. Am I missing out?

johnworf · 17/08/2009 07:56

Morning ladies.

mrsb that is a great trick D has mastered there They really do try the patience of a saint don't they?

OOOh bet your are lying in bed until at least noon today, first day of your holidays and all

JJ haha. Great image there of you running around.

We had a sit down about all that is going last night. Turns out that DSS has told SiL that we're rowing all the time which isn't quite accurate but now she'll stick her oar in. This time I'm not going to diplomatic with her.

I am probably quite irritable some of the time. Mostly tiredness mixed with groundhog day life.

mrsb DSS won't ever move out. His office is here and all of his work things. It's not quite got to that stage ..........yet.

K found DH's bike y'day. In particular the chain. Cue oily hands anyone?

johnworf · 17/08/2009 07:58

Seems requesting certain meals from your mother never leaves you!

tee sounds like a good day there you have planned

And yes, you do get used to the zombie-like state. Sign of a proper mother

jeanjeannie · 17/08/2009 08:20

Monday - yeuch!

jw I'm living in groundhog day too AND I know I'm getting crabby I've also had words' with DP and I think he actually understands. My chink of light is pre-school in Sept! That'll be 3 hours Thurs afternoons and 8.30-3pm Fridays Not only that but because she loves it I think we'll see more progress on the speech front. But BLOOMIN 'ECK.....being a SAHM is relentless - you guys are my only form of 'office chit chat'

It's melting here...hot, hot, hot.

tee that sounds like a top day ahead!

We're going to skip happily through the day - like smiling zombies !

jeanjeannie · 17/08/2009 08:35

jw actually I'll scrap that - I'm nowhere near living in the groundhog day that you are. I shall quit my moaning! I am thankful I can at least drag my two around the shops (like a chav!) kicking and screaming - chucking Fruit Shoots and Gregg's pasties down their throats

johnworf · 17/08/2009 08:36

At least you can see that Iris wil be going to school twice a week and then you can get some variation in your life.

This is pretty much my outlet to chat too. My friends IRL aren't interested in tricks to get K to eat or whether she's crawling. They're nearly all child-free.

We're supposed to be having a night out together tonight. We've not been out on our own since last September.

Tee2072 · 17/08/2009 08:38

Small change in plans...DH leans over to kiss Adam good bye, the boy being in his bouncy seat. And what before his eyes does appear? POOH EVERYWHERE!!!!!!!!!!!! This is the second time we've had a containment problem, also in his chair.

Now I'm going to do yoga etc. Now that the great pooh incident of 2009...well Aug 2009 has been cleaned up.

dawntigga · 17/08/2009 09:07

Might be off line for a bit guys - love you all.

SmoochesTiggaxx

dawntigga · 17/08/2009 09:19

BTW the whole Daily Mail thing - aren't some people on here a tad self involved to think they might be interesting enough to have a thread stolen????

tee we had poonami day in a bumbo yesterday - it had nowhere to go except vertically. We cut Sam out of his vest in the end

CouldBeMyCynicalNatureComingOutTiggaxx

jeanjeannie · 17/08/2009 09:24

Yep jw that's it - I can at least see something in the near future that will give me a break in the routine!

Maybe it's because at 40 something you've spent so long doing stuff on your own terms that the SAHM thing does seem stiffling at times. I am slowly planning to do other stuff for when they're both at school....mainly freelance writing and photography so that's a good excuse to buy a new soopa doopa lens Already had enquiries from the NCT - and i'm buying a website from Clikpic to put up my stuff. Doing it all slowly but gives me some sort of 'purpose'!

And as for a night out - well, apart from going out with DP and the girls I'm just too tired to do a 'big one' with the girls!

tee hahahahaha containment problems eh? Yep - sounds familiar - it's when it reaches their neck (front and back) you know you've hit the heights!

duchesse are you still there??????? What's happening??? x

neddie are you holding on to your tins?? x

jeanjeannie · 17/08/2009 09:25

We'llkeepyourseatwarm dawntigga don't go for too long!
LOL@cutting of vest in Bumbo drama

Neddie · 17/08/2009 09:41

Hi all
Tues, Wed, Thurs, Fri, Sat, Sun, Mon, Tues, Wed, THURSDAY BINGO. JW I am in Groundhog day too.
Get up -wee-breakfast-wee-dress-e-bay-wee- bed- wee- get in car and stay there whilst partner does some shopping- home-bed-wee..........wake up at 2 am, 4 am, 6 am (Feel free to add in wee in between each of these)....oh I forgot, have braxton hicks/colic and feet so swollen I fear I have Gout .
I am really enjoying this can you tell?
Duchesse sounds like you will pop before me- I am not doing much so that they stay there and come out according to plan. Some times though the stairs are somewhat like scaling the Eiger and all the chairs are creeking ominously when I sit on them .
Take care everyone.

duchesse · 17/08/2009 10:56

Alas nothing happening at all apart from bouts of BH and the fact that I am seriously fecked off with being pregnant and not sleeping! By my reckoning I am 41 weeks today (40 weeks by scan dates) and I have had enough!!

OP posts:
mrsboogie · 17/08/2009 12:05

morning all

Yup, got a lie in 'til 10am -D slept from about 9pm til 10am with a pitstop for an 8oz bottle at 5am.

We are currently debating whether to have a trip out some where or do some house sorting -planning to swap dining and living areas to make eating at the table properly a more frequent occurrence.

Got the playpen, fuck me it's a bloody godsend!! his favourite trick is opening and closing the gate frantically while screeching excitedly.

This is absolutely my only outlet for baby talk - all my friends' kids are grown up and not being a SAHM I don't do the playgroup thing (OH's mum has asked if she can take D to a tumbletots class but appara the waiting list is years !!). I was thinking last night in bed how amazing it is that I have spoken to you ladies practically everyday since I was 4 months pg and D is nearly 1.

Does anyone know anything about oral thrush? we all seem to have a sore tongue here at the moment- never had thrush but wondered if it might be it...

duchesse I hope you pop soon!!

neddie you win the sympathy vote - sounds horrendous - poor you

jeanjeannie · 17/08/2009 12:42

We're back and actually had a nice time!!

mrsb I was thinking the same the other day - asides from holidays I've spoken to you guys almost everyday for over a year Modern-day penpals!

Oral thrush is white - furry and you can use Daktarin. You can also get a red looking infection which we all had - it'm more random apparently and you need a swab to see if it's viral (i think that's what it was ) and ours was so required no anti-bs - just Bonjela.

duchesse Blimey - I'm feeling your pain Wishing you speedy labour-vibes xxx

neddie Gosh - how horrid. LOL@ thought of gout and your wee trips! Perhaps you could benefit from a large size Pampers! I can feel your enjoyment radiating off the screen

Come both of you - we need you to pop and then we can perhaps move the thread into Chat

johnworf · 17/08/2009 13:13

Oi oi mrsb so you decided to plump for a mini prison playpen? Btw, that's what my DD#1 used to call the one I had for my youngest son (houdini). I'd do the sorting out today. Mid week is going to be a heatwave so it'd prolly be a better day out for you

JJ and mrsb you also have to watch with oral thrush that it doesn't go through your system and end up on your undercarriage. When K got it at 4 months that is exactly what happened. We had Daktarin oral and also the yellow cream for down there. Guess it'd be Canesten for grown ups.

neddie not long now until the tins arrive. Just keep ticking off on the calander.

duchesse think that the last weeks of being pregnant are so boring. It's a waiting game but surely you don't have much longer to wait. Here's hoping

I'm off for a mani/pedi with DD#1 in an hour or so. She's got the day off work so we're spoiling ourselves. She's agreed to have K tonight for a couple of hours whilst we go out. First times in ages. Might try cinema. Don't really want to eat at 9pm as I'll have indigestion in bed.

DH thinks he has AS as well It would explain some of his behaviour, lack of compassion, poor social interaction etc. Not much hope is there with two of them in the house? Just hope that K doesn't take after him too.

Saw that programme 'Austic Me' on More OD last night. Sad. Grown ups that can't leave home/get a job/have a relationship due to ASD. Then gets you thinking about DSS and I wondered if that's what's in store for him/us.

mrsboogie · 17/08/2009 13:42

oh yes meant to say jw good to hear about you finally getting a night out!

not sure if it is thrush as there is no white patches - DP had a painful tongue with painful bumps, then he lost his sense of taste and all in, it lasted 5 days. Now I have the similar with a sort of weird bleachy taste in my mouth and D has been crying when eating so I reckon his mouth is painful. It is probably something he picked up in nursery - they use "nursery" dummies which I do not like the idea of...

yes we are going to have to move soon aren't we...
