Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
mrsboogie · 15/08/2009 20:33

obviously ds1 is a boy

pink is fine tee D has a nice pink and yellow stripey suit.

but those shoes are pushing it!!

Tee2072 · 15/08/2009 20:40

That's what my mum said also, mrsb when I showed them to her just now on IM!!

johnworf · 15/08/2009 20:42

Don't they say that it's girls that the sperm sits there for a couple of days and it's the boys when the egg is sitting there waiting? I've put it in very simplistic terms but I think that's the jist of it. It's the Shettles theory anyway if you're interested.

Tee2072 · 15/08/2009 21:01

That's why my mum thought Adam would be a girl, jw, based on when I should have ovulated versus, well, you know.

mrsboogie · 15/08/2009 21:06

yep I think so jw

must investigate further..

we really really have to start brushing D's teeth (another new thing from last time) but I keep putting it off - he loves investigating inside our mouths (scratched DP's tongue to buggery the other day) but on no account is anyone allowed to do the same to him...

/quakes

johnworf · 15/08/2009 21:13

I'm glad that D does that scratch your face/mouth to pieces routine. So does K. And pulls my specs off (see rips them off my face) and is great at hair pulling too.

I know when I'm ovulating as I get the pain down one side. Without fail

mrsboogie · 15/08/2009 21:29

I keep thinking that I have a false sense of how how straightforward it might be to have a baby at 42 on account of knocking about with you ladies on here where it seems almost run of the mill.

mrsboogie · 15/08/2009 21:31

oh god - DP gets the specs ripped off and I get the hair pulling - there is nothing worse than being yanked awake by having your hair pulled by a baby who has decided it is high time everyone went downstairs...

jeanjeannie · 15/08/2009 21:45

Evening all. Just back from a lovely impromtu evening over at DP's brother's - MMmmm, bbq and people to entertain the girls! AND THREE glasses of wine for moi! Am now quoiffing back pints of water while watching our friend on the Proms ooOOOOoooo he's the soloist now - I'm off - byeee

johnworf · 15/08/2009 21:52

JJ you filthy stop out! Great that you and the girls had an entertaining day. Good for you. You deserve it.

mrsb I'm so glad that D does the same thing. I was beginning to get a complex that K hated me Prolly just another phase

I guess we are very lucky ladies indeed. I have wandered over to the TTC over 40's thread a couple of times and there's lots of ladies on there not having any luck. Still, you've done it once as an OAP mum so you can do it again (you gotta think positive).

Now I come to think about it, this thread was first born out of msdynamo being pregnant. Sadly I think she miscarried and is on the thread I've just mentioned. JJ am I correct with this information just out of curiousity?

ermintrude13 · 15/08/2009 22:20

Gnnugh, busy busy day packing and cooking and washing to get ready for invasion visit of DH's parents and his aunt and uncle for lunch after which we go off to my folks overnight and then to Edinburgh on Monday. Can't catch up properly, so will just say

Duchesse good luck! Neddie hope you get your new car before those tins arrive

mrsB (42 is a great age to have #3 ) and JW girl sperm live longer and boy sperm swim faster SO if you want a girl you are supposed to have sex a couple of days before ovulation (so that the boy sperm will have died off by then) and if you want a boy you do it the day after ovulation - when a quick boy sperm will get to the egg before it disappears). However, even regular ovulation can have a 48-hr alteration month to month so it's a bugger to predict and I think this theory only skews the likelihood something like 60:40% so not to be relied upon!

Must go and pack more nappies, not sure if I'll be online from the caravan near Edinburgh, so have a good week all and I hope to hear of babies when I return. xx

mrsboogie · 15/08/2009 22:36

enjoy Edinburgh ermintrude! am v

was wondering where jj had slunk off to...

I remember msdynamo I think...

right, off to watch The Class

\squints at subtitles

johnworf · 16/08/2009 07:57

Moaning all.

Good night here and madam slept through. Hopefully she's remembered this is what she uesed to do Ever the optimist....

ermintrude have a lovley time in Edinburgh. Not sure of the weather for the coming week but I'm sure you'll have a good time whatever is happening. Bring us all a stick of rock

K is happily watching Balamory - which she loves. I'm hoping she'll have a little nap soon as I'm going to build this cheapo tv cabinet (that keeps little fingers off lights and buttons).

No big children today for lunch as they're all busy doing other things. DS#2 is moving next weekend into his sister's flat before starting uni so I guess it'll be a busy one. Best try to enjoy this one then!

johnworf · 16/08/2009 08:01

Knew I'd forget something!

Ok, not read into this thoroughly but it's precisely this type of article that scares the hell outta me. Ok, maybe that is what it is intended to do. As I said, I need to read up on this further.

Tee2072 · 16/08/2009 08:02

Morning all.

I had the night off and DH let me sleep until I woke up on my own! Granted, I only slept until 720, but that's 8 hours of straight sleep! I feel like a new woman. Apparently A had a quite night anyway, up at 230 but straight back down after glugging a bottle in about 10 minutes and then not back up until 645.

Have a great trip erm!!

dawntigga · 16/08/2009 08:41

Morning

Much vomiting last night - from our dog!

She only ever gets canned meat as a treat and I think it's to rich for her now Either that or her cancer has reached the stage where it affects digestion. I really hope that isn't the case, she's been with me for the last 14 years and I'll be very even though I've known it may come to this for a long time.

SlightlyWorriedAndABitSadTiggaxx

jeanjeannie · 16/08/2009 10:00

Morning all....coming to you from jjtowers with a slighty fuzzy head Me thinks three glasses of white winewas a tad too much!

erm enjoy Edinburgh - hope howling gales don't rock the caravan! You'll have a blast. COme back and tell us tales from the big wide world!

dawntigga awwwww -- poor dog. Mind you my cat has had only dried food for the last 4 years and she chucked up the other week when she snaffled down some chicken. FIngers crossed it's just too rich.

tee excellent on getting 8 straight hours!

jw gosh yes, I think it was msdynamo who started this all off. Think you and I quickly followed. That really was a lifetime ago.

I'd read about that too - really can't make my mind up about the SW vaccine.

Hope the building of the TV cabinet is fun. We just need a new tv - it's like a small old-fashioned dot as it's that small!

Verity has started pinching, glasses swiping and now loves Peppa Pig. Damm that porcine cartoon - she goes nuts when it stops.

Oh what shall we do today? Want to go out but can't think where.....

Tee2072 · 16/08/2009 10:14

JW by my reading of that, they are not sure, even now, if the GB in the '70s was caused by the vaccine or by the Swine Flu, and that they are not assuming the vac will cause GB, but that they think it should be recorded if GB does happen.

Not that I am saying I am running out to get myself or A the vaccine, just that I think this is another scaremonger article.

But if I was you? I'd keep K home and ignore the vac!!

Tabitha8 · 16/08/2009 10:58

Tigga I hope your dog is ok. Ours is 15 now. They are surrogate children, aren't they?
As for SF jab, B hasn't had any jabs yet as I feel he's too young for so many diseases by needle all at once. Please tell me I'm being daft. I've been agonising over this since before he was born.

Tee2072 · 16/08/2009 12:44

tab how old is he now? They won't be offering SF to babies under 5 months, from what I understand. I personally think all other jabs should be received. Even MMR. Maybe even especially MMR.

mrsboogie · 16/08/2009 13:51

tab you are being daft - if you are talking about missing the the 8 week vaccine! there is protection against a couple of strains of menigitis in there for a start. Even the anti MMR conspiracy theorists wouldn't suggest there is a problem with the routine jabs.

That article is a load of scaremongering twaddle. The Daily Mail should be ashamed of itself after the MMR disaster it almost single handedly brought about. The truth will be far more boring and innocuous of course but that would be no good to the Daily Mail.

My work involves health issues in an totally unrelated area and I know that the agencies and independent committees that advise the Government are very risk averse - a lot has changed since the 1970s.

I am far more worried about the risk of complications from SF which is real, than the tiny theoretical risk of a vaccine.

/steps off the scientific soap box

Mr D woke again at 5am! he has started taking ore milk at one go now but still needs a night feed. He refused all offers of breakfast this morning and submitted finally, to 2 chunky organix carrot sticks before his midday nap. He is a holy terror!

the swings again for us I think.

johnworf · 16/08/2009 14:11

I need more information before I decide what I'm doing. Right now, there isn't any information for me to have.

tabitha def get the routine jabs done. There's a mini measles epidemic going on around where I live due to the low uptake a few years back when the autism link was big. K had her first jabs at -8 weeks old. I'm sure if she could handle them then your LO can

dawntigga hope your dog gets better soon. It's as bad as having a child imho.

JJ oh dear...hangover time? eeeep! Get some grease down you

Built the tv cabinet and I was in such a rage with DH that I've fooked it up. Ah well, it was cheap and it looks ok if you squint. I'm going to superglue the drawer shut though as I don't want K opening the bloody thing all the time.

K has eaten hardly anything today but has had her milk so I guess that's the way it is ...as Bruce sang.

DH has been a pain in the backside this morning and has gone off to N Wales to drop off DSS. Thank god he won't be back until this evening. Give me time to calm down

Tee2072 · 16/08/2009 18:16

That is the problem JW. Either a total lack of information or overload on scare tactics. Its very annoying.

dawntigga I hope your dog is okay.

Adam has been sleepy baby today. Which is okay for today, but could mean a long night for me tonight. [sigh]

Tabitha8 · 16/08/2009 18:29

JW It is difficult. The first protection offered against measles is with the MMR, but that isn't until they are about a year old. B is now 11 weeks. Ok, will probably go for the other "baby" jabs within the next couple of weeks. DH is keen.
Tee As for MMR, I'll probably go for the single jabs, as they are available at a local clinic. I'd just feel happier that way, even though I'm one of those "it won't happen to me" people, so I don't actually think that MMR would ever cause any problems in B. There, how daft is that? Perhaps I just need to get out more?

johnworf · 16/08/2009 19:09

tabitha what do you think will happen to you assuming you are one of the unlucky ones? You do know that the autism link research is now discredited and there is no proven link?

Having the single jabs means that not only do you put your baby through 3 injections but also that the boosters will have to be given in 3 seperate jabs too. Oh, and they have to be given at 6 weekly intervals in which time you could have caught it.

AND I note, that each single vaccination is around £100 each! So that's about £600 just for jabs. Crazy!
