Ah yes, cables are good. hedgepig are you actually going to get away to your weekend break today?

K ate today. Part of a chicken happy meal. I am indeed a very bad mother. But, she ate it! What is in that stuff that isn't in the organic carrots I gave her the other day - that she didn't eat?

Well the carpet looks nice and fresh. They guys were here less than 20 minutes. V efficient they were. The tidying up and getting the furniture back in took us about 2 hours though. It was mostly junk so sorting out along the way.

Anyone got any exciting plans for the weekend?

Tee2072 · 14/08/2009 20:51

Evening all.

Someone asked me, I can't figure out who, if I was going to get the swing/bouncy seat for the Amby. The answer is...maybe!

DH came home at 3ish and I had a nice nap. Too bad it needed to be about 2 hours longer.

We might get to the Tall Ships on Sunday, to watch them leave. Its suppose to be quite the site. If its raining, all bets are off.

jeanjeannie · 14/08/2009 21:15

Evening all. Oh I can hear the ringing screaches of children in my ears...it's like tinitus - only more annoying!

jw you've made me feel SO much better - Iris loves a happy meal She's only had one twice - with chicken nuggets but (leaps to own defence!) it has kick-started her liking for chicken!!

Good to hear the carpet is nice. No doubt you've been lying naked on it - wriggling around, feeling the luxurious Yak's hair rubbing up against your bits

Plans for the weekend? Like tee it all depends on the weather. DP has promised to do some odd jobs and we've been invited by my harpist friend to a concert in a park! No doubt the reality will be to watch Iris's Peppa Pig DVD over and over and over and over and over again...! What about your good self???

johnworf · 14/08/2009 21:42

flicks through her diary.

Yep, every page is blank

I think the chicken in them there happy meals is alright as far as mechanically removed meat is concerned. It was the glugging of the strawberry milkshake that had me stood there agog. Still, the consultant said she can have whatever she wants, the more calories the better. I guess that anything MacDonalds-like fits the bill.

I just stood by the highchair with my mantra of 'I'm such a bad mother'. My DD#1 and DS#2 were also tucking in and sat there and shook their heads at me

The carpet is lush. But can't enjoy it fully until the curtains come Bet you've never had anyone say to you they've enjoyed a carpet have you?

OOh watching someone play the harp in the park sounds really good. Not sure that Peppa Pig will go with it.

Right. What's become of Iris (not your Iris JJ, the other one)? I haven't seen her round these parts for ages. Has someone kidnapped her?

iris66 · 14/08/2009 22:25

Hi all - long time no post but been up to my eyes in trying to manage N alongside my 2 dervishes! She's doing really well (I actually had 6hrs last night!) but feeding like a starving nation 2 hourly during the day with a 2-4hr screaming/winding frienzy every evening. DD's home and being a huge help but sadly goes back to uni just after DH goes away for a month (christ knows how I'm going to cope then!)

Bonzo - I think going from 1 to 2 is harder than 0-1. You have my unmitigated sympathy. DS1 was hospitalised with a virus a couple of weeks ago too(seasonal wheeziness was what they said - caused buy a virus - like you, I was in absolute bits at home waiting but he didn't have to stay in, thankfully) he still has to have his inhaler occasionally. Stress seems to make him start coughing/wheezing (such as evil mummy forcibly washing his hair )but it is improving. Hope your LO is OK now .

jw - the curtains sound gorgeous - the sort I'd justify as an investment

neddie - I can't believe you've not had your twins yet! They must be very content in there My mate has twins and rugbyball BF'd hers at first, until she established who'd wait better, then did them in turn (she did have a lot of help at home for some months though)

mrsb - hope you're pleased with oyur new hairdo and have a fab night out

jj - pmsl (and groaned in sympathy) over the poo/bookcase incident.Fab news over the speech/language therapist (you clearly don't need one I see...and I thought it was ermintrude who was into writing porn!

Tee - of your ability to escape to your spare room. Did you ever get any joy with your Freedom sling by the way?

Dawntigga - hope you're ok. It does get better - honestly

Duchesse - any news?

Floria - I agree with JW over the dictatorship accusations too. My DH only ever complains when things impact on his plans (or TV/PC time!!) though I am a bossy cow and so the cap probably fits here You sound so accommodating though I feel he's made you feel that way. Hope your chat sorted things out

can't type anymore - her ladyship's being a bit too full on. Hi to those I've missed & hope all's well. I'll try to keep up now!!!

iris66 · 14/08/2009 22:27

jw - you could hear me typing couldn't you (and thanks for missing me )

duchesse · 14/08/2009 22:56

Alas, no news... Just three days of braxton hicks every ten minutes, and insomnia from 2am onwards. Got really excited last night at 3am when I had a proper contraction, but it turned out to be a total loner... I can't imagine this one is going to be very late though- this baby feels as though it's going to drop out any moment and the head's engaged, which never happened with the other three.

Will keep y'all posted.

OP posts:
johnworf · 15/08/2009 08:10

duchesse sounds like movements are afoot. I'm sure if head is engaged then it should be almost imminent. Let us know how you get on !!

iris what a coincidence! I mention your name and you appear as if by magic I'm glad that all is well at your end. Your DS is on the mend which is good. N is growing like a weed too Excellent all round!

mrsb I forgot you were on a night out last night I hope you and your new hair had a great time and only wished I could have joined you. Praps I should write a manual of 'How to have a night out - Beginners course' for us mums who never see the outside world unless it's going to playgroup (and that doesn't count).

Madam awakes and demands my attention. BBL.

dawntigga · 15/08/2009 08:26

Plans? jw are you mad????? Plans are for the people without children, lurching from day to day for the rest of us

We are going looking for a light wood welsh dresser type thingy soooooo rock and roll

'Remembers'GettingDrunkInGermanyWithLemmyAndAliceTiggaxx

Tee2072 · 15/08/2009 09:15

Still pouring rain here. DH heading out for groceries and then we are hiding the rest of the weekend. Tall Ships may or may not be looked at on Sunday. Which may or may not make us the only people in Belfast to see them.

duchesse does sound like it could happen any minute now! Good luck.

iris I did indeed get my Freedom Sling. A hates it. Shrieks like a banshee when put it in. At least he likes the Bjorn.

JW I see nothing wrong with the occasional chicken nugget, however I object to the strawberry shake. Must.Be.Chocolate.

DH off to shower, me on baby duty, BBL.

johnworf · 15/08/2009 10:49

Makes mental note on the milkshake front from tee

dawntigga you are so right. What the hell was I thinking?!

We're also off out to run a few errands. Going to look for retro lampshades and I have the Plan B ready (M&S lampshade) just incase. Also need to call in at Clarks for DSS's new school shoes.

Later this evening I'll be sewing/ironing in the name badges for his new uniform. Echoing dawn's sentiments; rock n roll baybee

mrsb are you still alive today after gallivanting last night?

K has bumped her head twice already this morning. Now she can stand and get up on things she doesn't realise that she cannot yet walk but in her mind she obviously can. Cue bruises galore..........

jeanjeannie · 15/08/2009 11:56

Morning - just!

Gawd I feel rough, rough, rough. This cough is getting worse and it's making me light-headed. Dp's brother is on his way over - so I think I'll just veg.

dawntigga yeah - I remember a rock 'n'roll lifestyle too! Lemmy chased my friend round a night club (literally) once - he was a hoot. I seem to remember a drunken night with a woman called Tracy - who may have had his children Ah - happy nights out in the 80's down the Intrepid Fox in Wardour street!!

jw sewing, Clarkes and lampshades - that IS rock n' roll compared to moi.

Only excitement here is that our lovely friend from round the corner is the solo harpsichordist on the Proms tonight; he;s so lovely and eccentric.

Raining here too tee no chance of tall ships here in the Chilterns!

mrsboogie · 15/08/2009 11:58

Your weekend plans sound good tee I love hiding all weekend

neddie how are you doing today?

iris you are made of sterner stuff than me - I am in awe - glad your DS1 is ok.

Hope you are enjoying the new room jw

I was squiffy last night but took the sensible precaution of eating a large cheese salad roll before going to the pub and hence my stomach lining is intact this morning. Ami finally getting sense in my old age? nah, probably not! Had a good night, at one point over the dinner table one of our colleagues was engaging DP in a discussion of how he could persuade his wife to entertain the idea of introducing sex toys in the bedroom...and DP went on to enlighten him about certain things..

I have got ALL OF NEXT WEEK OFF!!! HURRAH!! No money for holidays but we are going to take lots of days trips, when I say lots I mean a few...

It is nice and sunny here so we are going to give the little man a wee run out to the park and have a go on the swings

ooops.. just went to investigate a sudden silence (isn't it funny how silence is terribly ominous when you have an 11 month old?? ) and found D out in the hall sitting under DP's mountain bike happily twirling the pedals

duchesse sounds hard work this last bit for you - when is/was your due date? Hope things speed up for you.

Got my first Ocado grocery delivery - must say it is very good - everything in stock - not much more expensive than Tesco, 15% off and a free paper and bar of Green and Black's choccie - and the website is a dream to use. Very impressed - and v pleased to be able to get waitrose stuff this far oop North.

mrsboogie · 15/08/2009 12:06

sympathies on the cough jj mine was making me light headed all week - not nice. Seems to have moved on to a new but no less unpleasant stage now...

I knew I would forget something - jw lol @the happy meal - so long as she gets her calories no harm will be done! Prepared D lovely organic apple flavoured porridge and mashed a banana in to it for breakfast and he was hungry - his mouth was opening and closing as I approached with the bowl - but would he eat it? no way. I had to resort to a jar of apple crumble purée out of the cupboard. I give up. Think I will just have to feed him a lunch/dinner type meal for breakfast.

Tee2072 · 15/08/2009 16:12

Well, turned into a beautiful afternoon that I spent folding laundry, cuddling a cranky boy and watching Sixteen Candles. Who knew that John Cusack had a small part in that movie?

Off to fold more laundry. Man my life is exciting...

johnworf · 15/08/2009 17:32

JJ sorry to hear about the cough. Both yourself and mrsb have been really unlucky this past year with lurgies Hopefully it's just a phase. Get better soon-ish

Sounds like you had a good night out mrsb. How's the hair? What did you have done? And a week off next week to boot! Fan-bloody-tastic

Can totally relate to the breakfast incident. Yoghurt and Organix crisps here

Had a marathon session at Ikea with DD#1. Never a good idea to put us two together looking at home furnishing. We lead each other astray. She had meatballs and I had dime cake. Anyhoo, I bought a cheapish tv stand (£35) with lockable front to keep tiny fingers out. I was not comfortable with the glass stand we had with K being mobile. It can go into the loft until such time she is safe to be around it (circa 2020).

Heavens have opened here and it's lashing it down with a good gusty wind behind it. Still, at least the premiership has started today .................goes off to put head in oven.

mrsboogie · 15/08/2009 18:14

it's dark brown again jw and in a long bob s'alright I spose..

'ere jw I know you have the tripp trapp but how's about this for some seventies cool in your new dining room?? 'tis a snip, no?

johnworf · 15/08/2009 18:30

Sounds good mrsb. I'm also dark brown. Gone back to my roots so to speak.

Lovely highchair. No way would I pay that sort of money for it! Looks good though. Guess you'd need a lot of pennies to justify it

mrsboogie · 15/08/2009 18:35

this is nice too...

mrsboogie · 15/08/2009 18:57

ooh

Tee2072 · 15/08/2009 19:56

Oh, mrsb those are adorable! Do you think Adam will like them .

mrsboogie · 15/08/2009 20:05

Darragh will like them

/sets aside money for therapy sessions staring in 2020

johnworf · 15/08/2009 20:22

Poor D and his identity crisis! Awww I can see him with his hair grown long and in pig tails

Think it's time you got your skates on mrsb and sprogged up a girlie!

Tee2072 · 15/08/2009 20:29

Well, I do keep saying I don't mind if Adam has things that are pink....

mrsboogie · 15/08/2009 20:29

I know, I know but we don't make girlies in either mine or DP's families

DP has only a brother and male cousins and all of D's cousins and DS1 are boys.

I reckon my sis who is currently ttc will be the one to sprog out a girlie flavoured one.

I will be if she does...

I have names an' everyfink
