mrsb i can only dream of grandparents taking my kids away so that DH and I can have some time to ourselves! so go on, lucky you! i have discarded the mummy guilt

duchesse good to hear your DH is better and does not have piggy flu!

this morning LO did not nap at all! could it be that he is outgrowing it?? time will tell.

now i am off to defrost some pear and nectarine puree. yum! LO seems to really like it!

heron22 · 06/08/2009 13:48

so far, the pear and nectarine puree is a real winner LO just loves it! and i have not got a suitable chair/seat for him yet. so i just got him on my lap really. and it is working well.

mrsboogie · 06/08/2009 14:10

they do love those fruity purees, it's only when you try to move them onto other things the trouble begins...

the problem with the grandparents taking D away is that we would be at work - not off being scot free unfortunately...

johnworf · 06/08/2009 14:16

I'm intrigued now ermintrude. What the heck have you bought?

Lordy, no time for cardie pics today I'm afraid. Maybe later. It's a mad house here today and my head is throbbing. I'm gonna go and have some tablets for it...I never get headaches either.

I'm making good headway with The Outcast and am hoping to start on another book; The Life of Pi which I've seen around for ages but not yet got around to reading. Also have The Gargoyle waiting around too. No, not my DH, it's the title of another book by Andrew Davidson

heron well done on the puree!

duchesse ouch @ wasp sting. V unpleasant and nasty little creatures to boot. Vinegar is good.

mrsboogie · 06/08/2009 14:34

ooh will there be cake kw?? mmmm...cake and window shopping

johnworf · 06/08/2009 14:49

I should think there'd be a lot of cake involved

It's this cardi to go with this dress. The dress is really gorgeous and just stretchy enough for me to pop my bozooms out for feeding . Not v weddingy (Johnny Boden says it's right for going to a friend's house for dinner! He must keep different company from me )but it will be Sept and I will wear some silver Pilgrim jewellery to make it posher.

heron22 · 06/08/2009 15:38

hi all, i am just so calm right now. like i am on valium. DS1 has been crying and moping crying cos he got, wait for this, NO NEW TOYS! normally i would just get really cross at all the whinging

but right now i am just dead calm...

no seriously, it is quite hilarious actually.

johnworf · 06/08/2009 16:01

heron good for you...keep those calm thoughts coming

ermintrude like the outfit. Dress is lovely and I'm mad on that shade of green. I do love Boden stuff but the prices make me wince. I wouldn't say the cardigan is too frou-frou though.

Do you often pop your boobs out at dinner parties then?

OP posts:
ermintrude13 · 06/08/2009 16:06

No JW, only weddings .

I got 15% off and free delivery and since it's my baby sister's wedding I thought I'd treat myself. The 'ocean' colour goes v well with a pair of Boden's high-with-a-slight-platform suede shoes I bought last year for less than half price even though I had absolutely no reason to buy them. I didn't mention them to DH until I tried the whole thing on yesterday. He thought I'd been very clever .

heron22 · 06/08/2009 16:33

mrsb jw i guess spinach puree wont be a winner! so far, LO has had sweet potato, potato, pear, nectarine, apple, carrot, courgette.

mrsb yea wag a day off!

heron22 · 06/08/2009 16:34

jw i read life of pi years ago and it is such a good book!!!!

heron22 · 06/08/2009 17:20

ladies! what shall i do? if anything at all?

DS1 has got a friend over for play, she is a little girl who is 6. DS1 is 5. DS1 said that the little girl took off her underpants and showed "to me" now i did not ask further what exactly it was that she showed!

should i tell her mother? what should i tell my son later? just ignore the whole thing?

mrsboogie · 06/08/2009 20:07

ignore the whole thing, or, make a joke of it..nah just ignore it!

jeanjeannie · 06/08/2009 20:26

Evening ladies - not had time to catch up properly as been on the hoof all day.

I've skimmed through and ...erm LOVE that dress, say it the other night and swooned - i too think those colours are lush.
heron say nothing - probably about the right time to be investigating their 'differences' in a casual manner!

jw hope headache didn't turn into a nightmare migraine from hell. I've read Life of Pi - lovely book - obscure yet approachable.

Been packing for tomorrow's camping escapade, so I don't end up in a rush doing it tomorrow.

Had my elderly friend over and I fed her lots to get her back into shape. Cake does wonders in its own medicinal way

Oh and I have sinned. I've been looking at the Next website and the new season stuff am now hankering after THIS entire look!
And THIS particular dress

Want, want, want - that's me!

Tee2072 · 06/08/2009 20:36

Argh. Adam has slept for a total of about 2 hours today. In 10 minute increments. DH is on night duty, he might get lucky and the boy may sleep all night long!

So when DH got home I had a cranky baby and was totally exhausted. So the kitchen hadn't been cleaned up, bottles washed, nothing done, because every time I tried today it wasn't just that A woke up, it was that A woke up screaming.

So I went to have an hours lie down and when I get up, DH had managed to get the kitchen tidied. And he says to me 'sometimes you just have to leave him to cry and get on with it.' To which I replied 'did you just give me a lecture about getting on with it? I am up with him 2 nights for every 1 you are and I deal with him crying for 8 hours for every 4 you do. And you dare lecture me about getting on with it?!?!' He looked at me like this and went to lie down. When he got back up he apologized all over himself and was very complimentary about the lasagne I made. MEN!!!

Whew. I feel better now. Thanks for letting me vent!

heron I'd ignore it.

JJ no wonder I can't find any summer clothes, everyone else is on fall already! But I like all of those things as well!

jeanjeannie · 06/08/2009 20:39

tee this is where we all shake our heads knowingly and say in a resigned voice...."men" .................................

heron22 · 06/08/2009 20:44

ladies, thanks foryour advice. yes i will just ignore it !
tee you poor thing, you must be exhausted from a day like that! good thing your DH is on duty tonight. he will prob sleep all night long, cos he is so tired!

jj i love that look! crikey! autumn clothes! summer not even here yet!

Tee2072 · 06/08/2009 20:51

Everything better now. I have wine and chocolate cake. Diet?

mrsboogie · 06/08/2009 20:57

oh yes ermintrude that is lush, very nice and will frame your bazooms a treat!

also jj a lovely look - especially on a slim person like yourself. There is a pinky/red and grey/black wrap dress on the Next website that I am after but the link links to a different outfit

tee My OH says exactly the same thing to me on a regular basis and I find it quite annoying. I cannot make a cup of tea or my breakfast if there is a baby going hysterical in the next room. Also I don't like to leave him crying - and it's not as if he's going to get fed up and stop after all!.

D is playing with a little soft football that I got in Tesco for a quid - he absolutely loves it to the exclusion of all the fancy things he owns! typical.

ooh am feeling very headachey myself today, never get headaches usually...

jeanjeannie · 06/08/2009 20:59

heron I know - that's the beauty of a rubbish summer....you can just move on and plough on into autumnal fashions!!

tee that's a fine, nutritious spread by the sounds of it, semi biblical too if you take the wine into account - you can't go wrong

johnworf · 06/08/2009 21:17

Evening all. Quick post then I'm off for sitting down position - first for the day.

tee yeah men. All the same I'm afraid.

heron just ignore it. If she does it again then talk to her mother.

Had busy day with my children, big and small. K has just settled. Screamed for an hour. My fault. I bought her one of the Tomy Starlight thingies which projects an image on the ceiling whilst playing a tune. You'd have thought that I'd shown her Hellraiser dvd I turned it off and picked her up. Screaming and clinging onto me..burying her face into me then looking back to the ceiling and screaming more. Anyway, picked her up and consoled her in my room and she was fine, even smiling. As soon as I took her back to her room she starts again, looking up at the ceiling and screaming

I think it'll be going back tomorrow.

I'm really frazzled today. Cup of tea in order and a biscuit

mrsb I also bought K a mini football made of foam y'day from Tesco. How bizarre. K likes rolling it or biting it. Either will amuse

JJ love the dresses. Unfortunately, as I'm a short arse, I can't wear knitted dresses as I look like a teapot in it's cosy. I love them in the pic though. You go for it

OP posts:
mrsboogie · 06/08/2009 21:41

I was thinking I would look like an immersion tank in its lagging jacket in a knitted dress. Am v of jj in her size 12.

D has the starlight thing - he has had it since v early so is used to it. The jury is still out on whether it actually keeps him awake or helps him to sleep...

have been debating whether or not to invest in a playpen for D. I never intended to get one but this house is sooo not baby friendly - you really can't leave him for any length of time - or he is stood up against shelves or gawd knows what and falling over backwards onto his skull. I dunno...

Tee2072 · 06/08/2009 21:42

Oh no JW! Poor little K!

Just found out that A won't be having his first immunizations until 25th Aug. Um, he's 8 weeks today. DH took the call from the HV about this and, of course, didn't bother to ask any questions. So I'll be ringing her tomorrow. I am wondering if they are doing it on his corrected age, which is 6 weeks today. Although I thought they didn't bother if they were less than 3 weeks early. JW which age did they use with K?
